  • Join us as we take a deep dive into the architecture of the Salesforce1 Platform, explain how multitenancy actually works, and how it affects you as a developer. Showing the technology we use and the design principles we adhere to, you'll see how our platform teams manage three major upgrades a year without causing any issues to existing development. We'll cover the performance and security implications around the platform to give you an understanding of how limits have evolved. By the end of the session, you'll have a better grasp of the architecture underpinning Force.com and understand how to get the most out of it.

Brilliant deck, explanation, language and delivery, thank you! First half of the talk little fast, but we have the luxury to pause to chew it and digest it better, thanks to technology :). Though it 6 years old presentation, core and vast majority of it would be still relevant. Great thing is that NoSQL databases can be (probably is) used for various pieces of data underneath but it is completely insulated and abstracted out to customers and developers!

Layers of abstraction Electronics (charge or no charge)->Logic Gates -> Microprocessors (Logic sequence and data, assembly language)->BIOS -> Drivers (device specific lower level operations) ->Operating System ( APIs/system calls, processes, files and memory) -> Database (Tables) -> Applications (Objects, Fields, Flows) -> UI/Business function API.
