I’m 25 years old and have been fascinated with fast and furious since I was maybe 8 or 9 and just now realized this only played in the beginning. From my memory this was an entire movie I could never seem to find. Crazy what happens when you can’t fall asleep and a few drinks mix together.
Shuto Kousoku was a better franchise imo. Thunderbolt with Jackie Chan is basically the fast and the furious before tfitf but Shuto Kousoku has the nicest cars and races.
If only Paul Walker was still alive, they might be able to a spin-off story that takes place between the first film and 2 Fast 2 Furious.... you can see the connection between him and Mika Kelly, that would have made a cool movie

I remember when I´ve watched this for the first time on DVD. I´ve felt like thanks for picking me up and bringing me to miami and to "2fast2furious" :)
Of course you’re not the only one. But the new ones are anything but boring. They may not be your cup of tea but most of the new ones are far superior to 2-4. They’re unapologetically over the top but they are nevertheless well-made movies and the cast is amazing. For years I considered the first one the only good film in the franchise (most people did actually), but as much as I loved the more realistic feel of it, the fact is they had to do something different with the franchise after the first few sequels were seen as disappointing by many. Call the new ones mindless and unrealistic, albeit they truly deliver for what they set out to do. They’ve given some highly creative and intense action scenes that pushed the enveloped and, franky, I think they took the right direction with the franchise. Plus, even if street racing is a thing of the past for the series, the films do live up to their “Fast & Furious” moniker. I doubt the series would have lasted this long if they hadn’t change things up.

They even considered having Fast 5 as the last film of the franchise but after they did that transition plot in Fast 5 when they added in more of a heist theme to the movie, they received hugely positive feedback because of the change in theme. This lets the production company know that their audience really liked the heist theme, so from there on out they would decide to continue the franchise with the heist theme but adding in a tasteful culture of cars at the same time. KR4V3NN you are wrong. They used a turbo charged prelude for the movie. You just dont see it because the prelude is the r34. Since it is illegal then they had to use r34 kits and interior.

Fun Fact: The skyline R34 he bought at the lot was actually illegally imported by some guy who was forced to give up the car or face a jail sentence. The car was never street legal which is why the production company only used it for the movie
Nope. IT was in the movies when 2 fast 2 furious was first in the theatre. I remember this fully, even as a kid. I was like AWWW? That was way too short to be the movie!!! I even remember saying after the actual movie that I had wished the movie would of just been a longer version of the prelude/intro Lol. If you missed this in the movies then you didn't get there soon enough!! =)
Every few years I go back and watch the movies from the beginning. I always seem to get stuck or stop at the 7th one though. Haven't finished 7 or seen the rest of em... and after reading all these comments I'm sort of a little glad I haven't. Tokyo Drift has been my favorite since a kid. Wish there were more like it

Wow all these years watching all of the movies yet never knew about THIS ONE right here until tonight. Funny this started after tuning into the USA network and saw The Fast and The Furious, first movie. That's when I started looking up Paul Walker's filmography online. I ended on Wikipedia where it listed the title of this gem right here. Then I started searching online and found this video on here. Well I'm glad I stayed up until very late and found this. after Tokyo Drift and somewhat fast 4 had a bit of racing in it. It went down hill. When they started pulling a whole bank vault with 2 cars it turned into another generic franchise.

Of course you’re not the only one. But the new ones are anything but boring. They may not be your cup of tea but most of the new ones are far superior to 2-4. They’re unapologetically over the top but they are nevertheless well-made movies and the cast is amazing. For years I considered the first one the only good film in the franchise (most people did actually), but as much as I loved the more realistic feel of it, the fact is they had to do something different with the franchise after the first few sequels were seen as disappointing by many. Call the new ones mindless and unrealistic, albeit they truly deliver for what they set out to do. They’ve given some highly creative and intense action scenes that pushed the enveloped and, franky, I think they took the right direction with the franchise. Plus, even if street racing is a thing of the past for the series, the films do live up to their “Fast & Furious” moniker. I doubt the series would have lasted this long if they hadn’t change things up.
Wouldn't say "boring" but over the top. None of them were realistic.
The first 3 movies are very entertaining and re-watchable.

They even considered having Fast 5 as the last film of the franchise but after they did that transition plot in Fast 5 when they added in more of a heist theme to the movie, they received hugely positive feedback because of the change in theme. This lets the production company know that their audience really liked the heist theme, so from there on out they would decide to continue the franchise with the heist theme but adding in a tasteful culture of cars at the same time.

KR4V3NN you are wrong. They used a turbo charged prelude for the movie. You just dont see it because the prelude is the r34. Since it is illegal then they had to use r34 kits and interior.

Fun Fact: The skyline R34 he bought at the lot was actually illegally imported by some guy who was forced to give up the car or face a jail sentence. The car was never street legal which is why the production company only used it for the movie

Nope. IT was in the movies when 2 fast 2 furious was first in the theatre. I remember this fully, even as a kid. I was like AWWW? That was way too short to be the movie!!! I even remember saying after the actual movie that I had wished the movie would of just been a longer version of the prelude/intro Lol.

Every few years I go back and watch the movies from the beginning. I always seem to get stuck or stop at the 7th one though. Haven't finished 7 or seen the rest of em... and after reading all these comments I'm sort of a little glad I haven't. Tokyo Drift has been my favorite since a kid. Wish there were more like it
