Practicing Brahm’s Violin Concerto Oboe Solo….

recording me practicing me this was truly humbling…
I decided to practice this after I had a masterclass on this particular solo. Even though it’s a really famous oboe solo, I had never worked on it with anybody.
I would say mistakes to avoid for next time would be to make the first A (the one we all fear) more piano and round in sound. Also the lines of the phrases should be more forward in direction (I can hear some gapping). I can also see my embouchure tightening up more and more as I become more tired AHHHWFEHUIUFIHWEIUH
I hope this WIP will improve 😭😭😭

Playing the oboe absolutely rocks!! I had a wonderful practice this afternoon, playing a few classical pieces, and very pleased indeed with my Howarth Academy medium soft reeds which produce a lovely tone. So I’m not sure, but your reed looks way shorter than the type I use and I’m wondering if that’s how European scrape reeds are or if it’s just a personal preference thing?
