This is the JBL Flip 6, now at first glance youâd be safe to assume that this is just a redesign with a new huge JBL logo on the front to spice things up. But in reality, thereâs a lot going on under this logo. Specifically, JBL added a new tweeter to the Flip 6⊠just like the Charge 5. And right now, the Charge 5 is my favorite sounding mid sized speaker. So today weâre going to checkout the JBL Flip 6⊠and weâre going to see if its worth upgrading if you have the Flip 4 or even the flip 5.

How much the battery cost??

I've seen about 6 jbl reviews on y.t now and I appreciate how your getting straight to the point and have a fast forward opt here. Thanks dude
đđŒ
I have been following your channel from quite some time now. The way you clearly portray the information is amazing! Keep it up, man.
That was an awesome review. Thanks so much for all your effort! I just bought the Flip 5 and I'm completely blown away by the quality of the sound. So powerful and a very deep bass playing out of this small portable speaker.
Much love for you and all the work you put into these videos. Happy holidays and may you have success and all you do.
Thank you man. Thatâs really thoughtful. Same to you đđŒ
The flip 4 is more useful for an average user, meaning someone who isn't an expert at sound. It has a headphone jack and a mic for calls. I use the headphone jack to link the flip 4 to my laptop, which lacks a powerful sound. When the bluetooth is not activated, the flip 4's battery can easily last 2 days. Going from the flip 4 to the flip 6 wouldn't be advantageous for my daily usage. The flip 4's sound is good enough. It's better than a lot of budget speakers on the market.
I cut the mic portion of the review. The mic on the flip 4 sounds super bad. It cut a minute from this video.
@@GYMCADDY Yeah, the mic is not great. You have to keep the speaker very close to you for your voice to be picked up correctly. But the option is there though. It's better than nothing.
@@babayaga2890 Agreed, I Have JBL Flip 3 Stealth, And Itâs Still Sounds Great For Me, Itâs My First Time Using An JBL. Iâm Planning To Upgrade To Charge 3 Though, Itâs Not The Lastest One, But Still A Great Sounding IMO. I Like The Stereo
That's right i have a flip 4, but after 7 months of using it, problem appears, in one sunny day i turned on my flip 4 and for no reason there is no sound!! Lights are on and Bluetooth connected but when i played music it doesn't make any sound not even the sound it makes when i press the power button, and i don't know why really i was so sad that day!
I tried to reset it and nothing happens, i tried to do a software update and it successfully updated but still there is no sound at all, i thought that the connection inside the speaker was disconnected but i opened it and everything was as good as new, basically untouched!
Good tutorial thx. Wished you talked about the repairability of each model, changing the battery of my flip4 was a huge pain in the ass, and in my experience battery died in less than 2 years, twice.
Cheers
Thank you for the video and happy holidays.
Happy holidays!
Like that personal EQ setup touch you gave us đ
The very BEST description of any electronic review I've ever watched! The comparison sealed the deal for me. :) Thanks
It was ok but definitely not the best I ever seen for sure
Hey bro, i just wanted to say, i watch ur vids many times, and u should still keep making this type of videos! Bc i enjoy them (especially with jbl speakers in them) and im sure many other people enjoy ur vids 2 so keep up the good work
I appreciate that!
very nice video, thanks for this comparison! đ
Perfect video with perfect comparisson thank you Mr. Perfect
Good job. Thank you so much! I'll stay with my 2 flip 5ers.
I just got my flip 6, my mom gifted to me thank you for the reviews â€ïžâ€ïž
Love the detail in your video bro.. you know what you are talking about đ
You can really hear on the sound test that the extra tweeter makes the flip 6 sound so much more crisp and full. Just purchased one đđŒ
Not really
I really like that you take the time to explain what the tweeters and woofers do

Great review.
Thanks for the in depth review! I think I'll be keeping my Flip 4 as it's the only one of the three that is stereo. While that may not be a deal breaker for some, I sometimes enjoy reading a book or sleeping with the Flip 4 playing on my chest, and at that range you can definitely hear the left and right speaker separation.
And I also use the 3.5 Aux input a lot.
Very nice video for people who aren't very familiar with speakers. Thanks!
this is the review I was waiting for. any idea when JBL flip 7 might launch?
Hello GYMCADDY Iâm really liking and enjoying your videos could you compare Jbl flip 6 against the Bose soundlink Flex and I hope you are doing well.
Coming tomorrow
Flip 4 is the only one with a built in mic.
A game changer for that boardroom meeting, hands free calls around the house and of course the cyclists water bottle holder.
Have 5x JBL Flip 4's synced on connect+. Range and Sound is awesome, and unit is built like a tank.
Will wait for flip 8. Need that mic!!!
Flip 6 is energetic, and the size of a soda can
The tweeter they added really separates the instruments and makes it sound clearer.
bigger than a soda can but close
This flip series are outstanding got them all they keep getting better sound quality as they produce new speakers and the demo song is outstanding great video as usual.
Killer video as always dude. Could you float up a shadow of the previous iteration woofer-tweeter formations when you're showing the different formations of speakers?
Thank you for the video.
I've upgraded flip 4 to 6 after see your video, thanks.
Great review man! I just saw a guy comparing Bose sound link to JBL 6, and while comparing the two somehow he ended up putting JBL vertically, while the Bose were laying flat. It pissed me off pretty bad xD
Watching your video gave me a relief! Did a great job comparing sounds with fast switching!
Thanks!
Well shown review
Just bought a 6 and Iâve had the flip 4 since launch and you can really notice a sound difference and the bass is amazing on the 6
Nah
@@xboxswitch9457 wdym nah
I have using flip for last 5 years since feb 2018, still sounds like charm
Sound quality, i still prefer soundcore motion + but flip series is more comfortable to bring everywere and tough for outdoor use especially flip 6 is a tank.
I got the flip 6 for my bros birthday and I damn near wanted it for myselfđ They sound amazing.
Hi There!! currently I have Flip 4 but battery is giving me problem slightly... everything else still perfect!!!!!
could you please suggest any other speaker apart from Flip 6, just little bit cheaper if so...or shall I go for Flip 6 only?
Latency would be nice to see get tested in these type of videos. Especially since the flip 4 is the only one with ax jack.
Exactly đŻ
The flip 4 is good with latency. I accidentally discovered my new Soundcore Boost and Soundcore Mini 3 have too much latency for video (probably >300ms).
Still have my flip 4 since it came out still sounds so good..granted I rarely use it but I when I do bass sounds so goodđ€€
I am still using my flip 3 and it rocks, I can only imagine how much better they are now days.
Possibly pretty similar.
How old is your flip 3?
@@himanshucs-0418 About 6 or 7 years old we love them here as well as the eXtreme.
Im still using my flip 4 I bought back in like 2019 and its doing great, although I had to change the battery after just 1 year of use... The aftermarket one is cracked though, I don't use it that much and I only charge it like once every week or even longer
I've upgraded 2pcs. Flip5 to 2pcs. Flip6 and it seems to me like a jump from 128kbps mp3 to 320 kbps. I've said the same upgraded Flip4 to Flip5. Well, it doesn't worth twice price, but there is a difference. You should compare it for at least 10 minutes. I know you don't like Flip5 mono speaker. This one have a tweeter for high frequences. It doesn't sound so mono comparing to Flip5. You should listen it if you still have Flip4. I think it's like comparing MP3 to FLAC (flip4 & flip 6). But the price. Do you need FLAC sound on the beach or noisy public place? Do you have extra money for toys? I think Flip4/5 is enough if you already have it. JBL App works fine and fast with 6. There are no detection issues.
Excellent in-depth review. Thank you
Just by that demo the five sounded recessed almost mudded, and the six sounded too bright, the four may have less volume and maybe less range in the extremes but it sounded tuned the best
No. The sound your hearing from the microphone isnt like what they sound like at all. In real life the highs are harsh
On the 4.
I owned the flip 5 and it just didnât have enough volume for my liking, felt like you could only play it just over half way before hearing significant quality in sound dropping, from this video it seems like isnt enough of a difference to make it worth the price tag, unless you are getting one solely for on the go id recommend a larger speaker
Charge 5 rocks
I was also planning to replace my Ue Boom 2 with the flip 5. I had tested it and the Charge 5 in a store. Although I do like the flip 5, I want to hold off to wait for the flip 6 to arrive here in Singapore
Flip4 is satisfying enough for me..just change the battery after a year so it'll fresh againđ
It should do well on battery. Mines about 2 and a half years old. Still get a little over 30+ hours off a full charge.
Still using same battery for 4yrs , no problem at all, yeah bit less but not much
Yea wierd seeing this mine lasted from 2019 till this week 23. Ran over by forklift still turned on tho perfect battery. Where'd did u buy I must ask?
I have the Flip 5. I love it đđŸâ€ïžđ
Had one but it was a part of the other paring speakers so I downgraded to a flip 4. Still performs so good for a 2016 speaker.
Yo! You should do a new "best $100 dollar speaker" type vid
F6 Basic af EQ doesnât work in stereo pair mode btw, otherwise very thorough. Well done đđŒ
You can still use the usb-c port for audio input. For that simply press Play and Bluetooth till the Speakers turns off. From this moment the speaker only work via usb-c inout. To exit press the same buttons.
Iâm gonna be honest - a woofer/tweeter configuration still doesnât replace the instrument separation and width of dual full range drivers. Mono downmixing sounds terrible with modern songs. I understand that sound width and quality is very subjective, but when some song just refuse to play normally on the newer mono speakers while they work ok ok something like the archaic flip 1, JBL has a real problem.
I agree but the part were you said "some song refuse to play normally", I think it really depends on how the song was recorded. For instance, I know of some songs that when played on a mono speaker, one or two instruments are missing unlike when played on a stereo speaker. So it honestly depends on how the songs were recorded.
@@joshking4679 yes, but that shouldn't be an issue yet it is for mono speakers, thats why i believe mono is unacceptable. It's kinda like saying black and white TVs are mostly fine despite showing zero color information... and despite color tv being a standard for years. Same with mono, it's just inexcusable
@@PackardKotch yeah I agree
Mono has definitely been coming back. Most people i know just buy a flea market cheap Chinese tower speaker when they need something loud and they're great for loudness or parties but the quality is terrible
Hi, thanks for the vid. The 4 and 6 look actually much closer sound wise than the 5 that seems more "boomy" . Anyone else with the same impression?
The flip 4 stays in my hard becouse it was my first jbl speaker and becouse that speaker made me fall in love with jbl (i now have a jbl extreme 3 and a partybox 310 coming up)
I want to buy one. I don't have any JBL speakers, Which one should I go ? Which is worth?
What about the Latency in Flip 6?
My main purpose will be video streaming on my iPhone 13 pro and MSI Modern Laptop.
Should I go for the Flip 4 because it has Aux Port or the Flip 6 because it's have Bluetooth 5 and Type C?
The rubber feet are nice, but the similar feet on my GO3 and CLIP4 all started to fall off within 3 months of use. Hopefully it doesn't happen on the FLIP6.
my charge 5 doesnât have any of the rubber feet things and over only had it for a couple months
Really a drawback on build quality, sound quality for sure is better, but that make me think twice to get the new line up of jbl speakers which mostly use the rubber thing on a fabric, the body design before these are better
Huh? Wdym start to fall off?
Yes it do fall off very easily
I brought jbl flip 4 in 2018,now it still working and sound quality still awsome
I have a flip 4... probably going to wait for the flip 7
Me too. A relative of mine had one recently and just GAVE it to me so I got her black flip 4 for free :) it's a pretty damn nice speaker to get for free đ no need to spend $100 for a flip 6 when the flip 4 really doesn't sound BAD at all you know? I'll probably buy a flip 6 (or 7) when the battery finally dies
Still got my old trusty original JBL Boombox for my bluetooth speaker. Still works, no problems. đ
Battery lasts less than 1/2 hour and I have to use while charging which is working most of the time. Battery seems to charge but from a red light to 4 whites it only takes, well not long. Left with 4 lights and the 5th just don't wanna show his face.
I didn't know you you update them. I just bought a flip 6 to replace my 4 only because of battery issue. Hope it works. I've had it for about 4 years but I think its charging just not as it should. So I'm reluctant to change battery if its a charging problem.
Can I pair my 4 to the 6?
Can I use the JBL connect to update a 6 aswell? I imagine it doesn't need it yet as I only bought it an hour ago.
I had my blue flip 4 since sept 2017. I changed my battery once but now it's failing. Time to upgrade to the flip 6 which I'll cop in pink or gray.
Should I upgrade from my clip 4?
I really want the flip 6 but the Canadian price....
Hey bro @GYMCADDY ...i love your videos...very good review...but can u plz make a review the anker soundcore rave?TQ
Iâve been rocking with my charge 4 for 2 years
Iâm not upgrading from a previous JBL flip speaker. Should I be thinking about buying the flip four, the flip five, or the flip six?
Worth noting that flip 4 is stereo, 5 and 6 mono
I wonder how does it compare to Tribit Maxsound Plus.
Nice
The 6 sounds better but the 5 sounds rounded out, warm, and I like that. That 6 tho, gonna have to upgrade in the next year.
Spot on!
Flip eight needs a mic like the Flip 4... Silly decision from JBL to remove it.
Some things they could do to make me like it: get the aux back and put both of them under a cover, and get rid of that massive logo
Flip 4 is still good specially when you use at corner wall it will delivered big bass
I have a concern on the speaker phone function. I don't have a Bluetooth speaker right now. Flip 4 would be my 1st buy.
JBL customer service is telling me they don't have an app for the Flip 6 to change the EQ. What app did you use?
So because the JBL Flip 6 has no microphone, if I am playing music on my phone through the speaker, and somebody rings my phone, will I know if a call is coming through if I'm not looking at my phone? Thanks!
Is something special cooking for 100k celebration?
Can it be used while being charged?
Iâve just gotten the flip 6 I previously had the flip 4 I absolutely love them both my only issue is that thereâs no cover over the charger port which makes me scared to get it wet đđ
It's waterproof mate. Just wait for it to dry before charging it đ€Ż
and sand đ
@@marinadelucca8084eh once itâs dry you can blow into the charging port. I use the clip 4 has the same exposed port and it hasnât been an issue at the beach yet or the shower.
Idk why nobody talks about stereo and mono .. flip 5 and flip 6 are mono speakers.. no stereo separation .. piece of crap
While flip 3 and flip 4 are stereo speakers . They have beautiful stereo seperation.
Also don't forget that in mono many songs have phase cancelling issues which leads many instruments to become dead in life
Does flip6 fit into flip5's case. Thanks!
I just upgraded from a charge 4 to a xtreme 3 camo and a charge 5 camo to match the xtrem
I love how you pronounce it "shpeaker". :)
ХпОĐșĐ”Ń
Can you use the c Jack with the audio jack connector on this to make it audio jack
How about im upgrade my flip 5 to Charge 5.. is it worth for upgrade
I like my JBL 6 and it crackâs really good family and close friends đŻâđœđŻ
Does it make sense buying a second flip 4 for connect+ or just get a flip 6?
This is what I want to know I just lost my 4đ„Č idk abt the 6 the 4 was great fr
simple solution to the flip 5 shifting around is in the name, flip it. if you stand it vertically then you wont have any shifting issues.
Won't that warp the sound?
@@pamelah6431 no, no sound comes out the sides you see. all the sound comes out of the front left of the speaker (when looking at it head on), the right front side is where the battery is and the circles on either side are the radiators - they are there to stop the bass "leaking", keeping the base crisp but they also act as a cushion to protect the driver from too much internal pressure. they dont make any sound themselves, rather just help to keep the sound coming out the main front speaker crisp.
@@clockwork6966 Thanks for the explanation.
Itâs literally called the flip for that specific reason lol
my fav song sleeping till noon
Does it have mic?
My jbl flip 6 last only 3 hours on 90% volume. So is this ok or i received defective.
Question: If you have the JBL Charge 3 would you even recommend upgrading to a flip 6??
No,charge 3 is bigger and louder..flip 6 is more downgrade than upgrade..if you want upgrade from charge 3 you should think about charge 5
Thanks@@yungsnowjbl5431 just wondering if it is an upgrade or not.
@@miggymaglente6008 you welcomeđ„°
I will upgrade my flip 4 if my charge 3 or flip 4 dies. As long as both are working fine I'm not going to "upgrade" from stereo to mono sound.
Change the battery..it'll never dies
Same here. I've had my flip 4 for 3 years and haven't had a single issue with it. Besides the dual dynamic drivers it has, it also has a built-in mic unlike the flip 5,6
My flip 3 to flip 6 upgrade is gloms to be crazy
Is it worth upgrading from jbl flip 5 to jbl charge essential?
No
I have a flip 2 xD. Perhaps should upgrade.
JBL flip 5 not having an EQ is not an issue with LGs VXX Thinq phones. Default system wide EQ in the audio section. Only got 4 hours out of the Flip 5.. Took it back. Wasnt worth $140 at Best Buy.
What about Google Now or Google Assistant?
Calls?
Unlike flip 5 and 6, flip 4 has a built-in microphone and could be used to make calls
So ive watched about 10 videos and understood nothing
I want a speaker who is loud in this region of money like which one is loudest
Charge 4
Charge 5
Flip 5
Flip 6
Or anything else

Question for GYMCADDY, what's you're favorite speaker that you've reviewed of all time?
UE Hyperboom. I love the thing. Use it every single day.
Upper bass madness â
@@GYMCADDY very nice, been thinking about buying it to replace my broken charge 4
@@GYMCADDY I picked up the UE Hyperboom recently cause of you. Other then the awesome sound coming out of it I love all the features that it could do. Remote on and off plus input changes is so convenient! It doesn't have super low bass like my Studio 5 but it makes up for it by being so much louder and clearer. Not only that the battery life is a lot better as well.
I'm looking to pick up the studio 7 but still have my eye on a studio 6 in gray. If I see it for sub $150 then it's an instant buy for sure. The studio 7 are around $180 rn and even that is an awesome price cause I heard it's the best studio speaker yet.
