Nigeria ( Biafra included ), with a total population of approximately 187 million or more and a GDP ( the total monetary value in U.S. dollars of all the goods and services in a given year ) of 401 billion, stands above every single country on the African continent today. Not only that, when one considers some tiny countries around the globe such as Singapore ( 6 million, $290 billion ) and Switzerland ( 8 million, $660 billion ), one begins to see that Nigeria as a whole stands far below her potential.
I have spoken to many Nigerians, mostly from the West and the East of the country and some of them will tell you that, all that remains to get there are a few elements here and there to be set right. This video is a clear illustrations of what Nigeria is capable of doing to become what it ought to be today more than four to five decades after independence from the UK. Others have said that Nigeria has the capacity, economy and brains to be the only super power not only on the African continent, but one of a handful in the whole world!
Hence, what I have always said, is that Nigeria has not been spared from the leadership shortcomings pervasive all over the continent. Once Nigeria, and indeed every African country, gets GOOD GOVERNANCE in order, the sky would be the limit, as they say. I believe it is the only missing ingredient on the African continent to be addressed today. This video of the NDA and many other examples like it are a clear example of what we Africans can do to achieve something worthwhile by ourselves today and for generations to come. Well done.

I really wish the academy was solving problems related to cadets bullying, many junior cadets are treated like animals by their seniors with no repercussion for the seniors doing that. in their words it's called "Malice and Injustice".
The world has gone beyond such kind of inhumane acts that make no improvements to their military skills. Cadets would perform better off without it.

@ Zlyable . What am trying to say is that although Nigeria may have an army that may seem to be combat ready. Does it have the intellectual capability to successfully defend it sovereignty.... The Army needs to be restructured and adequate measures should be implemented to ensure it is self-reliant, . What am saying is empower the army to meet the security threats of the 21st centuary..

We may have made errors but we dont have a northern army. Females have always been in the Nigerian military under the DSSC, it was only the combat arms that were made available to females in 2011. Even the US army didnt have female combatants till recently. Mistakes are meant to provide learning points and every country learns from its past errors

I live here in USA and i have a friend who is a recruiter for West Point and he told me that if your family member is a General or you had a letter from a senator you are given a special entrance, you would still have to go through all the necessary screening. I'm sure that is the case for any country including naija

@ John thanks for ur faith in ur armed forces, but you fail to realise that military strength relies on a large extent on the independent capability of the army to create its own hardware, through innovative thinking of already existing technology. This allows already existing flaws in military technology to be avoided and gives ways to better and more effective inventions.. Nigeria military needs a restructuring and more funds should be put into R&D.

I love their uniform but I don't envy their lifestyle.
