    A month ago i had the brown algae bloom going. All the glass was covered in brown growth. After i was able to get rid of the brown algae, i then had a bloom right after. I thought it was a bacterial bloom cause my water was murky. I did water changes, cleaning the gravel, and even chemicals* but then i noticed the water was slightly yellow/green. So i tried some algae fix once. After one day, my tank cleared right up. It was floating algae? But anyways, my aquarium is still clear. 🎉 love watching your vids, keep it up Kaveman!

      Is okay to do large water volume change is not bad , but try an do 50% water change so the fishes can adjust to it and then you can do a larger water

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  Před rokem +2

      80% can be done in any tank but you'll want to gradually work your way up to that. Some tanks don't need to do 80% either and can do just fine with smaller water changes. I highly suggest you check out my playlist for beginners. It'll be very helpful for you 😁 - czcams.com/play/PLP5OXTIIDO8NYvhUHAmwAd54WFmS4d8er.html

    I set up a 10 gal tank for neons, let it just run for about a month with no fish and it was crystal clear. Then I added 6 neons, a catfish and an algae eater and for about a week or so it remained crystal clear, even with the feedings. But, I thought I'd add some small live plants and it got so cloudy, it looked like milk. So I took the plants out. Even with three more water changes (about two gals once a week), it's still cloudy but getting better. How did it go from crystal clear, added live plants, and it turned to milky cloudy? Every time I try plants, something goes wrong even in my 36 gal.

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It’s not the plants. The bio-load from the fish caught up to the tank. It’s very normal to go from clear to cloudy in a new tank that isn’t established. Checkout the first few videos at kavemanaquatics.com that discuss in detail what’s going on in your tank.

  • @user-tm8kq6wc5x

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  Před rokem +1

      Either your tank hasn’t fully established itself yet, or your source water contains high levels of dissolved solids feeding the bloom.

  • @cellardoor2197
    @cellardoor2197 Před rokem +1

    Just want to add that sometimes when you have really high TDS, for example here in Colorado my tap water is off the chart (>500 GH). larger water changes add a ton of extra minerals to the tank and can cause a Bloom. It usually will calm down after about twenty-four hours.
    Surprisingly it obly happens in my smaller tanks. The 10s and 20 long. My large 125 never seems to experience this. Could it be a issue smaller tanks would encounter because there's less surface area for all that bacteria so it has to be in the water when it reproduces instead of on a surface?

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  Před rokem +2

      Thats a great point. The dissolved solids in your tap are exactly the reason for your blooms. But in a well established tank a very short bloom (24 hours or less) is normal because of your TDS levels. But your beneficial bacteria will win that battle. 💪 And yes, smaller tanks, smaller bio-load, less bacteria to combat that high TDS.

      Sorry to hear that. Did you match the temp? Did you add water conditioner? Did you match the PH? The 80% water change didn’t kill them, it was some variable that was missed.

    • @KaveManAquatics

      I mix the hot and cold at the sink to warm the water before sending it to the tank. +/- 5 degrees is usually fine when water changing but I wouldnt fill with just straight cold if you're changing 25% or more...
