Ive taught myself to drive stick on one of these (branded as a Holden Rodeo in Australia) but mine is the 2.6? petrol model and has an alloy flatbed tray. Fantastic little ute... Hasnt been registered now for over 10 years but still goes. The cab is full of rust now but mechanically it is spot on except for the brake master cylinder, even with 500,000km on the clock when it was retired. We bought it to use the driveline in a Jackaroo but it was too good to wreck, and used it until it wouldnt pass roadworthy anymore from the rust.
wow I never seen one of these trucks before where thy sold in Canada I was a auto mechanic for 2 years I worked on lots of cars from 1960 to 2000 I also curbed cars to never came across one
@@altonmann7137 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_LUV The 1982 model year was the only year the 2.2 liter diesel engine was offered in the United States.
@@westpur Apparently, Wikipedia is wrong again. I have one sitting in my garage that is a 1981 (mfg Apr '81). It is 4x4, 2.2L Isuszu C223 Diesel, Mikado with factory air and cruise control. All of it is original equipment. Not trying to be a jerk to you, but don't believe everything you read (especially in a 2 minute internet search). Wikipedia is a general reference at best. I would love to find someone, maybe a former Chevy or Isuzu employee, that has some real insight into these things. I had never seen one with that combo before I owned it. I have now seen three.
@@altonmann7137 Well I bought several books on repair on the Chevy Luv as well. Perhaps everything I have read is wrong. But in the 3 books on repair of the Chevy Luv repair is wrong as well. Maybe you have a really rare truck. Kudos to you. I got mine as a graduation gift new from high school. It had 13 miles on it. A 1982 Chevy luv diesel , standard trans, with AC. The radio still works as well. A little care and they last forever.
@@westpur Thank you for the response. I had a thought, but it's just a guess. Maybe, at least some, of the trucks were made in early 1981 but didn't hit the American market until '82 and were, therefore branded 1982. Given the time period and market, I don't think that is an unreasonable guess. I'm curious of the date on your truck. Also, for what it's worth, NADA let's you choose 4x4 and diesel options together on an '81 model. Of course that could just be a glitch or mistake.
does it have a turbo and did they come with turbo's because i have a 79 luv 4x4 and i've gone through 2 1.8l gas and thinking about puting a diesel in it.
water temperature and pressure. i had one of these. took a while to get up to 55mph (which was the max. speed on hwy at the time.. save fuel). but i got over 50 mpg. actually more like 55 mpg.
My grandpa had 1, i loved it and am saving for my own
