    Gypsy Road (B. Dickinson/ J. Gers)
    Bruce Dickinson: Vocals
    Janick Gers: Guitar
    Andy Carr: Bass
    Dickie Fliszar: Drums
    [Lyrics]
    Living in the city
Can be a cold and lonely place to be
    Living in the shadows
Where there is no sun, there is no breeze
    Drinking stale water
Having to pay for the privilege
    Talk about your freedom
I'll take you where I think it is
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
Gypsy road, welcome to your dreams
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
    Gypsy road, oh, gypsy road
    Living by my own rules
A rebel yell and a rebel creed
    Keep your life simple
Try not to take what you don't need
    Think about freedom
    Dream a little every day
    Suddenly you'll find yourself there
Follow me, walk this way (yeah)
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
Gypsy road, welcome to your dreams
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
    Gypsy road, oh, gypsy road
    Gypsy road
    (alright)
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
Gypsy road, welcome to your dreams
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
Gypsy road, welcome to your dreams
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
Gypsy road, welcome to your dreams
Gypsy road is the highway that I run to
Gypsy road, welcome to your dreams
    I'll find my dreams
    You'll find yours, too

''Gypsy Road'' is a song from Bruce Dickinson's debut solo album, Tattooed Millionaire. It was released in October, 1990.
Dive Dive Live video can be found on ''Anthology'' DVD (Disc 1) by Bruce Dickinson, released on June 19, 2006.
''Anthology'' is a 3 disc compilation DVD by Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer of Iron Maiden. The DVD features three live performances as well every single promotional video made during Bruce's solo career. The DVD also includes over an hour of extras and unreleased footage.
Disc 1 features two live performances, the first is from the Tattooed Millionaire tour entitled Dive Dive Live, Bruce's first tour as a solo artist, and the second live performance is from the Skunkworks tour 1996 - Recorded in Pamplona and Gerona, Spain on May 30th and 31st 1996.
Dive Dive Live was filmed at the Town & Country Club in LA, August 14,at the end of the "Tattooed millionaire" US club tour in 1990. The video was directed by Jim Yukich (known for his work with Iron Maidens "Live After Death") and the personel were the same as on "Tattooed Millionaire", except that Dickie Fliszar handled the drum duties.
The material consists of practically all material from the Tattooed Millionaire-sessions (except Darkness Be My Friend from the All The Young Dudes single) including Bring Your Daughter...). The set also included some cover songs the band did on the tour, Deep Purple's "Black Night", AC/DC's "Sin City". They had previously done Free's "Wishing Well" on the European leg of the tour and in the US this one was replaced by Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter.
'' 'Tattooed Millionaire' is a hard rock album released in 1990 by Bruce Dickinson. It is his first solo album. The album project began when Dickinson was asked to record a song for the fifth Nightmare on Elm Street movie, which became the song called "Bring your Daughter...to the Slaughter". Collaborating with future Iron Maiden guitarist Janick Gers, Dickinson began to make a solo album which was fundamentally different from his works with Iron Maiden, sounding much more rock-oriented. "Bring your Daughter..." was not included on the original album but Iron Maiden later recorded a different version that was included on their 1990 album No Prayer for the Dying, which coincidentally became the band's only number one single to date. The introduction to the song "No Lies" is also reminiscent of Iron Maiden's version of "Bring your Daughter...to the Slaughter". All songs written and composed by Bruce Dickinson and Janick Gers, except where noted. ''
The album was recorded in Battery studios in London and was produced by Chris Tsangrides. It featured the Mott the Hoople cover All the young dudes (also released as single) which Bruce changed the words for. In the line "My brother's back at home with the Beatles and the Stones" he exchanged the word "brother" to "father", since he thought it was such a long time the original words were written that it fitted better to have his father back at home with the Beatles and the Stones.
The album was a way for Bruce to ventilate his workoholism but he did nothing that he thought would scare people off as it was made "under the watchful eye of the collective", i.e. Iron Maiden. '' (Sourse:The Bruce Dickinson Wellbeng Network)

I am completely in love with this awesome tune. He shows the more hippish and free-loving side of one of the most amazing vocalist ever been on stage. I wish you would have more experimented more with this before going back to the usual classic metal dear Bruce (which is amazing anyway). Skunkwork was a great work but fans were not ready for it. Thanks for everything you continue to give us.

It's a little like Corey Taylor, with Slipknot he roars and screams, with Stone Sour he gets to be more melodic.

I’m the biggest Janick Gers fan but he definitely isn’t. However, I believe he’s one of the best Rhythm and Harmony guitarists. For lead, I’d give it to either Ritchie Blackmore or John Petrucci. However, Murray is a potential contender among others. Janick is one of my favorites though and overall, he’s tied for my first favorite along with Ritchie Blackmore! He is really underrated too!

hese just good, he has many styles of playing guitar, dave and adrian play their guitar allways in the same style witch makes the style of iron maiden. its better with 4 guitar riffs in the most of their songs and janick moves and plays like a maiden

Hello, my English is bad, can anyone tell me the meaning of "Gypsy road" ? where the meaning come from?

    • @McMullet97
      @McMullet97 Před 8 lety +3

What he said at the start was that the song came from him sitting in a traffic jam, just thinking of a perfect place to live, a Haven if you will. When everything around you is shitty, you dream of a place where you can go and live without any troubles.
The word 'Gypsy' comes from the term that describes travellers. They travel across different countries and for Bruce, they have a lot more freedom than he does, hence why he wants to live in a 'Gypsy Road' where there's no cares or worries to think about.
