Didn't watch the whole video as i'm just quickly browsing and seeing whats out there for these sorts of ideas ;)
Just be careful of H2S as it will kill you quicker than CO2, and yes it smells of eggs, but if its around and you don't smell eggs, that's when the ppm is a little higher, you lose your smelling sense due to the concentration and you pass out and die. Not sure how or if you are venting the H2S, but just be aware of the dangers with H2S. I'll watch the video in more detail later. The dangers of H2S are drilled into me at work for enclosed space entry on ships (tankers).

Excellent video I appreciate you filming your experiment. To stack on to the safety warnings if your bleach solution becomes too acidic you're going to have a chlorine gas generator. This is what commonly kills people when they accidentally mix bleach with vinegar or ammonia.

Just a small comment I didn't see around. As a means to see the actual contents of the individual filters I do like the DIY option.
However for something like 15 bucks a piece you can get 10 inch waterfilter housings. Looks really clean and includes all the parts needed. You could put two mesh filters in a row, first one gets eaten, move the second to the first position and refresh the filter for the second position. Same for other filters if needed, however clay is dirt cheap and so is water, so you can just switch them out more often, but I do like the option of having the first filter be completely used up before replacing.

I learned to be mindful of where I put the spent steel wool after it melted the plastic bucket I put it in. Once the steel wool gets exposed to air again the oxidation reaction is exothermic. It probably would not have happened if I changed out the steel wool sooner!

Look into adding a “liquid line filter dryer”. They are used in hvac systems to remove moisture and contamination from ac system refrigerants.

Hydrogen sulfide is a mucous membrane and respiratory tract irritant; pulmonary edema, which may be immediate or delayed, can occur after exposure to high concentrations.(like sniffing scrubbers) Symptoms of acute exposure include nausea, headaches, delirium, disturbed equilibrium, tremors, convulsions, and skin and eye irritation.

Is there any way of testing the biogas percentage as it comes out of the digester (pre filtration) opposed to it coming out of the storage bag?

The egg smell is from the Fe2S3 breaking down at room temperature and releasing H2S. So it’s best not to smell it and put the filter material directly into some Fe2O3 powder(rust) to further process It down.

  • @semihtolgahaydaroglu7618

weight of hydrogen sulfide sinks to the bottom compared to other gases.co2 gas stays above other lighter gases. The last gas to come out is hydrogen sulfur. You can also turn carbon dioxide into a by-product with sodium hydroxide. Carbonate is beneficial for plants.sodium hydroxide directly absorbs carbon dioxide. It neutralizes it and carbonate is formed.

The steel wool filter should be safe to chuck in the trash as iron sulfide( the end product) is not water soluble and is only mildly toxic if ingested. Check with your local waste peoples but in these amounts it should be considered ok to chuck it in the bin.
