philbegas Agreed. It's one of my all time favorites. Not until just recently though did I give it the proper time and attention. Blu is a cool ass dude
As an old, OLD hiphop junkie, I love hearing real ish like this, takes me back. So much music out and so much of it noise, it's hard to find the jewels. Thanks to those of you who keep it real, keep it moving, and keep us seniors up on it. Peace
I love that retro vibe. You can tell this cat grew up on De La, Tribe, Nas, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, etc. Blu was J. Cole before J. Cole, but with a more melodic flow.
This album came out after I graduated college man I listened to this before going to my new job it was a new world for me and Blu was the voice. Good times
This is one of those songs where I feel like I'm traveling time. Reminds me of high school. Everything I'd do with my friends, biking miles and miles for fun, where everything was fun and laughter. Everything was unexpected. What a time to be alive. Thanks blu.
Still not sure what happened with Blu..when I first heard this album it was the era where socially conscious/lyrical/feel-good rap music was starting to a stronghold in the mainstream. Guys like Kanye, Lupe, Kid Cudi amongst others were coming into prominence. It was incredible because, for the younger people who missed this era you’d have to understand EVERYTHING in hip hop was the gangsta shit or the commercial dance/ringtone bullshit. Hip-hop was at its most stale in terms of content but the artists I mentioned above helped to reinvigorate creativity within the genre by taking risks and staying true to themselves. To me Blu is an artists who should’ve helped that cause. When this album came out it left me astonished in the same way College Dropout did when it first came out. I thought Blu was up next, not sure if it were personal issues or label mismanagement but it’s a shame. Still, Below the Heavens is always going to be a personal classic of mine..genius work that Blu & Exile were doing at this time.
I completely agree, it’s just a shame that these truly hungry artists don’t get the spotlight they deserve. But what can you do? People love brainless hip hop radio music.
Blu and Exile never stopped making great music. Check out their new album Miles and their album Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them. Both are great
It was label issues what messed his career up imo he was on his way to blowing up especially after being on the xxl freshmen 09 but the label he was signed to wasn’t letting him drop music nor where they promoting him well. But he still makes great music you should peep his “miles” album and “the color Blu(e)”. Both fire 🔥 albums if you ask me
It's crazy how I felt just like you when I first heard this song at 16 around 2011-2012. I either heard this song first, or "Just Another Day", when I was first introduced by him. Once I heard Untited (LovedU)2 though I knew he was going to be my favorite rapper of all time. I've heard a lot of good artist throughout my years like Oddisee, J.Cole, Nas and more; however, Blu will always be considered to me as the one of the greatest rappers in my generation!
One of my favorites! it makes me happy to know I gotta catch blu and exile maybe 2 years ago, they closed a show in LA . The crowd had died down big time i was in shock like wtf no ones gunna catch them? This one got dropped and i was feeling soooul amazing!
whenever i read comments on blu videos i feel like we all the same, in different times, i found blu during the pandemic and it always reminds me of whats really important when i hear certain songs. like the world keeps telling me get money get bitches get followers (ik this sounds corny) but fr its just about spending time with people you love and doing what u need to do to get you there. so easy yet so hard to ignore the noise bc only when the noise is off do you realize your alone and thats scarier. I realized yea just be alone and with time and effort youll find people who really love you. time is limited friends take action now
BLU is to you as water to life , like this sone extraordinary--- took me a couple of listens to understand this song deeper- on of the great songs of our time
Before Kendrick it was this guy (Blu) puttin’ on for Cali and the West with his coded and cold raps and flow! This song and whole album is one of the greatest albums of the 00’s hands down. 🫡💯🔥
Blu is the rapper you see throughout the video. Exile is the producer you see at the end of the video standing next to Blu with the boom box. Below The Heavens is the album they both made together. Blu also has solo work and other collaborations with other producers. Below The Heavens is a classic album. Another artist you should check out is Fashawn, check out his album "Boy Meets World" which is also produced entirely by Exile.
There are very "few but true" original people in the world ,everybody is a follower ,This dude is "da realist" , so happy to hear someone your age is up on game-keep it alive !
MizzyMauri the Producer Yeah just look up Emotionless Thoughts by Capital STEEZ. It's a Blu and Exile beat and in an interview STEEZ said that Below the Heavens was an incredible album
this is 1 of the dopest tracks ive ever heard. not 2 many ppl can make a beautiful song or beat but they did it. this beat is beautiful. exile is 1 of my favorite producers and i almost own his entire catalog. they are truly amazing and i can't wait until part 2 of this album comes out. this is what Hip-Hop needs 4real
twelve years later and this song still gives me the chills... this song influenced me heavily. True introduction to lyricism.
Same brotha wish we can kick it with the dude
Dude I still jam this and so many of their joints everyday. They should be replacing Pete and CL and beyond.
Facts it still hits
Same here man, 2023 still sounds fresh as f

Below the Heavens is a classic to me. So perfect in every way. If this album doesn't put you in a better mindset I don't know what can help you. Blu!
Honestly though, that entire fucking album is incredible. I was so young when it came out but I'm still feelin it.

Agreed. It's one of my all time favorites. Not until just recently though did I give it the proper time and attention. Blu is a cool ass dude

@@simonsinistaj1917 ah man, thank you! I love finding dope samples.

I found him in my junior year of high school and he is mos def underrated
As an old, OLD hiphop junkie, I love hearing real ish like this, takes me back. So much music out and so much of it noise, it's hard to find the jewels. Thanks to those of you who keep it real, keep it moving, and keep us seniors up on it. Peace

+MH DOOM I absolutely agree dude. Blu is a fucking genius. He should be at the top right now!
This song took me through high school, wouldn't be able to make it without blu
I love that retro vibe. You can tell this cat grew up on De La, Tribe, Nas, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, etc. Blu was J. Cole before J. Cole, but with a more melodic flow.
Kory Green As soon as I heard Narrow Path the first thing I thought was yoooo that sounds like J Cole...defo got a similar vibe
@@djmsup j.cole sold out to the industry blu never did.
Don't ever mention a sucker toy like Lame Cole to Blu.
Yea bro I like J cole but Blu is miles ahead of J cole. Don’t ever compare them two.
@@alfredobadillo2415 Lame Cole💀

This will forever be one of my favourite hip hop.albums of all time
Such a gorgeous beat, soulful as fuck
"No Biggie with the No Pun intended"....one of the sickest lines EVER!
This track still sounds heavenly

they did blu so dirty man, he deserves so much fucking more and me and pretty sure everyone else will stand by that.
Thank God I found this. This was my theme song when I was homeless in 07'

Mumble rap isnt really even ms anymore, nearly every rap song on the top 50 this year has been melodic rap
@@jeffjeffy7765 agreed man!!
Right here 😎
First song I ever heard from Blu. Still visit this album from time to time.
This song will always remind me of a good friend of mine who passed. 23 yrs old and vibrant. This song is forever be my memory of him.
melody , flow , lyrics , charisma & all - so much soul here ; this is music!
So so much soul
Classic album, no words.
"I'ma ease through your soul like you're blowing trees" listening to this song after you've blown trees is the highest high. Elevated...
It's weird, he's from the west but his music sounds like its from the New York.
Came back just to get reminded that this got me threw high school
Check out their new album "Miles" its really good. So is their 2012 album "Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell them"
Same here
it took 7 years or this video to hit a million views, and this is his most popular song
yea while the music video for ''hot nigga'' got more then 20 million views in the first week
"Hot Nigga" is not even rap. It's trash. On the other hand this is a classic. This is real rap. #Bluandexile
fatpichu Hot Nigga is fire fam. Don't get me wrong this is better but Bobby had slaps
it's a good one but were there any other videos made from this album?
i always thought dancing in the rain was the most popular
one of the best ever. shit like this boils down to subjective matters, but since 2007 this has been unmatched for me
I pissed. I heard this for the first time last month. Been banging it everyday since. This is true authentic hip-hop peeps

This video deserves an upscaled version.
Blu is in my personal top 5. influenced tf outta me. wish he had stuck around and really kept his momentum going.
as far as a little different peep Oddisee. his album "Thats Love" is one of my fav albums
Blu is a god, he is my favorite artist out there, his tunes are just so easy listening and proper sick. He deserves so much more credit.
Just moved to California, will definitely be looking for his music.
I always end up here when I'm looking for inspiration. This guy always makes me step up bars.
