Excellent tutorial. So easy to understand, lovely clear voice, no loud music...Thank you. I am so very new to machine embroidery and the great tip of cutting out the ribbon area eliminates a huge amount of stabiliser wastage. Love it❤️

Great Video I make pouches and wanted to add a small label hope It works for small ribbon too. Your instructions were easy to follow. I would have never thought of the window and love how you can use hoop over and over. Thank you

Hi Kathy. What length of lanyard are you using? I was thinking of embroidering neck tape for my bow ties but i'm curious if there's another way than using the large 9.4 X 14 hoops. The tape would be about 1 inch wide but 13.5 inches long. This is the tape where the numbers go so you can choose what shirt size to hook on to. Anyone with suggestions on this please let me know :-) Thanks!

Great tutorial Lias. I have added embroidered labels to the back of many quilts but have been looking for something a bit more professional. You nailed it! I’m going to work on a design to use for my little side business that will incorporate the year made as well. I also plan to create business cards that can accompany each quilt I create.

Great video, thank you. Have you considered using a different colour ribbon for each decade? Quilts last a long time and will always know which decade your quilt was made
Love it! I like how you can custom make each one to the color of your project. Could also put the date on the other side. Off to purchase ribbon today!

This is very interesting and I was happy to see how you do all of this. I'm not a sewer but from time to time I do some and it's fun for me. So my skills are really lacking in sewing. thank you for showing the step by steps as I am a visual learner and this helps so much for me and I'm a senior too..85 LOL so I can use all the help I can get. Great video...love this idea...would a hot knife seal the ribbon so the ends wouldn't fray? You might want to check how many tie ins and outs you have on that neat logo. thanks for the great idea.
hmmmm, I'm not sure???? I've never had to seal the ends of the ribbon because the raw edges get sewn into my projects, therefore they won't have issues with fraying. I'm going to pull the design up and check that, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'd really like to get that quilt block right because I think it's so cute, but yeah, it tied knots all throughout....

What other kids of ribbon would you recommend for labels, if I want to use something rougher and less delicate?

Hi Maggie! You could certainly do that if you want to cut your ribbon long enough to do that :) I do think it would still need extra support in stabilizing it so that the ribbon doesn't shift and move around.

Do you need a separate sewing machine to stitch it onto a garment? Can you use the embroidery machine to do stitch in the as well?
some machines are combo machines......which means they will do both sewing and embroidery. I have a machine that is embroidery only.....so on my machine I would not be able to stitch the label into a garment......only do the embroidery part.

Hi Lisa do you need a special embroidery machine. Could you recommend a make n model. I’m still not sure how to do this kind of work on my Janome 12ooo it’s a lot of work to even fit the embroidery unit to the back. Need something fairly easy to use. Thank you for you tutorial. Hi sweet Carole ♡♡♡ I just watched some videos about your machine and you can definitely use the machine you have to do embroidery on ribbon ♡ unless you get a embroidery only machine, you'll have some sort of module that you'll need to attach, much like yours. I have the Bernina B700. It's an embroidery only machine so the module stays on all the time and so I don't have to set it up each time, however its pricey for only doing embroidery. I'm on the fence if I would reccomend this machine, just being honest, it's my first Bernina and I find it cumbersome and picky. If you have another sewing/piecing machine I would say set up your Janome for embroidery and leave it that way and then watch some tutorials about your machine ♡♡♡ and if you have questions let me know
Could I float WSS on top of the tear away? Taping it down with the ribbon?
Not 100% sure as I've never tried it, but don't see why that wouldn't work :)

Nope 🙂 Since then I've started sublimation and it's a much easier way to add logos to tags 🙂
I have an industrial embroidery machine digitize everything myself. I’ve been using cotton twill. Of course I can do 40 tags at a time in like 20 minutes. If I get time I’ll digitize and send it to you.
Hey Lisa, how long does it take for your machine to print one such label after you press "start"? Is it closer to 5 minutes or 50? Excellent tutorial, thanks for sharing
Hi Alex! Let's see......for a simple design like just my initials it only takes a minute or two. The machine has speed controls so I could slow it down or even speed it up. Sometimes the amount of time it takes to stitch out a design depends on the way it was digitized. With simple fonts it should go pretty quickly.

yep, I use Embrilliance to digitize designs......I've still got a lot to learn but it's coming along. CZcams is a great learning source heheeee
I have a brother se 400 and I know you can digitize the patterns but my mac doesn't compatible to the machine. I just eyeball all my stuff but sure would love to learn too. They don't really tell you how to do that when you get the machine. And everything costs money. I've learned to get the pes files for fonts from Internet. But can't put them correctly even because I don't have the software. It takes so long to figure all this stuff. If you have ideas share please 😉
Of you don't want to digitize your own there are lots of Etsy companies that will digitize a logo you have designed for a reasonable price and their shop sites have photos of what people have sewn using the designs they have digitized for them. Search for "machine embroidery digitizing".

Hello, yes the ribbon is washable.....not sure about the red ribbon bleeding but I don't believe so
