St.Mary church (کلیسای ننه مریم ) is an ancient Assyrian church located in the city of Urmia, West Azarbaijan Province , Iran
In terms of age, st.Mary church is the second oldest church in the world and the first oldest church in Iran
Current old building of the church belongs to Sasanian era and its interior design is a combination of Sasanian and Arsacid architecture.
A Chinese princess, who contributed to its reconstruction in 642 AD, has her name engraved on a stone on the church wall. The famous Italian traveller Marco Polo also described the church in his visit.
Briefly prior to the World War I, it was converted by Russians to a Russian Orthodox church.
In early 1960s, the old church was restored and a modern church with a spire was built adjacent to the ancient church.

درود بر شما , یک کلیسای دیگه در اواخر قرن 18 در ارومینه وجود داشته که کلیسای بزرگی بوده که فکر کنم از بین رفته . من آنرا یکبار در سایتی دیدم که متعلق به یک فرانسوی بود و در همان حدود های خیابان خیام بوده اگر از ارومیه ای ها کسی از این کلیسا آگاهی داشت جالب است که این تصاویر را در سایتی بگنجانند. دلایل بر چیده شدنش ممکن است اختلاف بین مذاهب مسیحی باشد. چند سال پیش خواندم الان بیاد ندارم اما بهتر است معرفی شود تا در یاد ها بماند زیرا که متعلق به تاریخ و فرهنگ شهر ارومیه و هموطنان مسیحیست تا جوانانی که در باره اش نمیدانند مطالعه کرده و بیاموزند. حتما کسانی در ارومیه هستند که در باره اش میدانند. سپاس
