I once watch a video of a little 4 yr old black girl cry because she wanted to be bathed in bleach so she could turn white and be pretty. It kills me that pride in your culture, skin tone, facial features and hair, isn't taught. I remember being little and just being envious of my black friends because I sincerely loved their skin tone and how their skin would just shine and be glossy in the sun. It would look so smooth and perfect. Even the older black women would look beautiful. "Black don't crack" I would hear. Jess, you are beautiful and you are the beauty standard to millions of individual people. Maybe not the marketing department, but to us regular people who do live in the real world with you. You are the real standard of beauty.

Scary accurate, especially the PR one. I share similar features and coloring with Alexis. Her photoshopped result is exactly what I (when I was younger) always wished I looked like. Hated my curly hair. Hated my skin color and dark eyes. Took a longgggg time to love myself and it’s still a struggle from time to time. PR media isn’t helpful. Most of the people, women especially (example: female tv hosts on WAPA/Univisión, Telemundo, last year’s Miss Universe PR and this year’s) have eurocentric features and it’s hard to feel like you’re also beautiful. I know it’s superficial but it still affects people. It breaks my heart to see young girls like my little sister who say they don’t like themselves or their features because they don’t really see anyone like them in our media.
Necesitamos diversidad en los medios YA, y dejar de negar que nuestro país es racista y colorista.

I wanted more melanin too because I thought that I looked like a ghost. But at the end of the day, beauty standards are toxic af. Everybody is beautiful just the way they are!! You, me and everyone is beautiful! And I learned to love myself and people should learn that too! ❤❤❤

    "Beauty" Recap:
Gadiel: Take every element of what makes his face memorable, attractive and masculine, then replace it. Also RUIN TF OUT OF his naturally glowing melaninated skin
Lauren: Give her an ashy skintone that clashes with her eye color and counteracts the gold In her skin, then hide her healthy looking fluffy 4c coils under a $40 wig and shrink her nose i.e. ruin her proportions.
Alexis: Deprive her of oxygen for 3 hours, flat iron her hair and give her cat contacts.
Eli: Take the warmth out of his skin and face, then turn him into a Ken doll with giant ears and boring hair.

What's funny is i kinda went through something similar growing up a very light skinned black woman. I got teased and talked about saying i wasn't black enough or they would actually go so far to say i thought i was better, unfortunately some light skinned black folks acted like that so we all suffered the stigma.
I grew up hating my skin tone, especially during puberty, because when i developed acne EVERYTHING showed!! I,at that time, wished i was darker. Thankfully im much better with my self esteem now.

Oh Eli...you have been my "ideal" man since I saw your first video. Then seeing your videos of your papi and knowing that you have his genes and will mature and age with such beauty and grace, made you even more attractive. Please know that even though that you and most of us latinos don't meet the beauty standards, but to those of us who are the ones subscribing to it, WE SAY THAT YOU ARE THE BEAUTY STANDARD! Don't ever feel less. You are a crazy handsome, extremely sexy man and we, your fans see that you're beautiful!😍
