    On NB1 99 I found two more wires on the driver side, when I was lifting the softtop. The wires seemed like a ground to the frame and kind of a spring button (sensor) - may be a part of theft protection system left. Window heater connectors were already done.

    Curious how long it would take for a complete removal and replacement of top and rain rail (average time for home mechanic, not someone who’s done it a bunch already)…?

    Besides cleaning drains, is there Anything else you would suggest doing or changing why you have top off? Are new door seals normally needed? Thank you!!!

      As much as the soft top is in the way of the rollbar install, it's definitely better to just leave it in place. I personally hate installing softtops on cars with rollbars, it's even more in the way.

    Tip from me for removing the inner rails (what he does at around minute 5): if you don't have a tool for removing the clips, you can just yank the carpet around them. Just give them a firm and fast tug. For me, 1 clip broke and 2 went through the carpet, but the carpet didn't get damaged and these clips basically cost nothing. Also it is totally safe to sit on your center console, at least if you are under like 200pounds. Makes it very easy to do that step

    I have a 1990 Miata was wondering if a gearbox from a different car would Bolt up or would I have to build brackets and all so can the big bulky airbox be replaced for something smaller

    • @RedlineAutoParts
      @RedlineAutoParts  Před 5 lety

      On the 1990-1993 1.6 cars it gets a little tricky to replace the airbox because of the size and shape of the air flow meter. Some companies sell adapters so that you can mount a cone filter to the air flow meter and eliminate the air box, but at that point it's just sucking in hot air so it's going to suffer from a performance perspective. Of those intakes available, the Racing Beat one would be the better option.

    Would it be ok for me if I leave the soft top down and put a hard top on for the winter season. Does this damage the soft top if it stays down for a couple months?

    • @estebanrodriguez7276
      @estebanrodriguez7276 Před rokem +1

      Yes it would! If it's a top with a plastic window, as long as it is folded down evenly it'll be perfectly fine. I would just wait till a warm day to try to bring the top back up since the plastic windows get very brittle in the cold. If it's a glass window top then no concerns.
