Top 15 BEST Flash Games of All Time! (RIP Flash)

I used to play Flash games pretty much everyday as a kid , and even now I still play them time to time. I thought of using all that experience and playtime to create my own list of the best Flash games on the internet. I ranked them based on:
Quality/content first (how good the gameplay is and how much content the game has)
Originality second (how much the game innovates and differs from other games in its genre)
Popularity/impact third (how popular the game is and how much it inspired other game developers, if at all)
I also had a few rules when making this list:
-No idle games, since they are hardly games at all (I don't hate idle games, I actually like them and played them a lot)
-Free games only. Premium content, Steam versions, etc will not be considered.
-Only one game per series. There can't be multiple Fancy Pants games on the list, for example.
Every game shown in the video were recorded in full screen. A few of the games don't upscale their graphics and end up looking fuzzy as a result, sorry about that.

@Shyguymask Have you ever heard of or even played the flash game MARDEK 3? Imo, it's the best Flash game ever but it isn't well known so I wasn't really expecting it to be on here. The game is an RPG game and provides a good story, good battle system, good items, lots of play time, originality, etc. If you ever do a part 2 (which I think you should) I'd love to see it on there.

I remember once I played fire boy and water girl with my brother and I got so mad because we were so close to the end of one of the last levels and he accidentally jumped off the platform.
Yeah The levels was not only pushing blocks and jumping and solving puzzles like other games they had a unique feature There were lava and puddle of water in the game water girl would die if she touches lava but would be okay at the water same for boy but sadly my brother did not like it so most of the time i was alons

there are three people a female nazi a soviet and an american they are in a building that you have to renforce to stop the ever more dificult zombie hordes and when you finnish i think about a week a helicopter gets you out of there i can think of it as clear as day but cant find it or remember the name

One of it was really buggy. I think it's the board game. Really sad becuase it's very good. If you played it you'll most likely know that the game freeze after you finish the first level, and if you refresh the tab all your progress will be gone.

Everytime when there are too much bloons it becomes very laggy
I made it to wave 107 on my bad laggy computer on the planets stage and had to stop it because it was laggier than smash ultimate online
I crashed only when I used blade maelstroms. once used 50 at once in a online multiplayer match with my friend, managed to force us both out within 15 seconds

What's great is there is really no true way to narrow it down to 15. There are so many excellent choices out there and I think this is a solid list so kudos!
As some one that played quite a bit of flash games I'm amazed how little of these I have actually heard of. They look fun though.

Hands down EBF 5 is one of if not the best RPGs you can get on pc.Still salty it only got number 2 but I understand why BTD 5 won as it created a large fan base leading to BTD 6 the best tower defense game period.FIGHT ME

Eduxgamer_1000 there are so much flash games and each have their own opinion, for example, I think that elephant quest is one if not the best (I completed the entire skill tree)

It is a great game but I prefered another game i think it was called sands of the coliseum or something, you literaly could just focus your crew on somebody and cut his head, arms or legs it was so funny but yeah swords and sandals is a very good game and its a shame that the flash games are going down

But you're free to say your favorite thing about those games and why you think it's one of the best flash games. EDIT: With all that said, I think I'm actually going to make a bonus video featuring more Flash games that are obscure but great if not comparable to the games on the top 15.

I loved it because it was the only Papa's type game that I could consistently do well on
Sad to see no Swords and sandals 2, plasma burst 1&2, Raiden X (epic gameplay and soundtrack), Raft wars 1&2 or maybe even Mario combat. But can't blame you for Mario Combat, it's short af. Like 2 games I played made it into this here though, good list overall.

Here's something, there are 309 levels in Run 3, and EVERY one of them can be beaten with every character playable on that level(some of them like the N-tunnel and The Way Back have limitations on characters due to the storyline)

Qendrim Jashari dude I’ve been playing rotmg for like 7 years and somehow it hasn’t died yet, the community is still strong and it’s gone through 3 owners (wildshadow, kabam, and deca). They’re porting the game on unity and it was planned in like September last year and they’re taking ages but it’s the only way to preserve the game

i got about 40 hours on epic battle fantasy 4 and more than 160 hours on epic battle fantasy 5 on steam, the game is goddamn awesome.

I just hate the fact that these games are so underrated,i swear if you go to someone and ask:have you played ebf 5? They will be like:you mean final fantasy? I wish a big youtuber or something will play the game so the community will start growing
I will note that if you've played the other games, 5 feels a bit awkward until the VERY end since there isn't an apparent continuation from the last game. Don't let it gnaw on you too much, all will be made clear eventually... Also go check out Matt Rozask's other games.
I started replaying the series and when I was starting EBF 4 the 5th game just came out and I saw it randomly by going to Matt's NG page to see how's the project going. I completed 3rd game, have only 2 achievements to do for 4th and plan to start 5th soon.

Strike Force Heroes was the greatest thing to happen to me as a kid. I remember the kids had to take turns on the computers because there were only 4 and how you weren’t allowed to play or watch violent things. Now that I think of it, Strike Force Heroes 2 has the strangest story but also the coolest in every boy’s eyes. The nostalgia flash games brings me is so immense and is something I will hold dear in my heart.

but i think what you miss is less so flash games and moreso the *era* of flash games, i'ts not like i've got concrete proof or anything, but it does feel like less impactful stuff is being made on the web nowadays
but something about flash games i find REALLY fucking odd, and i seriously can't even begin to explain this phenomenon, is that when flash developers move to steam they seemingly almost always lose just about every piece of knowledge they had about game development
you can see this with super chibi knight, the remaster for SFH, knightmare tower (this is more of an honorable mention but seriously? no mouse support??) sonny, etc etc
it's like the barrier between "extremely good flash game" and "actual game" has some supernatural effect that drives the game designers crazy 💀

they're essentially the peak of escape room games
although i have to warn you, the second game has a single math puzzle, and even after knowing exactly what to do it took me like 15 minutes to do the calculation cause i was never taught it in school 💀

Ah, Flash games - back when the Internet was but an uncharted territory for me, and online entertainment was but a novelty. I don't even remember how much time I spent on ArmorGames playing all these classics by developers celebrated in our small community. Take Something Literally was my start - a fun puzzle game that required your knowledge of the operating system/the applications you'd use on a daily basis (still recommend it, even if a couple puzzles are now quite dated). And then the ball just kept rolling. John Cooney was my first big name in the Flash game community - he has so many games it's crazy (most are quite fun, others not so much). Anyone remember the Ball Revamped series? As frustrating as it can get (especially the first game, that one is just hell near the end), it still feels rewarding, and it gets better with each installment. The ball itself even became one of ArmorGames' mascots and was once a merch item (it might still be one, I have to look it up)! The Four Second series was a major collaboration effort between him and many a Flash game dev - dated as hell, but still fun to revisit every now and then. Exit Path 1&2 definitely deserve a shout-out - a crazy escape platformer with sick presentation, awesome original score and multiplayer! And then there's all the blue elephant games: Elephant Rave, Obey! The Game, the Achievement Unlocked games, the This Is The Only Level games (4 wasn't made by him - we don't talk about TITOL4), Elephant Quest - all fun and unique games on their own. I'd definitely recommend checking out his back catalogue, there's a lot of simple, yet addictive stuff.
Next was Joey Betz, whom you might know as the creator of the Crush The Castle series (how come it wasn't on the list?! It's a classic! It's basically proto-Angry Birds, and more fun!) and the Sushi Cat series (easily the most recognisable Flash game mascot out there). Same concept, simple, but very fun. Then there's Anthony Lavelle, creator of the Shift series (okay, not including at least one Shift game on the list is practically heresy - it's an iconic platformer puzzle game with an awesome main mechanic, for crying out loud! 3 even featured a cross-over character Fan- I mean Mel Gibson!), IndestructoTank and K.O.L.M. (so sad the 3D remake never hit the goal on Kickstarter, would've been awesome!). Then you got Chris Condon/Con Artists, who made the The Last Stand series (1, 2 and Dead Zone never clicked with me, but Union City is still one of my favourites, specifically the gameplay that separated it from its predecessors). Louissi had a couple good games here and there (Neon Rider is neat, and Armor Mayhem is a killer multiplayer platformer). Brad Borne is an absolute unit - the Fancy Pants Adventures games are all solid platformers with fantastic presentation: the visuals, the soundtrack, the gameplay - all the makings of a classic. Lovely series. Then there's the dark horse of Flash games by the name Daniel-sun, creator of the Armed With Wings series (a dope action-packed platformer with a SICK monochrome aesthetic - 3, Red Moon and Culmination are definitely the best among the flash ones - he even has a PC follow-up on Steam which I've yet to play).
But my one true love of Flash gaming is, undoubtedly and unquestionably, the most ambitious game developer in the community - Krin, of Jakrin Juangbhanich. The Sinjid and - most importantly - the Sonny series will forever be my benchmarks of what a great flash game can be. Sinjid Battle Arena is kinda meh, but Shadow Of The Warrior is a classic in many old-school Flash game players' opinion and for a good reason - it has many features fir a turn-based RPG and still feels nice to play, despite having been made way back in 2004! And Sinjid 2013, despite being a major departure from the originals, is hands-down one of my favourite Flash games of all time: the visuals are absolutely gorgeous, the score is unparalleled, and the gameplay is fresh and unique (even though the game itself doesn't really take advantage of it most of the time). It is truly something to behold. But, of course, the Sonny series will forever be his magnum opus, in my opinion: the blend of a perfected turn-based system and a unique and intriguing premise make for an overwhelming lasting impression. The first game is simple, but charming in its own way, but Sonny 2 is an absolute beast of a game: the darker tone and presentation, the cinematic cutscenes and the incredibly fun gameplay, complete with many creative ways the player can beat the game, as well as David Orr's incredible and memorable music for all of Krin's games from Sonny 1 onward truly make Sonny 2 one of my favourite games of all time period. I even wrote a guide for Shadow Psychos back in 2012!
Watching this video also showed me just how many great Flash games I missed out on: N, SMB63, Smash Flash, Burrito Bison, Chibi Knight and so on, some I've never even heard of, other I've never bothered to check out. It truly is sad that the era of Flash games is coming to an end. So many great memories from that time...
Sorry that this comment ended up being such a huge wall of text, it's just that Flash games were such a huge part of my late childhood I can't help but reminisce and recommend a few titles here and there. All in all, I'm super grateful that Flash games like this existed (and still do!). Long live Shockwave Flash!
Hell yeah dude, Ball Revamped is the good stuff. The fact jmtb02 got "rage" games done right back in the 2000s is quite the achievement and you call tell I'm right with how the Ball Revamped games always get low ratings on flash game websites because of salty players. The games don't have pretty graphics, good music or a story to keep you interested or to calm you down, it's a pure raw skill rage game that require ridiculously precise control and patience and it would drown the gaming community in salt if it was released and popular today.
One very good Blue Elephant game that has gone under the radar is *LOOT The Game.* I don't know if you have heard of it but it was one of the newer blue elephant games and I heard no one talking about it for some reason. I'll definitely check out some of the games you mentioned!

I for one remember the Gemcraft series of Tower Defenders, because they were unique in that they focused more on a gem's properties in a tower, trap, or amplifier rather than a ton of random towers.
Let me put it like this, if you thought your top pick had a ton of tracks, Gemcraft: Labyrinth has 169 unique tracks. And it's sequel, Chasing Shadows for Steam is also in the triple digits for the level count.

Elephant Quest and Fancy Pants are great but they are short games even for Flash standards, especially the former. My personal opinion is that they didn't match the 15 games on the list in term of quality, content, originality and popularity/impact. While Strike Force Heroes 2 has a lot of content in the end I find it to be a fairly generic 2D Shooter.
I was debating on if I should include Achievement Unlocked 3 or Fancy Pants on the list, in the end I went with AU3 because of its originality (as a series).

The problem with SSF2 is that Smash Bros is primarily a local multiplayer game, and local multiplayer on PCs is much less accessible than on consoles. SSF2 has online, but in my experience it's extremely buggy. And the game obviously doesn't focus on offline singleplayer either. Lastly, the game pretty much scores 0 when it comes to "Originality". If the online didn't basically crash my game half of the time I try to play, it would be on the list.
