Personally, most of these issues did not exist for me. I do admit tho, of the 4 main characters, i only really gave a shit about Willem and Jude. And i did find myself impatient near the end of the book. This part of the book is also where the misery porn ish elements sort of ramp up to an extreme amount. For the most part, it did work for me and i did tear up at multiple points in the book. It didn't bore me (until nearing the end) despite my not being into slower books. I recently read 'Wolf at the Table' which does some things similar to this but is overall way better paced and shorter. Maybe check that one out? Idk? I can't really get a grasp on your likes and dislikes from this.
