England were wearing a different version of the red shirt from the one they wore against France. Here the stripe is under the V-neck and it's a thick white one with a thinner blue one going through the middle of it. Against France, they had a white stripe above a blue stripe, running either side of the V-neck.

Didn't they have to rush out a thinner version of the home and away shirts because the original ones were trapping sweat? That World Cup was played in sweltering temperatures and the players were losing pounds in fluid after every game.

@@thewomble1509 That's right. Argentina had the same issue in 1986. The blue shirt they wore against Uruguay was different from the blue shirt they wore against England.

Typical case of negative management. When they played Spain it was win or go home and Greenwood left the changes until way to late .fast forward nearly 40 years on and southgate is following the same pattern except Southgate is spoilt for choice with gifted players where as greenwood and any other |England manager prior was not

@@namelesswhocares8648 That game turned out to be one of the best matches of all time. Some people even say the best. England didn't have the same quality as Germany. Germany's best player played injured in this World Cup and was only brought on late vs France and taken off early vs Italy. Germany beat England at Wembley a few months later 2-1 after being 2-0 up with Rummenigge scoring both goals. German had an insane team from 1966 to 1990 and they made three consecutive World Cup finals from '82 to '90. The argument that England were better was certainly not demonstrated at any time. It was a team designed to avoid defeat that couldnt score goals when they needed to. Germany also had the best keeper in the world and Italy had a very easy semi compared to the German semi in Seville. With a fit Rummenigge And not having to come back from 3-1 down vs France who knows what would have happened. But they were freaking strong.

@@luperamos7307 Yes the german had a good team, but speaking of injured players, how about kevin keegan and trevor brookings if they were healthy?. Wc 82 was mired in controversy for the germans. From losing to algeria to that shameful match against the austrians ( where germans burned their own flags) and finally, if that dutch referee had any sense. It should have been a red card and a penalty for the french.
