Glenn Miller is playing trombone in this music video, The man with the ball cap is Tex Beneke, the group singing with him at table are the Modernaires, the Tap dancers are the Nichols Brothers, and the woman that was singing with them is Dorothy Dandridge. All were famous way back in 1940's. Glenn Miller died in WW2, a US Air Force officer, Dorothy Dandridge died in 1965.

That is the real Glenn Miller playing the trombone out front. For a GREAT movie on Glenn Miller's life starring James Stewart as Glenn Miller and June Allyson as his wife. It 's a fabulous movie and you get to hear all the great songs that Glenn Miller wrote and performed with his orchestra. My Dad was a musician who played Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute and Violin. He played with the BIG BANDS of the '40s and '50s. I MISS tap dancing, it has become a dying art and you hardly see it these days. SO SAD.

The man fiddling with his jacket is Milton Berle, aka, Mr. Television, Mr. Tuesday Night and Uncle Miltie. His career lasted 8 decades, starting from silent movies as a child actor, working in vaudeville, radio and TV, mostly as a comedian. He became America's first major TV star.

This is from the early forties. It is my parents and Aunt and Uncles music. They loved it and spoke of it often. They called it big band. The horns were very tight, the vocals and dancing were great also. Thanks for this. I enjoyed it immensely.

Love the Big Band era, especially Glenn Miller. He's the one who gave us "Flight Of The Bumblebee". He has one of, if not the most mysterious deaths in music history.

Glenn Miller is one of my favorite older artists and Blue Orchids is one of my most favorite songs. :) He doesn’t always sing, but his voice is so smooth when he does. He was in the USO and he died when the plane he was in was shot down somewhere over the Channel. Most likely shot down by Germans but it was never found, so hard to confirm. Such a fascinating, talented person.

BTW, those are the famous Nicholas Brothers who were amazing dancers. They did some dancing segment where they were on some stairsteps, jumping over each other, one stair at a time. I can't remember what show that was, but I remember it very clearly from the show/movie.

Glenn Miller was one of my parents' favorites. Sad end but many people died in the war. Amazing how after the war it started changing over to smaller and smaller backing bands just focused on backing up singers as opposed to the instrumental. If you watch the 2nd group of singers/dancers you never see them on screen with the first group. On screen segregation. Even the military was not desegregated until after WWII.

    Danny
Glenn Miller at the age of 38 wanted to join the war effort during WWII. He was too old for being drafted and volunteered for military. He asked US Navy for his services. They didn't need his services. Glenn asked US Army for a need of his services. They accepted his services. He joined the Army Air Force. His services are mainly music. In December of 1944, his plane disappeared and possible crashed from Belford, England route to Paris in the English Channel. Glenn Miller was 40. But his music will live on forever.

Not surprised that you were asked to react to this music video featuring Glenn Miller, many of Angelina Jordan's fans like music from 1940's 1950's jazz big band standards, which makes up much of Angelina Jordan's music.
