Bob Seger is timeless. Can never go wrong with him
AMEN!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
meeeeeeh
I always tell people that he doesn't have a single bad song! Even his cover songs are just as good as the originals, and he usually puts a little of his own mustard on them to make them his own.
Fact!
Like a rock? 😆
"She had been born with a face that would let her get her way" is one of thegreatest lines I've ever heard.
She looked at him with those soft eyes so innocent and blue he knew right then he was too far from home great line
I'm with you. Amazing line unlike anything anybody else has ever written.
@@lisarousseau788 Incredible too.
i saw Bob. No explosions. No drum solo. No flash. No nothing. Just one of the best shows i've ever seen.
Same. When I saw him in 2008, he just told stories of how each song came to be. No politics, no bullshit.
Fantastic show.
One of Bob's best is "Little Drummer Boy". The heart and soul he pours into that is unmatched.
Bob Seger never, ever disappoints. You will also like 'Rock n Roll Never Forgets' and 'Her Strut.'
@sam-zm5zwyou can come back baby, rock and roll never forgets!
Her Strut was about Jane Fonda.
The most Late 1970s thing I ever did: drive a rental car into the Hollywood Hills while playing this song on cassette, all by myself, on one of my first business trips. Little girl from South Carolina feeling on top of the world. What a memory.
Lol! I can relate. Drove a convertible up into the Hollywood Hills in the early 90's as the sun was setting. Just don't recall the music at the time but let's just pretend it was Seger! ✌
I was walking down Sunset one night on vacation, with a couple friends. A cab pulled over to let someone out. This song was playing. Great timing
@brucedillinger9448 I actually experienced this song playing on the radio while driving through the Hollywood Hills in the mid-90s. And I'm from Bob's hometown, Ann Arbor, Michigan. I was in a rented sedan, but nevertheless, that shit was mystical.
Way to live! Great memory!🚘🎶
that's so cool
My Grown Children! Tell me the thing thay remember most about All of our road trips and yearly vacations is Bob Seager blasting from car stereo!.😂!❤
Your next Seger song should be "Shame On The Moon." It was actually #2 for the YEAR on the COUNTRY chart back in the day, only behind WIllie Nelson's "Always On My Mind."
💯!!!!! Gotta do Shame on the Moon ❤please
I came here to say that very thing. 😊
Rodney crowell covered it,
Rodney Crowell wrote Shame on the Moon. I recommend giving him a listen if you like good stuff.
Rodney Crowell wrote it
“Night moves” is my all time favorite. Another great guitar riff in this also. “Shame on the moon” is a close second. Bob’s my favorite artist, so anything will be good as you both know by now. But the two I mention, imo, you will absolutely love!
You just can't get better than Bob Seger. I've done all Seger road trips, it's phenomenal! Thanks for doing more Bob
Saw Bob twice and nobody could make it sound like you were listening to the album like him. You always got your money’s worth!
Can’t go wrong with Bob! He’s great!❤❤
Can you not just visualize this entire story? THAT is great writing,.
Bob Seger paints a picture with all his work.
He writes most of his own stuff. Such a storyteller he’s hard to beat. He did a duet with Martina McBride called Chances Are that’s worth a listen.
I've suggested this one so many times. So far, no luck-fingers crossed. It comes from a movie that I think they both would enjoy starring Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick, Jr, Hope Floats...
Yes, so true
Quick Story. When Bob first listened to this finished track in his car he found himself unaware of his speed and noticed he was going 90 m.p.h. He said the two drummers did that.
I keep commenting on your Seger reactions..he always has a line or two that you can't get out of your head. Loved him forever
My second favorite Bob Seger song ever! Behind Night Moves. Love you guys.
Gotta do Night Moves, even if you heard parts of song, not likely you’ve seen the video.
Thannks so much for reacting to the great Bob Seger. He has not had a bad song. He is the real deal and I love that so many of his songs make you want to hit the road for a road trip. Great reaction to a great singer and band. 👏👏❤️🇨🇦
Legend has it that Billy Payne (of Little Feat) sat in with Seger and the band for the first time and played the last two instruments, piano and organ. When he was done, he asked for a tape to listen to on the way home. He called Bob the next day to tell him that while he had been listening, he looked down and found himself going 100 miles an hour on the freeway!
Jay &Amber, you'll love his "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" and "Night Moves" !!!
You’ve Got To List To His Song :
NIGHT MOVES
Oh it’s so good, great guitar sound and his great voice!!!
I love all of his songs but Night Moves is my favorite!!!
They did "Night Moves" 2 years ago. It's pretty much the first Seger song anyone hits. Of course they did it.
What you should do is dig out "20 Years from Now", which IMO is a much better song. It's what "Night Moves" wishes it was. JMO
Please provide a link to their reacting to "Night Moves," @@Jessica_Roth. I searched CZcams, and I searched within the RSR channel, and it didn't show up for either. In the results for the former, I found two other reaction channels' videos to the song. In the results for the latter, 15 other Bob Seger songs showed up. With these two things, I find it unlikely that their reaction to "Night Moves" has been blocked.
I don’t think they’ve done Night Moves ….I watch them three times a day… haven’t seen them do it… and others have requested it too…unless it’s on their paying channel??
@@susanliltz3875 It came up in the search I did last night. As I say it was 2+ years ago, so may have been before you watched the song. Searching YT for "rob squad seger" will find all their videos (unless they have been taken down)
I remember playing my dad's album over and over. What a great era for music. And Bob just always takes my memory to summers and a time unfortunately gone.
This is Seger's best song in my opinion! Love that is starts right off with all that energy and never lets off.
This one is great, but it's gotta be Turn the Page! 😁
Starts off on a heater, that’s for damn sure!
"Then came that morning, he woke up alone". That lyric gets me every time.
Shame On The Moon, The Real Love, and You'll Acompany Me are needed reactions by Bob Seger❤❤❤
Every Bob Seger song is a needed reaction
I think they already reacted to "You'll Accompany Me"...
Good ones..but where is " Main Street "?
@@creaturecaldwell9858 I think they did that one already
@@Deborahtunes don't see it in their reactions...🤷🤷
Bob is Classic Rock. My mom's favorite song was "Still the Same." It's the first Seger tune I ever learned on guitar, and it was just for her. Now...are y'all EVER gonna listen to Van Halen again??
Bob Segar IS one of the great American troubadours telling the American experience.... Long may his music touch your soul!!
His music will never get old!
Bob Seger - the soundtrack to my misspent teen years. BETTY LOU'S GETTIN' OUT TONIGHT. You'll love it!
My dad’s favorite ❤️
Bob Seger was responsible for a huge part of the soundtrack of my youth. Even though he has sold millions of albums, toured the world multiple times and is in the R&R Hall of Fame I still think he’s underrated.
I lost my husband of 30 years 3 years ago and the only thing that kept me sane was Segers “ Famous final scene”. You should check it out.
Going to have that song played at my funeral. Perfect exit song! ❤
Amazing song, one that I did not appreciate the way i do now.
Sorry for your loss.
Thank you @@triggerwarning5762
Bob Seger is fantastic no matter what song! Crusing tunes is right on!👍👍🤟🤟
"You'll Accompany Me" and "Fire Lake" are a couple gems 💎
Can NEVER go wrong with Bob.
I just listened to Beth hart “ tell her you belong to me” she has the same soul as Seger .what a song
One of my favorite lines is from this song, I use it when my grand daughter, age 5, wraps me around her little finger,. "she was born with a face that will let her get away"
Oh yes!!!
But don’t go driving while listening to this one , Bob gave his friend a copy of this song when he first recorded it and his friend listened to it as he was driving and he said all of a sudden he looked at the speedometer and saw he was doing over 80 , the beat got him going!!
Gotta set the cruise when listening to this one. 😁
Ramblin' Gamblin' Man is another Banger by Bob Seger. One of his early ones
He always paints a picture with his songs. You just close your eyes and he lays it right before you.
Bob was very good friends with Glenn Frey of the Eagles. Glen was from Royal Oak, Michigan while Bob grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In the late 70's Bob spent a lot of time in the LA/Hollywood area. Recorded in 1978: "Seger said "The chorus just came into my head; I was driving around in the Hollywood Hills, and I started singing 'Hollywood nights/Hollywood hills/Above all the lights/Hollywood nights.' I went back to my rented house, and there was a Time with Cheryl Tiegs on the cover...I said 'Let's write a song about a guy from the Midwest who runs into someone like this and gets caught up in the whole bizarro thing.'"
You can’t go wrong with Bob Seger!
I was thinking of the piano “when the waves tumble over the sand,” probably my favourite line in the song.
Yeah, he's definitely at the top of his storytelling game on this song. It's just one awesome line after another.
"She had born with a face that would let her get her way. He saw that face and he lost all control."
was wondedring if he could ever go home also
@cameronpickard7456 Yes! Because he doesn't mean physically. He's talking about mentally or maybe even spiritually home. Yeah, that line gets me every time.
That incredibly difficult drumline and driving bass makes this song phenomenal. Best of Seger and the boys
Incredibly difficult because it is two drums, one overdubbed on the other ~ Don Brewer was fantastic at drumming this tune live in concert...
@@kellycraig-slogar6676 Don Brewer from Grand Funk? I didn't know he played in the Silver Bullet Band.
@@mperezmcfinn2511 Yes that Don Brewer - After GFR broke up, Craig Frost the keyboardist, started with Bob in 1980, then Brewer in 1982.
@kellycraig-slogar6676 Ah, so that's not him on the recording. Got it. Sadly, I never got to see Bob live.
@@mperezmcfinn2511 David Teegarden is the drummer for the original recording on Stranger In Town album - I saw Bob live 13 times - the first in '77 and the last in 2019, two weeks before his final retirement tour show in Philly - No one brought it live like Bob did back in the day!! First time I saw him was right after Live Bullet was released and it was just like being there when that album was recorded!! If you have never listened to it from start to finish, do it!!
My wife and I had Bob in our back drop dating, and 43 years later He still Rocks our world.
"above all the lights she had all the right skills."
"He knew right then he was too far from home"
"He saw that face and he lost all control"
"wondering if he could ever go home"
Best lines of the song
You two have lasted the longest as far as folks that I've enjoyed watching reactions. Two people that are clearly in love with each other. Two people opening their eyes father than most do. Thank you.
Bob Seger is my Karaoke go-to. Impresses all the older peeps in the crowd 🤣
'Wondering if he could ever go home..' absolutely haunting lyrics. This song is a masterpiece.
Bob Seger was inspired to write this song when he saw supermodel Cheryl Tiegs on the cover of a magazine. The whole story formed in his mind instantly. I remember buying this album as soon as it came out. It was his follow-up to Night Moves. I have been a fan of his since the first time I heard Turn the page off of the live bullet album. And I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert several times. Even managed to sneak in backstage with my best friend once at the Nassau Coliseum when we were both in high school. Didn't get to meet him but saw a glimpse of him driving away in the limo! Genre? Roots Rock
I love how Amber ALWAYS pays attention to and appreciates the lyrics.
Greetings Jay and Amber
Yes this is quite the song by Bob Seger. This is the ONLY song Seger claims to have gotten the inspiration out of nowhere while driving around. At the time he was renting a place in the Hollywood Hills. The lyrics, "Hollywood Nights / Hollywood Hills / Above all the lights / Hollywood Nights" came into his head and had to turn car around to write them down and not forget. He could even imagine how his backup vocal singers would be singing their part.
Once he got back home, he saw the Time magazine cover with Cheryl Tiegs on it and decided to make the song about a Midwest guy that meets a girl like that. The drummer on this track was David Teegarden (oddly enough) from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Billboard mag described it as "a gut crunching rocker with all the stops pulled out", reaching 12 on their chart within a few weeks of release. "A solid rocker about a Hollywood romance" was the review of another critic at the time.
Songs like this keep proving (overall) that the most nostalgic, appreciated, enjoyed, and all-out hits came between the years of 1975 and about 1995. More 'Hits', "Bangers", "Chart Toppers", "Award Winning", "Solid Hits", "Greatest Hits", etc. came during this 20 yr. period than any other, so far. Furthermore, it happened across all the genres of music.
Bob's greatest cruising song: Travelin Man / Beautiful loser from Live Bullet. Grew up listening to that album.
The next Bob Seger song you might want to react to is "Night Moves," another one of his many big radio hits.
My favorite song by him. To me, his music is a road trip by myself, driving the freeway at night. Window down and the cool air hitting me in the face. All his music is that to me.
Bob Seger came up with the chorus to this song when he was driving through the Hollywood hills in 1977.
the girl is also a metaphor for Bob's relationship to the music biz , a mid western boy being taken in by the glitz beauty and money.
This was always my favorite Seger tune until I got older and my appreciation for 'Against the Wind' grew with every birthday.
This one has one of the coolest drum riffs. Easily one of his best.
My all time favorite song is Against the Wind.
You know what it is about that drum beat? It's a gallop.
Please tell us that you don't listen to these songs just one time. The best of them get better with every listen. You hear more. You understand more. You enjoy more. Real art--and Seger is in that category--does that. Love it.
There is a live version of this from ‘76 or ‘77 in San Diego that is PHENOMENAL. His hair is long and he’s sling it all over the stage while strumming his guitar. Do yourselves a favor, and watch it.
Mr Seger was a one of akind!! Grew up listening to the Stones, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Lynryd Skynyrd, Boston, etc, and Bob tops them all!!! Little tide bit, my Godfather looked exactly like him and for years my older siblings had me convinced he was him!!! 😂
If you haven't, you have to listen to his Night Moves and Still the Same and Shame on the Moon and You'll Accompany Me and Rock and Roll Never Forgets and of course one of his earliest, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man.
Apparently after recording this song, the producer took the demo & listened to it on the way home in his car, half way home he looked down at his speedo & noticed he was doing way over the speed limit.. Thats the drive this song gives.. The drums, the guitar, the bass just keep driving the song on & on & on.. Classic song..!!
Almost forgot; if you want a different side of Bob Seger check out his duet with Martina McBride; the song is “Chances Are” from the soundtrack of the movie “Hope Floats”.❤❤❤
Yes This Track Was Featured On The Opening Credits From Hey Hey It’s Hollywood From 1991.
he isn't lying. a night from Venice beach to the holly hills, the Grifith observatory to Turnbull canyon it gets u every time. its beautiful the vibe all night.
No matter how many Bob songs you both listen too, you will never go wrong...Bob and his band has never made a bad song.
Excellent, my favourite Bob Seger song!
Pure americana Seager is a god...💯🙏has one of the best live albums of all time as far as I'm concerned...
...and his vocals added to the back up vocals makes a sound like a huge church organ! Beautiful.
Beautiful people! Such a joy to watch your reactions, but this one really showcased your smiles and pure joy! My wife and I love who you are, even though we are much older and have never met you guys. Bob is the best of the blue eyed soul singers. Amber stated his lyrics and stories are really great and I agree with her. Springsteen, John Melloncamp and many other contemporary singer/ songwriters are brilliant, but Seger is unique!
His live album “Nine Tonight” is full of classic, classic rock. Each song a timeless gem. Each song surpassing its studio original. The perfect roadtrip album.
On the way home, you could always groove on “Live Bullet.” Those two albums are a true anthology of greatest hits. These live versions of these songs are the preferred bill of fare for any classic rock station playing Seger.
Ramblin' Gamblin' Man was his first hit I think, great song.
I can’t believe nobody has asked for Breathe “Hands to Heaven” yet. Amber might cry when she hears it.
I love, love, love Night Moves, but this is my fave of his. LA is so full of hope, beauty, glamor, desperation and longing and they all exist together like a soup … “He knew right then he was too far from home” just captures all of it. Also, YOU KNOW HE MUST HAVE LIVED THIS SONG!!! just timeless and fantastic.
3:53 sometimes his music is referred to as heartland rock (whatever that means) but it’s really just straight-ahead rock and roll without any fancy s**t. Incidentally, Bob Seger is a big fan of soul music. He would often cover soul songs that were put out by Hi Records - that’s the label Al Green was on before Al turned to gospel music.
J and his genres. smh Just call it rock n' roll! LOL For those of us who grew up listening to Seger, he's the foundation of our rock experience. I think that's especially strong for those of us from Michigan. He's the godfather of Detroit rock n' roll. I don't think he's ever made a bad song.
@@justjulesinmi eh, it ain’t J’s fault. Most of these genres were made up by journalists describing the music. In fact some words we now use to describe certain genres, like rap, actually predate the music they now describe. For example, jazz organist Brother Jack McDuff had a record out called Moon Rapping. “Rap” here just refers to a way of talking.
Bob Seger songs should always be watched with closed captions. Just so many great lines you miss because there are so many hard driving songs.
I remember seeing an interview long ago with one of the people who worked on the album (engineer, producer, something) - he said after they had laid down this track, I put a raw copy on cassette, and listened to it as he drove home late at night. After it had been on, he noticed he was going 100mph and thought "yeah, this is a hit!"
Please do "Famous final scene" by Bob Seger. It's my favorite by him! 😁
Now this is a man with TALENT! I love listening to Bob Seger, the man, the myth, the legend! His music is immortal, and is enjoyable no matter what you're doing. Thanks for playing this, Rob Squad! You never can go wrong with this man!
Oucam-na ao vivo com Tina Turner, no show Nice & Rough! Tina dá um verdadeiro SHOW!!!
Ultimately a song about being alone in the big city. So much promise at first, loneliness in the end. What a kick ass song.
Saw Bob live in Detroit in 1978. He rocked the house when they did Hollywood Nights. The crowd was loud & nuts all the way through it. Absolutely killed it!!!
My parents went to that show and brought me back a t shirt. I wish I still had it.
Bob Seger is in a genre all his own. Much like many groups of the 70s, Silver Bullet has a unique sound. See, back then we didn't really classify music into genres. Either you liked it or you didn't. You could literally go from Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty to The Eagles on the same station and nobody cared. If you didn't like what was playing you just waited and soon something you did like would be on. Bread, Boston, BTO, to Kiss to Steve Miller to Carly Simon... it was all good
Fun fact about the drum part on this song: It's actually two different drum sets playing dubbed over each other. I remember seeing that story in the liner notes for the Greatest Hits CD when I was younger.
I want to say this is yet another song written about Christie Brinkley. She left a lot of musician's broken hearts in her wake.
Hands down my favorite Bob Seger song, and one of the great songs of rock, period. Classic.
Great story Amber!! Midwestern boy meets a sparkled up Cali girl….;) If Bob was a painter, his paintings would be priceless! His songs paint a picture that sneaks into your soul and makes you feel all they lyrics. His lyrics bring greater meaning the older you get too, they bring you back to your younger days. Like a rock and night moves are just a couple that take me back.
Ahh Bob Seger. You can never go wrong with any one of his songs, in my mind they re all good. Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp all wrote and sang about Americana in the 70's and 80's. Even those not from America enjoyed their songs
Bod Seger's "Understanding" is really good too. BUT ALL OF HIS SONGS ARE❤❤❤❤❤
Bob Seger is a total VIBE!! LOVE HIM! So many fantastic tunes! Thanks for sharing more of his tunes!!🙌🌞🙏❤❤❤❤
Bob Seger is very under appreciated imho. He’s a wonderful composer/lyricist/poet/storyteller/singer and his catalogue is amazing. I had the great fortune to see him live in the early 80’s and it was a fantastic show. He’s right up there in the top ten rock gods in my book. Great choice guys 🌺✌️
The drums are 2 complete drumset parts played on top of each other - if you really zero in one each ear of your headphones you can hear the 2 different hi hat parts going on. Also, the repetitive single then double snare hits were intended to simulate driving over expansion joints in the road which you don't run into very often anymore.
Bob Seger is a consummate storyteller, and his music just soars. I don't think he could write a bad song if he tried.
His song writing skills are top notch.
Love, love, love, Bob Seeger. Love Night moves and Sunspot Baby. I've seen as many concerts as I can. He's rock and roll. His voice is awesome! Thanks for this!✌️
He was around before Bruce Springsteen..I get the feeling that Bruce was a fan. Thin Lizzy covered his song Rosalie after opening for him around 1974.
This song coming up on the car radio has been responsible for more speeding tickets than ANY other song in the history of music.
This is the perfect summer song!
Would love to see you react to Bob Seger's "Nutbush city limits". Be sure to check out the live version. Sending good vibes!
Him live was one of the true joys I gotten to see in my life.
I like to call his kind of music heartland rock. He and John Mellencamp, though they’re completely different from each other, both perfectly embody that style of music.
