I hate it when people say: “my hamster doesn’t burrow...”.
But really they only have an inch of bedding in the cage.
That would be like giving an Olympic swimmer a pool with one foot of water and getting mad at them for not swimming in it.

Give your hamsters the proper care they deserve.
For real! I used to give my hamster little bedding, (that's why he didn't burrow) Gave him almost a foot, he was burrowing all over the place :D
I actually had to teach mine how to burrow. He used to live in a cage with less than in inch of bedding. It was ridiculous, when I picked him up some spots actually had no bedding. When he came home with me I gave him about ten inches. He didn't burrow but I started burying him a few inches deep at a time. Now he burrows all the time :D
Nah my hamster really doesnt at all. He is like 1,5 years now and i gave him loads of beddings and tubes (his cage is like double the size of this shown in the vid btw)and stuff and he only burrowed in his first week when he was looking out for his nest but never did since. Its just a waste of bedding and money. My hamster likes to climb instead. There is no stereotype animal so its better to adjust ur care to the needs of ur pet.
@@nannynanan I agree with you. You should adjust to the needs of your pet, but putting in lots of bedding is not a waste of money. Maybe your hamster only will burrow when you are gone. You should always have at least 7 inches of bedding otherwise the hamster cannot burrow.
@@marshmarlow4197 believe me he doesnt want to, i tried. I even tried different beddings, different hights of bedding. He is just not into it. He is also not into sand bathing. Maybe he doesnt see the need in it, because he feels safe enough or isnt bored at all xD i would've enjoyed to see some burrows though. But i got a special bean there i think...😂

you are my favorite youtube ever. when i got my first hamster, i was in 7th grade, and i knew nothing about hamsters, i just really wanted one. and so, after school one day, i convinced my mom to take me to petsmart to “look at the hamsters”. and we were looking at the hamsters, when one of the employees came up to us a told us about. a hamster they had in the back, who as free since he had a neurological condition, and that is what convinced my mom to let me get a hamster. they said he was a winter white, but i soon discovered that he was a russian blue robo. and as i mentioned, i knew NOTHING about how to care for a hamster, and i had only brought about $60 for the hamster and all of its stuff, so of course, i went for the cheapest cage they had, which just so happened to be the smallest one they had. it was a little, $20 tiny tails cage. along with the cage, i had also bought a small little bag of clean and cozy bedding, a hamster ball, and a bag of all living things hamster seed mix (which was really bad and i don’t think they make it anymore because i can’t find it anywhere). and about a week or two after i had gotten him, one of your videos popped up in my recommended on youtube, and i decided to click on it because why not, and it was your first “reacting to my subscribers hamster cages” video, and in that one, someone had a very similar cage to mine, and i remember you saying that it was a very small cage and that they should upgrade, and i took that into mind. i was curios, so i watched some more of your videos and i remember you mentioning bin cages and diy cages, so i asked my mom to take me to walmart so i could buy a bin cage for bob (the hamster). i went to walmart, and bought bob a bin cage, some more bedding, a water bottle, and a new wheel. and bob is dead now, but now i own 2 gerbils, jerry and noodle, who live in a 55 gallon tank, and i have an entire tik tok account dedicated to educating people on proper pet care, and it’s all thanks to you! ❤️

Without you my little guy would still be living in a 10 gallon tank with 3 inches of bedding and a pure pellet diet. now he is living happily in a 465 square inch bin cage with 10 inches of bedding, a nice sized sand bath, a water bottle and dish, and a great variety of food! I adopted a dwarf hamster as a companion pet and after watching your video I realised I had to set up the home better for her. I bought her a bigger house and studied her for a week. At the start of the week she was happy. Then she had a day in a bad mood and didn’t seem happy. So today I watched another one of your videos about natural environments and then went to the store and bought more bedding and some tunnels then filled it to make it look like it was a natural environment and I’ve not seen her so happy. Thank you. The video and channel has made the difference. An excited hamster is a happy hamster. 👍👍🙏❤️🐭🇬🇧

@@brookejohnson8289: Pets at home. They do three sizes. Their largest one is only £30 and comes with a house, food bowl, water bottle, and a large shelf but you have to buy tubing separate. Their small and medium ones comes with all the kit.

@@VictoriaRaechel hey Victoria i just wanted to tell you that you have litterly helped me fix my hamster care so much he lived in a dumb 200 sqare inches cage for like 2 months then i got my parents to buy him a 471 sqare inches he lived in it for 3 months until i realised i wanted a detolf so i made my mom buy me a detolf and now he lived in it so happy :)
I still cant believe i had horrible hamster care and now that i began watching you it has been amazing- i littertly love you smmmm thank you for everything!!

When I was younger my mom bought me a hamster, a friend got us a cage, it was not very good, but I tried my best to research properly but the cage was such a hindrance. Now I am older and have money I want to do it right with a 75 gallon aquarium and plenty of enrichment, a good sized wheel and 6 inches of bedding. I used to watch your videos about 4 years ago it’s good to see that you still upload

I am a new hamster owner and I have a little dwarf, I purchased a small tiny tails cage from pet smart as recommenced from the employee. I honestly had no idea that hamsters ate all those fun and healthy herbs. I didn’t know they needed so much bedding to burrow, but it totally makes sense. I am so glad that I found your Chanel!!! I am going to do a serious habitat change for my little guy, thank you and I can’t wait to put together his new big home with all this fun stuff.

Hi Victoria, I just wanted to say thank you for all the informational videos you have made about hamsters and how to care for them. I just recently got a 75 gallon tank and have been setting it up with the help of your videos. If not for you, I would have had no idea of how to care for a hamster.
My hamster's hideout is on stilts, some nights she burrows so much the hideout is levitating by morning 😅
I wake up and usually the wheel has fallen the hides are all overturned 😭

Hi! I have recently been watching your videos to learn more about my hamster and how to give her the correct care that penny needs(my hamster). Since then, I went from a critter trail to a 3 floor cage. And on the bottom floor, it has over 750 sq inches, the second has over 450, and the top has over 340 sq in. I have also given my hamster over the BARE minimum of 6in of bedding. I just recently have also started to scatter feed her. I sadly still have a 6.5 in wheel, but I am buying a new wheel tonight for her! You have inspired me to do more for my hamster. Thank you for teaching me and a ton more other people on how to correctly care for a hamster. Thank you.

My dwarf got his leg caught in the wood bridge we got him out, Worst day ever thought he would die! Also thank you for helping me take better care of my hamsters bc I literally had my Syrian in a critter tail now he’s in a 59 gallon tank so thank you! Also my dwarf passed away to natural causes.

I am planning on getting a syrian hamster soon. I used to have a dwarf hamster or two (at different times) when I was a kid, and I am very happy that I did some more educated research on hamsters. I got a hamster and didn’t do enough research. After a month or so I found this channel, Victoria has taught so many people how to care for their pets! I threw away her small cage and made her a bin, got her an 11 inch wheel and gave her 10 inches of bedding and a sand bath! And proper hamster feed, not the pet shop mix. She died unexpectedly on Monday with no signs of illness though :( only had her for 5 months but at least in her last 4 I did my best to make her happy. She had so many toys and I got her out to play every night. She made such big burrow! She was called Berry. I hope you have as much fun with your new hamster as I did with my Berry! Cherish every minute and take way too many photos of them x

Wow XX I just saw the unboxing for this stuff. I can't thank you enough for going through all the products and the hamster habitat set up. Hamsters have such different personalities. Even stuff like water bottle or water bowl can depend on the hamster. I have one that elegantly sips at theirs and another that tramples through theirs knocking it over, and they need a bottle... Maybe a bumpy heavier dish might be the answer!

I just upgraded my hamster from a 40 gallon (450 sq in) to a 75 gallon (864 sq in) and I'm so happy cause she seems happy running all around her enclosure =)
That's great! Though are you sure you measured the 75 gallon correctly? with that floorspace that would mean it's bigger than a normal 100 gallon tank which wouldn't make much sense.

Never been this excited for a video! I just got my second hamster today, his name is Goomba and he’s my first Robo. I already have a Syrian named Chewie. This is always the hardest part, leaving him alone for the next few days so he’s not stressed. 😩 Love the set up btw
