Thanks for the video Tom. Great view. We stayed at Grand Floridian twice, both times club level, which was great. Well worth it to be in the middle of the magic. Thanks to the great cast members, they are the magic!

That couch/bed would be PERFECT for my young adult with cerebral palsy. Doesn't look as high as the beds and plenty of room for his walker so he can get right from the "bed" to his walker. He needs his walker or he has to crawl. I love going to the parks, but as I get older, that would be a perfect place to sit and read a book.

Don't get me wrong the room is gorgeous but I miss the Alice and Wonderland feel. It seems it wants to be elegant which is good but I have to agree it doesn't seem very Disney. We were so lucky we stayed there probably 4 times but that is when they offered the airline discount and it made it affordable (and boy do I miss that discount!!). Thanks for the video

By any chance do you remember room number for this specific room. This one a great view

The room that you were in the other day Tom looks really fancy!

All of these "room tour' vids. Ultimately end up with "yup, it's a standard hotel room'. Sometimes with better linens and soaps. I have in the past stayed at the Poly...and other high end places. Is it really worth the extra 500 dollars they're charging now. I know "Location' etc. Seriously, they've out priced themselves for the price/benefit for me and most people. Which I guess is the point. Even at Concerage level (at Contemporary in the early 2000's) the extra cost wasn't really worth the tea sandwiches and free beer at the lounge.

Personally unless you’re spending a ton of time in the hotel, I don’t think it is. The perk of staying on property is to be close to the parks and book stuff earlier. For my money I’d stay somewhere like Caribbean Beach Resort, mid-level, you have access to the skyliner to Epcot and Hollywood Studios (10-12min ride)

I stayed there, in that building, in 2017, 18 and 19. Two balconies, facing the park, and it was a little over $400 a night with a discount. Given the absolute beauty of the hotel, the immaculate and beautiful grounds, just the feel of the place, it was worth what we paid. No question. The Floridian is not "just a hotel". Neither is the Wilderness Lodge. It has a definite feel to it. It's not at all like being at a hotel. In 2021 a lot of what made the experience may have been jettisoned by the bean counters (like the band), but it WAS worth what we paid.

Just wanted to throw this out there. The Grand Floridian seems to get this bad reputation sometimes as a to pricey, stuffy, snoby place to stay at. I’ve been blessed to vacation at WDW since I was a child and stayed at countless resorts from All Star-GF, the grand Floridian in my opinion is still a Disney resort. IT’s not snoby or stuffy to me. I would be more than happy to have my kids stay there and walk around. Everyone is very friendly. Have we checked lately the prices of the rooms in the main building at the contemporary or any of the rooms at the Polynesian? They are like way more. The Polynesian never gets talked about how pricey it is when every room is as expensive if not more expensive than GF.

Hey again, DVC member and I just finished a week stay at the DVC villas there. I will say that I was very underwhelmed; it seemed that there were several design ideas that occurred at different periods that were not cohesive with the overall theme or time period of the resort. My kitchen table had seen better days years ago, I kept feeling the need to call up for pledge so I just kept the lights off mostly over it, or covered it with plates when I cooked. My dishwasher was basically in ground; and one had to be careful opening it because it would roll right on across the floor. I was surprised to see particle board used in the kitchens lining the floor under the cabinets that had been water damaged and then painted over. The result was puffy and white and unsightly. There was also some crystallized matter on the countertop in the corner of my kitchen. I don’t know what it was but it aggravated my OCD in the most unnatural way. The highlight of my 2 bedroom villa was the side wings and bathrooms. I don’t know if this design concept was before the kitchen but I was glad to retreat back to the side wings and shut the door. I have been a DVC member for 20 years now, and my family and I are convinced the higher grade materials are used in the demos to attract buyers and then on your actual booking you get, “Gotcha! Sike!” The grounds were beautiful of course and the staff were exceptional. I would stay again only because it was virtually deserted, and honestly life has been this way so long I have already forgotten that in normal times it would never be this way.

@@jonnieinbangkok Gosh you’ve got to be right! It’s just that when in the early 2000’s, the upkeep and detail was of a higher quality. We all know that many companies have since succumbed to the idea that it’s cheaper to keep her, so I don’t see the luxury I used to. Honestly that particle board that was painted over and clearly puffed and damaged was mind blowing, and I found myself questioning it even when I was driving states away after check out. I also noticed that the shower head in one of my bathrooms had been repaired but the time was not taken to smoothly finish the work around the actual part, so what we saw was “this was repaired at some point, and fast. But by someone inexperienced; like your dad when he doesn’t want to be embarrassed by an actual repairman or the sticker shock of good repair work”. I still had a great stay though.

    • @whatthestuffisthis

WL has small rooms. It was built in the 'scale back' days of hotel rooms. The Poly and Contemporary and to a lesser extent the GF have the largest room. In the 70's the 'standard' hotel room was much larger than what we consider a 'king room' or a large hotel room. As for WL...I thought their rooms small comp aired to Contemporary room of the same class.

The view is nice but if you had not told where you were I might never had know it was Disney. Disney needs to put more presence. The presence can be done tastefully but this is so blahhh for Disney. I'm kinda disappointed.
