Someone recently brought Shirley Jackson to my attention--I'd not read her work before. So glad CZcams posted her stories. Brilliantly done, classically creepy.
Thank you for your energy, time, and effort. Not sure you realized that you posted it in 1.25, or 1.50 speed; too fast for appreciation of the prose; if you could offer the range of playback speeds, it would be appreciated.
Nope. That is how it was recorded. I thought about pitching it down, and may do that, but I assume the engineer sped it up to fit it on one side without losing fidelity. But, I assure you, my turntable is calibrated to perfection.
For a short story long ads are obstructive and intrusive. Quite annoying. I’m not of the short attention span generation. The interruptions ruin the writer/ reader- listener experience.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you 😊
"Mighty Mo" does a superb job reading this fine Jackson short story
how many people how many times do you have to hear “ not after labor day” before you get the picture
That was beautifully read do not know the name of the narrator but would like to listen to her read more. Excellent story.
The narrator was Maureen Stapleton. A wonderfull award winning actress and sister to Gene Stapleton ( Edith Bunker). Maureen passed away in 2006.
Did Maureen do any other narrations? She's wonderful!!
@@MELLOWMOSS Maureen wasn’t related to Jean Stapleton. I recently read her autobiography and she cleared that up herself.

Click the 3 vertical dots at the top right. One of the options is for playback speed.
