- Since its launch in 1950, Beetle Bailey has appeared every day in newspapers all over the world. After sixty-five years and 25,089 unique comic strips, new ideas are hard to come by for creator Mort Walker and his three sons, who make up the creative team. Fortunately, like any good military outfit, they have a regimented system and a sense of duty to get the job done. “Reveille - A Family Legacy in Comics” lifts the curtain up on the family business that produces this iconic piece of Americana.
The golden age of comic strips is long over, but it's good to see classics still going on. I enjoyed this immensely.
The artistic quality of the Beetle Bailey comics is truly quite underrated! It's so incredible to watch how much care is put into every single line. Beautiful documentary. RIP Mort Walker.
"The scratch of the pen on the paper....the sound of cartooning to me." Love it! It's very hard (unless you're an artistic genius) to make the kind of round shapes he's talking about, with those scratchy dip-pens. So I was amused to see that the way Greg does it, is to almost constantly rotate the paper.
Every bit helps.
This is the reason why I always love cartoons and comic strips.
This was excellent! Could honestly watch hours of this.
