- Is our motorhome trip to Spain over? We visit the Vet to get the final check up on Dolly's leg, will she give us the answer we want or would she like us to remain close to the surgery?
This trip has unfortunately not gone the way we had hoped so far so we really want some good news, otherwise we are heading home!
We are Corrin and Paul and we travel 9 months of the year in Europe and the UK, with our two brilliant travel hounds, Pippa Poodle and Dolly Doodle

Sorry you feel that way. We actually didn’t think of it as click bait as we ended the previous vlog with the question was the trip over and we wouldn’t be able to get to Spain?
We had 3 options depending on what the vet told us yesterday, and 2 of them were not going to Spain. We got lucky though and here we are.

So excited watching your vlogs. France booked in May just for 8 nights for the first time and Spain over Christmas with the dogs. ❤

Also any hints about cooking and meals in the van would be so appreciated. As I mentioned we are waiting on our van being registered and so we can’t hit the road till mid March. First trip will be local for a few days.
Cooking not a massive strong point in this van, but we wouldn’t be without our omnia oven, electric saucepan, and air fryer.
The last two we can power using our power bank if we are off grid.
In cooking meals anything that can be done in one pan is a favorite (saves on washing up)
Exciting times ahead for you, I bet you can’t wait til mid March… perfect time to start your adventures too!!

We were in Peniscola for 4 nights in November and loved it. You should definately have a look around the castle, as there are excellent views. The old town next to the castle is lovely as well. Behind the castle, there is another bay you can walk around.
I mentioned in the comments a few weeks ago about diesel being €1.27, well to get these low prices, you need to look for the Plenoil garages. I don't know if these garages are in the whole of Spain, but are definately in the south. Happy travels!

Thank you for the tips for the dogs in Spain, re poo bags and disinfectant for the pee. I didn’t know that. We have never travelled to Spain with our dogs so that’s useful. I always have super glue by the way in my dogs first aid kit, I have working dogs and I’m always patching them up. Also purple anti sceptic spray. Great blog, loving following it, and the hints and tips, especially the caterpillar tip! I did know about them, but great for the reminder. I also know someone who lost a dog to sand flies in Spain, so worth making sure the wormers are up to date as well.
Aww Thankyou, yes we have just used superglue to patch up a little area and it’s worked nicely, I think the Spanish rule may spread across to the uk , not a bad idea to be honest 🙂, the girls are up to date, but we have heard about the sandfly 😬.. thanks for commenting, much appreciated x ❤️
Well I've never heard of honey on a wound before, I'll remember that if im ever in a jam 😂😂, dogs doing well and you've made Spain, plus an easy cheap fix on the step, another enjoyable vlog keep them coming 👍

Not sure if your going as far as Gibralter but it's well worth a visit and the aire for it is on a marina. Salamanca and toledo are nice if you like old Spanish architecture and narrow ally ways. But I'm sure you will enjoy where ever you go. Safe journey.

Hi guys so glad you made spain 😊 just to let you know that they usually sell manuka honey in health shops chemists ect its fab .great for healing wounds and great for joint pain too its highly recommended .it sounds as if dollys leg is healing by second granulation that can happen a lot. just may have a slightly thicker scar but should heal good. just takes a little bit longer thats all but she.l get there .Have a great time in spain both but yeh try the manuka honey .its quite expensive but well worth it its got so many uses. Take Care and have lots of fun byeee❤❤

We loved Peniscola. We had a nice meal there in Briza at the back of the castle. Don't forget to give your van a free wash before you leave La Brisa. Poor Dolly, glad she is improving. Pip isn't picking the honey off her wound on a night I hope.

Make sure you have a good quality manuka honey as it comes in different grades. For medical you need a high quality grade.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments , the vet advised honey and fresh air for the wound, we do have antibacterial fluid we were given to keep it clean , the little bit of sea air today worked wonders 🙂 the air fryer is cookworks , from Asda , it was about 24 pounds , it’s really good 😊 so glad you enjoyed the closing pic , Redders looked quite the part 😂❤️

Hi guys you mentioned processional caterpillars, should your dog lick them as ours did immediately wask their mouth out eith plenty of milk and rudh them to the nearest vets if left untreated your pet will suffocate. Regards Garry

Hope Dolly heals ok. I had a Saluki whose stitches came undone under his chest and I used manuka honey which healed it up nicely. I used that all the time now if my dog gets a cut

Hola Corrine Paul Dolly and Pippa. Hurrah after your trying time you have finally joined us in Spain. So happy to see Dolly improving slowly. Peniscola looks lovely. We didn’t make it there. We have been in Cartagena today. A lot of walking from our stopover at the new La Rambla Shopping centre where we are parked for the night. We highly recommend you visit Cartagena it’s lovely. Loads of history. The Roman Amphitheatre was fantastic I loved it. We keep getting our times wrong so everything is closing while we want to eat. We are planning to move down the coast tomorrow to stay near Aguilas . Hoping at some point we will be able to physically meet you and Dolly and Pippa. So glad you got to Spain and Dolly's hopefully on the mend 😊. You did right to warn people about the caterpillars for their animals and it applies to humans as well. If you accidentally stand on one it releases all those extremely allergenic spores that are very unpleasant. I live in France and have seen the reaction they can cause one of my friends eyes and face were so swollen she looked like a fat faced spotty Marilyn Monroe with sunglasses for days and she wasn't the only one, nasty things. They're appearing earlier and earlier in the year, they used to come out at carnival time, in February.

You can buy step replacement kit online. very easily fixed even I could do it. I never use the Motorhome step and always carry a plastic one. Regards Nick
Hi Nick ! Thanks for commenting, I put a 30 mm bolt in and it’s rock solid, I’m going to drill out and replace the other side too , a very worthy upgrade for £5 , don’t think it was originally fit for purpose 👍🙂

Absolutely processionary caterpillars are a nightmare here. Especially now as they start to leave their nests. Not only dangerous to dogs and cats but children too. Another to be careful of is the sandfly. Dogs can get the Leishmaniasis from a bite from an infected sandfly. Easily remedied by either drops on the neck or wearing a special collar. Happy days.

Can I ask a question about your Starlink.. do you have it adapted for 12v? Or do you run an inverter? When you're off grid do you have a feeling for how much battery it sucks?
Good evening ! ❤️ when off grid we run it through the power bank , we haven’t adapted it to run on 12 volts , our smaller 600 watt power bank will run it for about 3 and a half hours , hope that helps 🙂❤️
