- Glass is one of the most unique materials available to man. Fragile and strong at the same time - it combines the most amazing characteristics. Glass production is a very interesting and complex process. Ordinary, tempered and laminated glass - each has its own manufacturing nuances. You can see how glass is made.

Absolute impressive!!! Amazing knowledge here about glass!!! Thanks guys
Our pleasure!
Nice to see such videos still coming out of Moscow.
I worked at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co in Lathrop, CA in the 90s. It was a float line that supplied sheet glass to constuction industry as well as glass to the automotive glass department in the same building. Real cool stuff. At the time, I worked as a lamination process engineer where we made windshields, backlights and sidelights for multiple cars built at NUMMI in Fremont CA.
Interesting. Would like to see how sand is turned into glass.
That would be cool!

This is a interesting video I make bullet proof glass windows for everyone schools, gov, an etc. I will say the suction cups are nice and looks like a lot of people don’t understand why it’s seemed before tempering is easy it’s too fragile and it’s easier to just do it after. Less can go wrong.
thanks for your comment
Always fun to see big sheets and factories like that. I worked as a glazier for 11 years and in our shop we also supplied glass to other shops so he had crates and crates of glass of all types and sizes. Crazy that the big sheets we had (130"x 84") were only sections of sheets from the manufacturing plants.
Also, that last part is bullshit, the small shards left after tempered pops 100% has some sharp edges. Had a 1'8" tempered shower door pop and one of the shards took a chunk out of my forearm.
Very interesting! Easily got our thumbs up. Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it

*_Those are the BIGGEST single glass panes I have ever seen delivered to a vendor...._*
Typically, they are cut at glass plant for customer's specifications. Glass is manufactured in a continuous process. It comes out in a single very long piece. It is cut before it even cools down enough to touch.
Not many companies that use glass panels have a need for that oversized product. This company in video has specific needs and require extra large glass panes. To think that several days prior to glass being cut by customer, it was molten at glass plant.

That single sheet of glass from the tin float tank wouid be called a 'ribbon'. A ribbon of glass was then cut in length as the customer needed.

What’s crazy about the hit at 15:50 is the hammer isn’t even what broke it. Had the piece been secured in a frame or channel it would have survived. The wobble of it being loose is what did it
Next make a video about the bottomless glass transportation trucks
How do we find out how hot the glass is?
We touch it.
How do we find out how sharp the glass is?
We rub our hand against it.

Opaque or translucent?
can anyone tell me what is company name?
I know the glass in a airplane windshield is quite strong and stays cleaner than glass in the home. It still can be broken as it is not bullet proof like some is made for. I would like for automobiles to have glass that doesn't need a windshield wiper to remove water or mud from a puddle. I also wish that the glass companies still bought the glass around homes or autos. I would think its cheaper than making it brand new from sand again.
If you apply Rain-X to a windshield, the water beads off very well, and you don't have to use the windshield wipers as much.
Well, planes go much faster than cars. I'm sure that has something to do with it.
Large ingredient in making glass is cullet.. It is recycled glass.. But not from recycled bottles or jars.. They contain too many impurities

I make bullet resistant glass. What is a break?
If you take tempered glass and sit it on the edge or or tap the corner it will break , as a pinball show I use to go to at least 3 playfield glass will be broken .
No eye pro??? Wow
As a glazer for over 30 years as we use to say that’s the breaks
Which country isn't

Yes, thanks
Follow Through with hit to break it.
today I learned Rupert's law of glass rigidity.
Not cut by diamond cutter but rather tungsten carbide wheel
To break tempered glass hit the side of the corners the edge is the weakest part of the glass
The title mentions production, but you do not start with production.
06-05-2023👍👍
Usually only tempered glass has sanded edges like that. Annealed glass is what most people would consider "regular" glass and is very sharp. Annealed glass will break into large sharp shards whereas tempered glass will break into tiny safe pieces. Also not everywhere uses those suction cups to move glass where I worked we lifted glass by hand like men, it was not uncommon for me to lift a 200 lb piece of glass by myself.
That is pretty heavy but most of the time it's not the weight it's the size of sheet to get a grip.
@@mehmettemel8725 True, a square-shaped piece of quarter-on-quarter glass that weighs 200 lb would be impossible to pick up. Most of our stuff was more rectangular-shaped though so it was skinny enough to hold in the middle even if it was longer. Although some pieces were so large they required two people no matter what
Congratulations so proud of you.
