  • In this video, I'm going to teach you the SSL and TLS handshake in Hindi. The SSL and TLS handshake are important primers for encrypting communications with websites and servers.
    If you're looking to encrypt your online communications, then this video is for you. I'll explain the SSL and TLS handshake in simple terms, and show you how to perform it using the Hindi language. This is the first of a two-part series, so stay tuned for more!

    In this video, I would like to point out 09:44 where you mentioned all three values explicitly. Some narrator misses these small-small things while narration and made generic comment (like three things). For example, in this case as you mentioned three things and their names as well. But others do not mention what three things are. Either they mention somewhere earlier (and you have to rewind video) or later. Then that is hectic to find and co-relate. Very good narration by you 👍👍

    12:43 & 12:53 as mentioned session keys are generated from master key. On 13:07, here it is mentioned that symmetric key is known as session keys. Why so? 🤔🤔

    • @the-confused-engineer
      @the-confused-engineer  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Whenever only a single key is used for encryption and decryption, then it is called symmetric key. Here master secret is also symmetric and session key since it is not in pair, and used standalone, so that is also symmetric. We say asymmetric only when we use 2 different keys to encrypt and decrypt like public private key pair

      Very sorry if I did not make my question much clear. I understand that what you mention in your last reply message. I also understand that from client random, server random and PMK (pre-master key), master secret is generated. From this point symmetric key encryption starts. Master key is generated from above mentioned three values (client random, server random and PMK) but on the basis of what session keys are generated? Can you please help on this question?

      @the-confused-engineer  Před 3 měsíci

      Session keys are generated on the basis of master secret. Now the question is why we need session keys? See, the master secret is called master secret for a reason. If you start using that same master secret for every session then the security would be at risk. So, after calculating master secret, we just keep it aside as a means to create session keys for every session. Those session keys are only specific to a particular session, that means even if someone is able to hack that particular session key, he would only be able to know details of that particular session only, while other sessions between the same peers will be secure, now just think about if we have directly used that master secret instead, then all of sessions between them would be hacked, not just current but also the future sessions as well. I hope now it should be clear to you and all students of TCE community 😜
