International Avis de Réception (AR) in France and Possessions

AR (known in the US as return receipt) is a postal service wherein a signed form or card is returned to sender of a (usually registered) letter, as evidence that it was received. It was relatively well used in France and its colonies, and we will discuss it for the period 1859 to the early 1950s.
