I used to have a dulcimer teacher come to my home...not only have I moved but the covid has made it more difficult for teachers... I’m also do crochet work and have been working very hard at it...so your videos are really helpful while I’m trying to relearn the dulcimer

I like the different strum patterns. Did I miss a learning section between Part one that ends with Part A and Part 2 begins with 'you should know the whole song' without the Part B instruction? I am pretty sure I was able to get it by watching the video - it was just kind of strange.

Question? I have a beautiful I just picked up... but don't you use the very piece at the bottom where it can push down and make the sound change vibrations?

the camera angel was better when it was behind you. Now looking at you, everything is backwards and my brain has trouble with that. Part B was kind just left out. Because its backwards I can't tell where you are playing the C chord. Im figuring it out. Hope the camera gets moved back for the rest of the videos.

Its a McSpadden Dulcimer and thank you! If you are interested I can help in the purchase.
Get a good used US handcrafted one from Ebay or one of the online used instrument sellers. Do not go out and buy a $700 McSpadden. They are not worth it. If you are a beginner do not spend more than $300 on a dulcimer. If you do not like it, you don't want to be stuck with a $700 wall ornament. Also, there is now and influx of dulcimers called Roosebeck from Pakistan and Apple Creek from Romania. They are cheap and I am sure of fairly consistent quality. I just don't like the idea of buying an American style instrument from a foreign country.

What would your recommendation be for a quality dulcimer keeping in mind I'm on a budget?
I would definitely go with McSpadden. If you can’t afford a new one, you can sometimes find them in some of the dulcimer groups, eBay etc. If you need any help please let me know or if you find one I can take a look at it for you even if it’s on eBay or something like that
