So nice to have discovered this and to see John Candy's daughter. Feels like seeing an old lost family member. Especially since I live where John grew up and many people I know met, worked with and knew him, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara and Dan Akroyd.
For the Steve Martin and Martin Short concerts, why didn't they call it 'Steve Martin Short Show'. Seems obvious to me. BTW Seems like Martin Short just gets more handsome year to year.
I had the chance to meet, later interview Martin Short and he was exactly like this..no different. Sharp as a tack, brilliantly funny and the only time he got serious was when I asked about John Candy..you could tell it was still tough for him to talk about John in the past tense. SCTV was the high water mark of TV comedy..and has--and will--never be equalled. And that's no lie I must say...
Martin Short is the kind of guy who could rob you in broad daylight but so charming and funny that you wouldn't care! 😆

I usually try to avoid that kind of thing when it comes to a kid of someone famous. You know, take them at their own. But you can't help but see him when you look at her.

I miss John terribly....such a heart wrenching waste....if only he could have shred a bit of weight and laid of the cigs... :( And just 44-years-old. One of those folks that they say was "too good for this world".
I was raised on/with John's stuff, from SCTV as a kid through his magnum opuses, Uncle Buck & Planes, Trains & Automobiles.
Also really dig his early-mid 80s stuff, like Summer Rental and Brewster's Millions.

Can someone please ask Martin or Steve to bring Jen on for a guest role on Only Murders in the building season 3? She’d be great! Would absolutely be awesome to see Jen on screen.
Both of John’s children, especially his son, look so much like him… I think John would be so happy to hear how they’re doing well.

WOW - this was incredible. As a teen who watched and loved SCTV, and loved John Candy until he was stolen from us, I was blown away by this program. The pictures added tremendously. Very very nicely done.

My late brother and I watched SCTV every week on a local station that carried Canadian comedy like SCTV, Red Green & of course Brits comedy Benny Hill, Faulty Towers, etc…. SCTV was far better of an all around talented comedy show. Even SNL. So many great memories with my brother watching the best cast ever. Thanks for sharing this Candy Couch moment. ❤️🥲

Looks like I got this video in my feed after watching a CBC documentary of John Candy and also the best of Candy on SCTV. I also did see the trailer for I'm A Big Girl Now last month, one of Martin Short's first sitcoms.

Even as a kid watching Martin Short and Dan Akroyd in Coming Up Rosie, I could tell that they were both very talented. I wonder if they even remember that show.
Just a quick comment about Johns graciousness. My teaching assistants husband knew John at Neil McNeil and he ran into him at a downtown Toronto hotel . He took his old high school friend up on the elevator to the floor he was staying on and said ,with all humility, this whole floor is mine not just the room , and she said her husband said John was embarrassed to have such attention payed to him. Thank you.
I met Marty & a few others from the original cast of SCTV in Vancouver when they did an SCTV reunion tour . They took questions from the audience and i said Marty you are my favorite comedian and i just want to shake your hand . From what i remember Joe wasnt there & John was filming Wagons East and couldnt make it . Im curious to know if John was able to make it to any of the SCTV reunion shows or was he absent from the entire tour . It was on or about the same time that he passed . Do you have any footage from any of those reunion events .

I have to say growing up in the 80's I HATED SCTV Just think Saturday morning bowl of fruit loops or popcorn and Kool aid on the floor watching really bad Canadian cartoons with a eye missing because the cartoonist forgot Hercules, Rocket robin hood The friendly giant with a Chicken nailed to the wall (sick shit right?) Then Bang a bunch of TV's thrown off a building ..I did grew into it lol
Some of the funniest stuff Eugene Martin John Steve.....if you watch TV or movies .. They were and are the ones that make you laugh
