I dunno, sure it's a different class but I drive an Astra GTC and I love how pratical the thing is, like the C class coupé
I just view it as a great all rounder
But it needs to have some practicality. The back seats on this thing are pretty terrible, especially compared to the 4 series.
I like this coupe but two things that really bother me are the transmission and the centre console/display combo. Everything else I like a lot
Because its not for practical use its for fun its a sunday car for some

Love these new C-Classes, saw one drive past at night and it looked stunning. Interior lighting is beautiful as well.

You were wrong about the boot, it's equipped with the keyless go package and boot lid functionalities are different, you can open or close the boot by waving your foot under the boot with the key in your pocket, you will know if your Mercedes has this by seeing the automatic buttons on the top of the interior of the boot (this one has it) all you have to do is wave your foot under the boot to open and do it again to close. :)
I think the rear seats are OK for a short ride. The boot too is fine for a weekend for 2. Love the car overall.
Shorter people can easily travel in the back, not just kids. Drove this car in Germany for a week with my parents, and my mother had no trouble in the back seat.

It's Beautiful for sure but the BMW 4's are not fugly anymore. They look pretty nice and they simply are usable for rear passengers so that would be my choice. None of this crappy fake leather stuff too (or paying £1000 more for real leather). Plus as approved used, light years less expensive.

Just got one in white with air susspension and the ride is fantastic. Well worth the extra cost. It gives it a limo feel. A great review Mat.

I just got it yesterday - it's a beautiful, beautiful car - nothing really to complain about. Really good if you're looking for a luxury coupe but it's not the most sporty car in this price range out there - so keep that in mind when considering it. But still ... this is (in my opinion) the best looking coupe you can buy in this class :)

Which trim level? Did you get the air suspension?
I was deciding between the new TT and C Class Coupe for a while so decided to book a test drive for both. Audi got back to me and confirmed everything within 2 hours. Mercedes never rang me back, I even chased them up and they still never rang me back, Booked a second test drive with another dealership and exactly the same happened. Totally ditched the C Class from then on, but loving my new TT!

I can vouch for that, Mercedes UK's customer service has become appalling in recent years, it's disgraceful. Hasn't stopped me from ordering the new C63 coupe but still they need a real lesson in how to treat their customers right
You're right, I've just bought one of these and coming from an Audi it was painful to buy. I still think it blows the A5 new or old out of the water on looks. It's the first affordable Merc that I've actually liked the look of. Hence it's my first Merc.
They’re still shite I just went to look at a C Class coupe and the sales woman left me in the middle of looking at it to go speak with another customer and totally ignored me felt like they thought I couldn’t afford one so I just left, total pricks still like the car but will probably look at one from an independent dealer
Dear Presenter, Please talk about MAINTENANCE COSTS and how they compare to other cars and what people should be prepared to spend. Its such an important factor when buying cars. This would be very informative..

Its a great looking car, the disadvantages I found where: poor sight at the rear, bit light steering, not getting much feedback. You can not rest your elbow at the top of the door, its to high. The boot is quiet narrow. The sound of the 180 is not much but surprisingly fast for a 1600cc up to 60mph. Get the acoustic windows.

Hi Mat! do you prefer this car over the BMW 430i Gran Coupe? BMW exterior is a little more attractive in my opinion but the C300 interior is much nicer.

Are they actually making a new one?! This new C Coupe seems like a successor to the old E, rather than the old C, which was a bit... shit, and not really a serious competitor to the 3 Coupe and A5.

Petrol engines aren't good? Why? both versions especially the 240hp version provides a 0-60 time of less than 6.5 seconds which is fast enough for a 2.0 engine

I been following your reviews and its great, One thing you should talk about is- the quality of the speakers- sound, crisp when at idle and driving. That is one thing drivers use everyday when driving. And compare it with other make/models e.g: lexus v Audi v Bmw v Benz
Also, what it is like driving at night. just something different to other reviewers on You tube.
Agreed, they never talk about the sound system. So important as is often so expensive to retrofit a better system these days. The sound system in the new Audi A3 is probably one of the worst out there IMO.
When this car gets a facelift i hope Mercedes adjust the infotainment screen in the middle. It looks so ugly here, it ruins the otherwise beautiful car. The screen should be more integrated the with the interior.
A beautiful designed coupe and the first thing you do is complain about trunk space and back seat? Learn the USP of the product your reviewing before you bash it for what it is NOT designed to be.

You keep saying command is not as good as the iDrive and I had a new BMW for the weekend and found the iDrive absolutely terrible. NOT intuitive, NOT easy to use. Command is miles ahead of it.

Mercedes put a classic signature on the windows as a clever business tactic so that if a window needs replacing or repairing the signature is a way of encouraging people to use genuine parts.
Lots of "genuine parts" are just genuine fakes, tho.

Great car and great reviewer ! Regarding the reversing camera, I noticed that it pops up when the car stops (like when stopping at a traffic light) without engaging reverse and then it pops back in as soon as the car runs a few metres. Has been told that by friend and then noticed it myself later. Mat could you please enlighten us on this weird feature. Thanks in advance !
The interior and exterior for this car is very good. Unfortunately at the end, I bought BMW 4 series and just got it yesterday. Few things I hate about the c coupe are: back seats are way too small (even small Asians don't feel comfortable just sitting at the back), trunk space is smaller compared to 4 series, entertainment system is much harder to use (UI is a bit confusing), and the screen is better than c sedan but still looks like a cheap iPad.
Things I like about the c coupe is the interior as the material quality is excellent. It feels so much different than the sedan. The exterior is quite eye-catching. I really like the change in comparison to the old c coupe. But overall, BMW 4 series suits my needs and I got a much better deal than c coupe.
The Mercedes touch command is so confusing and dangerous, the Sclass disengaged the airbag after getting into the back and then into the front a t a traffic light and you can't access the digital handbook on it winter while driving but I was a passenger so that's stupid. The airbag should never go off as usually you have to put your metal key into the special compartment and deactivate it but the Mercedes did it itself. We got a 7 series instead the big screens are just a big gimmick and the Audi MMi and I drive are far superior. I wouldn't regret your purchase I would pick that or a Audi other this
2018 car uploaded july 2016?
I love my 2018 C class coupe. One issue I'm having is with Burmester radio. I place it in full surround mode and it won't stay at that setting. It switches the speakers back to front mode. Supposedly Mercedes is to send out a software update.
Because they mostly cut the back end, the rear looks really droopy to me and i expect to see the rest of the C's backside. The A5 and 4 are lower and wider and havent got a cut backside, so i dont get that from them.
how is mercedes reliability these days for the new models?
Reliabilty is very good .mercedes benzes from 1998 to 2008 are shit because of crysler partnership.. they separate from 2007 since then they are back.. :)

the saloon seems to have ambient lighting but the 2018 coupe doesnt have it as standard? is that right
No button at the boot isn't that bad. Like in the previous scirocco. When you go to your boot either way you have your key in your hands or you exit your vehicle where you can also open the boot.
You're right but it's a shame to have to fiddle about trying to find the key. They could've put a button… somewhere.

the only problem with this car for me is the gear shift - ITS NOT THERE!!!! instead they have that god awful infortainment control in the middle! I came from a manual transmission background, i want to rest my hand on the gear shift when im driving
Just buy a rubber dildo and super glue it to the center console. Gives you the same feeling.

I would have a really tough choice between the 4 series at the C43. I think the BMW is more practical and more fun to drive but the Mercedes has a nicer interior overall and is more comfortable.
I think the clincher might be the transmission for me. I live in Canada and the benz only comes in auto and it's not a very good auto. The 4 series is still available in manual and I think that would be much more fun.

Over the last few years, I can count the amount of times I've had adults in the back of my car on one hand so it's nothing I would ever take into consideration. But that's just me, I'm sure there are obviously others with different circumstances.

So I have a 2017 BMW 4 series convertible but I'm having a repair done which will take a week, and my insurance company have given me the equivalent Mercedes C class coupe as my courtesy car, which is obviously great! So I'm testing it out for free and can make informed comparisons. I am starting to know for sure though that my BMW is a little better, more sleek, although this Merc certainly turns heads more!

Okay so I bought a c220d 18 plate and I'm burning roughly around 25mpg on average and best case scenario 29mpg in city on comfort mode, can anyone tell me whether that's how much it's supposed to burn? Btw, I don't blast it. Took it to Mercedes dealership and they could not find any faults with it!
So the first two minutes of this video is explaining how impractical the coupe is compared to the saloon. Informative. I think the 'coupe' title gives that away.

Beautiful drive, supremely comfortable, quiet, loads of extras, I particularly like the keyless go / entry and for a 204 bhp four wheel drive car it’s pretty good on fuel, around the doors it’s averaging about 40 mpg, on a decent run the best I’ve had is 53 mpg.
Plus the Burmester stereo is the best car stereo I’ve ever heard, very happy with the whole car, would buy it again 👍

I want one. At 32 i only get a Class A.. 2016... sadly. Hope in 10 years get a better one.
The rear of that car lets it down, it looks like an old Hyundai coupe, the GTC looks better from the rear and offers a better all rounded package.
I do love the the new design language of the merc front grill. And the front seats and dash ain't half bad.
