I’ve made a lot of memories beating games that didn’t hold my hands when I was younger. It was extremely satisfying breathing a boss or a game that I was stuck on for weeks 🤣
I went back to 360 and ps3. F this. Lol I skipped all of 9th generation. I started buying physical copies of every game. I did pc gaming for a little bit. Then I realized, if I'm not connected to the internet all the time, the license to the game expires. The only way to play the game is to always be online. I'm good. Done with the new wave of gaming and going full retro. The industry can shove it. For games being tough, I loved the challenge. When the pay to play came into the works, that's when I lost interest. They need to stop spending 350 million dollars on creating a game like Spider man 2 and thinking they are going to 10x their investment. Make it cheap and sell high. 😂
Make cheap and sell high makes sense to me 😅 and a lot of people seem to be playing Ps3 and 360. I don’t blame them. This gen doesn’t have much to offer.
@@j0xaxr I’m not mad at it. They believe in their product and set their price. Nintendo games tend to keep their value or significantly skyrocket over time. But never permanently go down in price.
I agree. creativity is the ingredient missing in modern-day gaming. These industries need an 80's, early 2000's and 90's master class in making good games.
I'd say scope-creep is a more major problem in modern-day game development. I have no idea why every single game release has to be a large big budget AAA games that has lots of filler content. When they had to limit the scope of their games (like back then on more limited hardware), that's when the creativity really emerges. Sometimes you need to have restrictions in scope in order to have a better game.
@@anOccasionalGamer Because of this I have been playing retro games for the past few years. Maybe you could point me in the right direction. I'm looking at getting the recently launched original PlayStation (Past 2 or 3 years) with all the majority PlayStation One games loaded on a usb. Tried Amazon but they don't have stock. I almost bought a switch but because they removed some of their online older consoles, I was like Naah I'm not getting one anymore.
I totally agree with your take but a bigger important problem is that budgets to make games keeps growing therefore we as consumers have to wait (first party games as well as 3rd party ges take longer to be published) longer and longer to walk into very buggy games (cyberpunk, battlefield etc). So many people are stuck on graphics nowadays vs quality of the product that comes out causing major problems for us "longtime gamers".
Previous gens were on fire. They were rapid firing game after game. Big release after big release. 3 Uncharted games on the PS3 and the Last of Us, Halo 3, ODST, Reach and 4, Gear 1,2,3 and Judgement on the 360 along with some of the greatest COD games ever made MW2, Black Ops and WAW. And Nintendo with their Zelda's, Pokémons and Mario's such as the N64, which had Smash Bros, Goldeneye, FZero X, Zelda Ocarina and Majora's Mask. On the DS there were a dozen more Pokémon games to play than on the Switch. Just for comparison, 5 Pokémon games on the Switch and around 20 on the DS. And then there is the late retro era, the Dreamcast had 20 games released at launch like Sonic Adventure, Power Stone and Soul Calibur. The Sega Genesis had just as many exclusives ip's as Nintendo, were talking games like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Comix Zone, Shinobi, Phantasy Star, Shining Force, Gunstar Heroes, Castlevania Bloodlines and your typical Sonic games. And 4 years into the last generation you would have had MGSV, AC Unity and Origins, Final Fantasy 15, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian, Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, Star Wars Battle Front, TitanFall, Blood Borne, Nioh, Destiny, Mirors Edge Catalyst, Halo 5 Guardians, Sunset Overdrive, Black Ops 3, Uncharted 4, Order 1886, BattleField 1, Alien Isolation, Batman Arkham Knight, Doom and Wolfenstein New Order. And don't get me started with Rockstar games who use to make multiple mainline GTA games with smaller release windows in between, but also make GTA games for portable consoles like the PSP and the DS along with other ip's like La Noire, Midnight Club, Bully and Max Payne. Companies don't want to take risks any more. It seems like there are fewer and fewer triple a games released with each generation, with no generational leap. And more focus being put into live service games that are being marketed as quadruple A.
I agree with you 110%! I have a PS five and an Xbox series X hell I’m a console collector but lately I find myself playing the classic consoles more like my Panasonic 3do or Sega Saturn and ps1 and so on. hell I think the 360 and ps3 era was great! Hell even ps4. But damn this console generation. Slacks bro. Exactly what you said though 110% you’re right.
Ain’t nothing like retro gaming. The industry has changed and I don’t think we can return to peak gaming. And it sounds like you have an EPIC collection!
Couldn't've said it better myself! Another great video. I HAAAATE not owning something physically. Sony can't burst into my home and take my YuGiOh forbidden memories disc off me when they feel like it, so it's INSANE they can just do that with digital games. Also heck yeah, DVDs! Same deal. Netflix can't kick down my door and take my horror dvds off me!
Appreciate the support yo! Means a lot 👊🏽 and trust me, I’ve been holding off on buying a lot of these games cause they don’t have any physical releases! And lol the rocky collect cost me $7 at Walmart. Amazon had each individual movie to rent for like $3 🤣
I hear you, my friend. I've actually been reconnecting with the nostalgia of older consoles like the original Xbox and PS2, and now I'm also venturing into the realm of PC gaming.
Yeah, I have a bad feeling that next-gen is going fully digital too. When that happens, I'm going to solely be collecting and playing past-gen games and consoles. I loved Alan Wake, but won't even look at Alan Wake II bc it's only available digitally. Video games peaked with the 7th gen
If it is then I might join you. A lot of games miss me when they’re digital only. If it’s something i really really want to play, I’ll get it. But I prefer physical. 7th gen was legendary! And I don’t think it’s possible at this point to recreate peak gaming with the businessmen takeover
As long as we have Nintendo we are fine 🌟😂 I love my switch OLED I'm excited to whatever they bring next, I feel this gen has been stale for both Sony and Microsoft in terms of games coming out
Idk about I think we forget there a ton games that Sony and Nintendo has release that been great. It just we want more. I mean we had resident games, final fantasy games, horizon, spider man 2 and God of War. The issue comes down to the various life service but to say this generation be slate is lie. Sure it's not a variety of games. But we been eating good.
@@Yunothehero Yeah. This year, I had Palworld, LaD 8 and FF7 rebirth. Got Armored Core 6 last year. Looking forward to the Elden Ring DLC and Gundam Breaker 4. Also playing through Hellblade 2. And, hey, I hear Helldivers 2 and Baldurs Gate do pretty well. Not my kind of games but I am not going to bash them. I'll eventually get to that Front Mission 2 remake. I would go as far as to say that while there are indeed some major issues with gaming nowadays (some of which are issues that have been around for decades as far back as the 90's), I think some people need to look around some more. I can avoid Assassin's Creed or CoD or Fortnite or (Insert Sports Game Here) pretty easily.
I think there’s a lot of value to modern gaming today. More access to older titles and double A titles are crushing it, with the occasional triple A hit. Not to mention all the indie options. Theres something for everyone
Big facts man I'm glad someone is on CZcams willing say that the gaming industry is about to crash. They keep chasing these live service games no body is going to continue buying these trash games.
Totally agree with you bro, right now im playing vanilla diablo 3 on my ps3 and having a blast 🙂 just going back to the games that actually reward you for your time. Great video bro, keep em coming 🤜🤛
6:22 this 💯, give me gravity rush, folklore, heavenly sword, puppeteer, just something different to all the movie style games we get from Sony these days, variety is the spice of life.
@@anOccasionalGamer hope you enjoy it dude, it's aged a bit but it's still a fine wine, great story, fun gameplay and a decent length, doesn't overstay it's welcome like modern games that try to milk you dry.
Pc Gamers should only buy their games on the GOG Launcher. Games on GOG are DRM Free and you can play Offline, therefore you own your games. Games are a product, not a Service. PS2 and PS3 Era was peak Gaming in terms of innovation and gameplay variety. Gaming has become a bad service now, instead of a product of art. Art Design, good gameplay and a decent story are more Important than good graphics and Online Multiplayer Microtransaction Server Games, where one day the Server or the Launcher will be shout down and you will lose your license.
That’s sine great advice! However, I’m sure most pc gamers use steam, and epic. I’ll have to look into GOG myself! And buying games now is basically buying a limited time services. And we’ll we’ll never know when our time is up.
I’m good you said something about how everything is a repeat and just buff up graphics I just bought a gameboy sp so I can play the old I use to play as a kid I have the ps5 I don’t really use it but when use my gameboy Sp I’m having fun again
Great video and i'm not so crazy on new games anymore except for Nintendo games. I bought on black friday all the games that looked good to me that came out last year instead of buying it on the release date and be a beta tester for games with glitches.
Liked your video! In my opinion, Homebrew games are a step in the right direction, because they are usually small projects and take fan input to make better, keeps old consoles alive, and typically are complete, ready to play games that don't take much setup to run. Emulation makes old games accessible when big companies don't let us play them. New games with their DLC I agree is the worst. For example, I got Spyro Reignited and Crash Bandicoot Insane Trilogy for Christmas a couple years ago. Happened to have DLC on Spyro that would not let me get to the next levels without paying out of my wallet. Crash Bandicoot required Wi-Fi to play the game, it sucked. The original versions of those games didn't need DLC or wi-fi, even if the graphics were not so great, they were still great games.
Gaming is super sweaty too. Everything is meta and it’s really annoying. I can’t just learn to play a game naturally. You have to play a certain way to have fun or buy stuff to even be on a level playing field If you don’t have the time
I still game on my PS3; Warhawk, Fat Princess, Neptunia mk2. I play my Wii U all the time; Breath of the Wild, Nintendo Land, Xenoblade Chronicles X. 3DS, PS Vita, PS1. Heck, i stil have my Gameboy Color right next to my bed with Pokemon Red in it. You don't always need the newest system to have fun
@@anOccasionalGamer especially since you don't have to pay to play online. No micro transactions, just pure gaming fun. I was surprised to see active players on Fat Princess after I picked the game up a bit ago. Same with Warhawk, thankfully there's a fan server

Picture this "Picture a gaming landscape where innovation meets power, where exclusivity merges seamlessly with third-party support, and where affordability doesn't compromise performance. Nintendo has consistently revolutionized gaming with each iteration of its consoles, and the rumored 'Super Nintendo Switch' or 'Switch 2' seems poised to be no exception. But imagine if Nintendo took it a step further. What if they introduced a companion console, let's call it the 'SuperGamecube' or 'EX-NES (Extreme)', which boasted the power of a PlayStation 5 or even exceeded it by 40%? This isn't just a fantasy; it's a strategic move that could reshape the entire gaming industry. Consider the facts: Nintendo's strength lies not only in its iconic first-party titles but also in its ability to attract third-party developers. The Switch's hybrid nature already caters to both handheld and console gamers, offering unparalleled versatility. Now, imagine pairing that versatility with the raw power of a next-gen console. With a companion console, Nintendo could offer gamers the best of both worlds. Players craving cutting-edge graphics and performance could opt for the 'SuperGamecube' or 'EX-NES', while those valuing portability and Nintendo's signature exclusives could stick with the 'Switch 2'. Such a move wouldn't just benefit Nintendo; it would propel the entire gaming industry forward. Competition breeds innovation, and by pushing the boundaries of what a console can offer, Nintendo would inspire its rivals to do the same. In a world where gaming consoles often prioritize either power or portability, Nintendo has the opportunity to bridge the gap and deliver an all-encompassing experience. It's not just a pipe dream; it's a vision for the future of gaming-one where Nintendo reigns supreme and gamers reap the rewards."
Online for solo games shouldn't exist. ESG / DEI score is killing the industry as well. I buy Dvd and Bluray too. It's annoying when Netflix delete movies and price increase.
I agree with everything you say. But i will comment on what you said about Mario Thousand Year Door. Many people don't have Gamecube so its good when we get remasters of games stuck on old hardware. It lets people like me who never played it or new generations to experience it. But i get your point, you are saying you want new things to play instead of remakes or remasters. But remember there's lots of newer gamers or people who may not have had a Gamecube growing up. Just something to keep in mind. You may have a gamecube but not everyone does. Otherwise great video as always!
Remakes and remasters definitely have their place. And it’s cool that Paper Mario TTYD can now be experienced by a new audience. 😅 but it would be nice to play a new Mario RPG game that isn’t trash or mid lol Hopefully the attention that TTYD is getting will push Nintendo to drop some new heat 🔥
@anOccasionalGamer I agree and I miss the Mario and Luigi series for example. Those were great Rpgs. Since Nintendo recently released the remake Super Mario RPG last year and now Thousand Year Door maybe some new interest in Mario RPGs will inspire Nintendo to make a brand new one on Switch, or on the successor to the Switch. Let's hope so 🙏
Gaming today seems to be going down the route of trading ownership for some short term convenience - hard pass. So many Steller titles from 6th and 7th gen give me a backlog for the rest of my life anyways🤷
My take is that it’s already great, we’re just focusing on the wrong things. I don’t think we should revolve everything around AAAs, because AAs and indies are better in almost every way.
sometimes you have to destroy to build anew, a crash is needed for parasitic investors to exit... Meanwhile, i've been going back, currently stuck playing fifth gen games for some reason.
If I'm being honest I play games as long as they look good and the stories are good I could really care less about gameplay. I don't have APC and I'm not the biggest Nintendo fan the only game I play is Zelda from Nintendo but even the new Zeldas are bad. I play mostly Fromsoftware games with my favorite being Sekiro Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne. I really believe that those games are the perfect combination of everything and are high quality. I loved Neir and Stellar Blade but never played Bayonetta. It is what it is I guess
Young people can buy old consoles and mod them. With access to the entire game library. Retro handhelds like the Nintendo 3ds is a banger, or even a cheap ds with an R4.
@@anOccasionalGamerif it’s a console that they don’t sell games for or manufacture anymore, you have options. Emulation, modding consoles, or buying second hand. None of these methods give the company any money
@@manwithoutmercyI don’t emulate myself (as I don’t have the means due to not having a PC) but I completely agree. Why sit on a pile of IPs (the publisher/manufacturer) if they’re not gonna allow us to buy it? By not allowing some form of sale then it’s a lose-lose situation as they’re not getting the revenue, and we’re not getting the games.
Creativity has disappeared as a priority for a lot of Devs and sometimes it ain't even their fault...I think that's why Indies do so good like Cuphead or Hades. I agree with you on most points but I think what everything needs is balance...a space where games like Cod, Final Fantasy, Sonic, Yakuza, Doom, SMT etc can all coexist but fight for your dollar. Competition! Also again...we vote with our dollar...if you got something like FF14 that's running strong and they keep adding legs to it and the gamers love it...why switch it up or fix what isn't broken? Lastly aha ion know how gamers complain bout games being hard...for certain games ain't that the point? No shame for folks putting games on easy mode to have fun...
I'm replaying infamous second son and it i brought me back to 2015. I think the industry is spiraling out of control. A small studio is going to pop off with an indie game probably in the next couple of years and the AAA's will chase it because that's what all of this is about for everything really; chasing the netflix business model. Problem is, I want to see Dune 2 in IMAX with a popcorn and soda, I want to own the copy for myself so that i don't pay for max in perpituity. And the original streaming content is mid, and when everyone realizes the streaming content is shit, people will start turning away. I paid for the physical copy of overwatch in 2016, i still play and i'll admit i did 4 of the 10 battlepasses, but i'm done doing that.
Indie studios succeed because their focus is to make a great game 😅 profit will come if your intentions are in the right place! And physical media trumps all 👌🏽
I havent bought any AAA games in years (except fromsoft and nintendo). Theres just nothing good on the market. The developers love their games but the big business men behind it destroy everything
You aren’t alone on that! I tough to see devs hard work and efforts get in the hands of big businesses men. And add scheduled video game crunch on top of that 🤦🏽♂️ they’re tuning the industry
I'm glad that i'm starting to see more and more people push back against this subscription/dlc/micro transaction/unfinished games/good video quality but shitty games. Seems like gaming has lost its magic, now it's not about how fun the game is anymore, we got powerful consoles with trash games on them. Most of these games should be free to play by how many micro transactions and how little value is into them.
While I see your point on the foolishness...from a culture standpoint, the train doesn't stop. Most ppl are gone pay, so if I want that extra mission or character you don't have a choice really
I'm primarily a PC gamer, but get more out of playing games from the school of old, like NES, SNES, Genesis, TG16 - that sort of thing. I had the Series X on launch, but returned that ish the second I figured out I had to be tethered to the internet just to change a theme. No thanks. I don't have to be online with my PC to change a wallpaper. Microsoft can burn for all I care. I do have a Switch, though, and absolutely love it. As for PlayStation, they're not the same. I love my PS3, and only own a PS4 for some newer titles for the physical aspect of it, but wouldn't waste a bankrupt homeless man's money on that hunk of plastic. Nintendo, all the way, man.
Maybe it's just me, but if I had to pick a worst Generation, it would be the PS360 era, as that is truly, for me, the time of the least variety of games and the least games I'm interested in. I also do not subscribe purely to "companies are greedy", because there's just no nuance and no real attempt to understand what's going on. Something changes and then "LOL, companies be greedy yeah?" is used as some blanket excuse. I'm not denying it's an issue, I just think it's silly to just stop at that. There are, indeed, issues with both the corporate and consumer side. MTX I am fine with as a concept, my issue are the p2w/f2p economies in games. But as Harada stated when talking about Tekken 8, development and support costs are far greater as people have greater expectations. They *could* spend less on the game, at the cost of long term support and fidelity, but then you'll have plenty of people complaining about that stuff. It's lose/lose. A lot of people like to say graphics aren't important but then say recent consoles have had diminishing returns when it comes to graphics ( Although having consoles be built for SSD use rather than simply be able to use SSDs is, for me, one of the best advancements for consoles in the last 20ish years). As much as I'd like more AA games come out I'm unsure those would work out great most times in this time of games being super mainstream. I mean, I wouldn't mind some more older games get retools and releases, even something like a new-age version of Sega Ages (as far as remakes go). As far as physical goes, I buy both physical and digital, although this is a partially arbitrary decision. "Back in the day games were fully completed when you purchased them" Look, don't say that right after you bring up Street Fighter, of all games. It, admittedly, bugs me when I see people imply that all games in the past were 'complete'. Leaving aside more complicated dev cycles, no, not all games were complete on launch, I can think of some games that were released unfinished and unbeatable, had some sort of major game breaking bug, or had multiple releases (or used the arcade version for actual updates before a home port) as far as retro games go. If anything, you have more large profile games release broken, but releasing broken/abysmal quality games have been a thing since the 80's.
Nintendo's cost in cash and time to develop games is lower than xbox and PS. Nintendo uses the extra time and money saved to lake games fun. Lower powered console was the right choice.
Developers focus on stupid things like quantity over quality, bigger maps, 40 hours for the story even for games that don't need them. That's why games require years and years to be made, and more money than before. They also pay actors just for marketing, they are so pathetic, we don't want an industry like this. I've been playing on pc for the last 3 years and got used to 60 fps and higher details. Today I returned to ps3 to play Demon's Souls... It's so good that I don't care for the 30 fps and the lower resolution, ones you get used to those things It's a great experience and I'm loving the Ps3 more than my pc right now.... Aesthetic, appearence, graphics, longevity, THEY ARE NOT EVERYTHING DEAR DEVELOPERS, WAKE UP!!
Nintendo games almost never have microtransactions in their games. If you don't count the Mario sports games then Nintendo almost never does free content updates, their games are finished when they come out. Only games with realistic graphics nintendo throw it out the window and replace it with amazing art styles. All games play the same play Splatoon and say that again

Woah woah woah, look remasters are great, an over reliance on remasters isn’t. In fact people do want to play Thousand year door again. Remasters allow newer players to have access to games they missed out on or that are waaayy too expensive second hand, nobody wants to buy TTYD second hand, buy a GameCube and an old TV, they just don’t. Nintendo understands the importance and the demand of remasters but they don’t over rely on them to fill their release schedule. PlayStation and Xbox are guilty of releasing one exclusive a year and remastering games the rest of the year but that doesn’t mean you should hate remasters as a whole, I feel that’s extremely misguided and shallow minded.

Those were the days 😪
The last generation didn't even HAVE a new GTA.

Social media has also ruined gaming. You can just look shit up.
I hear you, my friend. I've actually been reconnecting with the nostalgia of older consoles like the original Xbox and PS2, and now I'm also venturing into the realm of PC gaming.
Aayy I love the original Xbox! And there are a ton of great games on ps2 and PC 👊🏽 happy gaming yo!
As long as we have Nintendo we are fine 🌟😂
I love my switch OLED I'm excited to whatever they bring next, I feel this gen has been stale for both Sony and Microsoft in terms of games coming out
🤣 it’s defiantly been stale and uninspired
If only they didn’t go with that subscription service
As for nowadays I play pc with indie games and consoles, Nintendo I went back to ps3/ wii era
Love this video. I’ve been collecting retro games lately.
Thanks for watching! What have you been collecting?! 😅 I need to get back into retro collecting
I think there’s a lot of value to modern gaming today. More access to older titles and double A titles are crushing it, with the occasional triple A hit. Not to mention all the indie options. Theres something for everyone
I miss the days where online gaming on Nintendo and ps3 was free upon making an account.
This is something we're seeing across the world, not just games. For games, stick to indies. There are so many great ones out there!
Big facts man I'm glad someone is on CZcams willing say that the gaming industry is about to crash. They keep chasing these live service games no body is going to continue buying these trash games.

Great video bro
My guyyy 👊🏽 appreciate you bro
Gaming is super sweaty too. Everything is meta and it’s really annoying. I can’t just learn to play a game naturally. You have to play a certain way to have fun or buy stuff to even be on a level playing field If you don’t have the time

“ back in my days, gaming was better”…
Picture this
"Picture a gaming landscape where innovation meets power, where exclusivity merges seamlessly with third-party support, and where affordability doesn't compromise performance.
Lool I definitely feel you in that 😅
My take is that it’s already great, we’re just focusing on the wrong things.
I don’t think we should revolve everything around AAAs, because AAs and indies are better in almost every way.
I respect your take 👌🏽 that’s valid
sometimes you have to destroy to build anew, a crash is needed for parasitic investors to exit... Meanwhile, i've been going back, currently stuck playing fifth gen games for some reason.
That’s true! The industry needs to pivot. And that’s dope. I haven’t played 5th in a good while. I might have to revisit that as well 👊🏽
If I'm being honest I play games as long as they look good and the stories are good I could really care less about gameplay.
Assassin creed shadows would disagree. People still buying those pre-orders. You getting a subscribe dope video

Young people can buy old consoles and mod them. With access to the entire game library. Retro handhelds like the Nintendo 3ds is a banger, or even a cheap ds with an R4.
I personally don’t believe in participating in the practice. But it is an option

I still haven't purchased a PS5, i don't see the need. They burnt me out with the constant nickel and dime practices.

Xbox 360 and PS4 forever 😎
🔥🔥🔥
While I see your point on the foolishness...from a culture standpoint, the train doesn't stop. Most ppl are gone pay, so if I want that extra mission or character you don't have a choice really
This is true 😅
The switch definitely served them well 👌🏽
I've been buying 7th gen consoles lately. I'm genuinely over the modern games. Other than Nintendo and Indies nothing of value is coming out.
I hear you! You speaking big facts!
Too hard? What a baby.
🤣
