So my friends and I have been planning this trip for a year because it's such a complicated process to get reservations. You literally have to call the Havasu phone # 24/7 before you can get through to an actual person, and by then there's no reservation dates of what you'd prefer. So we knew this and expected to just take any available dates, Luckily this year we got an early date for April and we took it!!!!đ
Once we were booked, I started youtubing and searching on how the hikes were like so I can prepare myself but there were no videos to show what you had to go through to get to these beautiful waterfalls. And of course I had to vlog. So here I am, sharing this amazing experience with you all and showing you from the beginning to end of how it was like in order to see these waterfalls.
TIPS:
- DO NOT bring food, because they sell food there, we pretty much made our bags heavy for nothing.
- DO NOT bring lots of clothes. If you're only there for a weekend, just bring a warm pant/swearpant, one bikini, & a jacket.
- Sleeping bag & a small inflatable mat to sleep on
- Bladder pack
- Good hiking shoes. DO NOT wear regular tennis shoes

ricardopr54 thank you! To answer your question about the helicopter reservation I am not sure. You would have to call them. But I would assume youâd have to provide a CC to hold your reservation (same as the campground)
I did this 3 years ago, what a unbelievable experience. Still want to go back, but like you said, I must take the helicopter this time. Great video!

Thank you so very much for this video I kinda live for videos like yours. Was at Southside Grand Canyon a long time ago when I would walk and know that there isn't any type of wheelchair accessible their nor would I want anyone to build something like that to take away from such beauty.

Great video! I'm planning to go there in April and I'm Just curious about the temperature... how cold did it get at night during your stay? Also was the water cold?
Tristin For me it wasn't cold at night. Idk if it was my sleeping bag that kept me warm. But my friends said they were freezing in their tents lol. But I also wore a really warm sweater and sweatpants to sleep

Awesome video but why is reservation required?? Is that only if you decide to camp around there or is reservation required to actually go and visit??
Edgar Alvarez I think reservations are required for capacity purposes. But you need a permit, to enter the actual waterfalls. They had people at each waterfall who checked our wristbands. I've heard of some who doesn't make reservations and they were able to get day permits to hike without camping, but I would recommend staying overnight because the hike is very far

I didnt catch what u were saying but i know that's a Hmong tone. Then i saw my friend's sister Bor, and i realized u really r Hmong. I'll be going in April and I'm wondering, does that food booth come there everyday? And is there a reservation for the helicopter ride back to the parking lot? If not, what's the best time to wake up to go and wait so we won't have to wait all day like you guys did. The reason why i want to fly back is because i will be doing other hikes in Sedona and Grand Canyon so i want to conserve all my strength.
Master Xiong oh yes Iâm Hmong haha. But the food is there daily. And no reservations req for the helicopter ride, but I definitely recommend making reservations because itâs first come first serve. We woke up around 6am got to the visitor center maybe 7:30-8am and we still didnât get to leave until super late

j p I donât remember the exact dates but I think it was between 4/16 - 4/20... I recommend bringing a sleeping bag. It gets really cold in the morning and also at night but the weather is nice during the day

Thanks for such a quick response đ. I have a 7 year old hiker/backpacker and would love to make it down there with him and my hubby. Iâm thinking we should take the helicopter down and hike back up, how was the hike? My son has hiked up to 10 miles in one day without a backpack and only 5 with a backpack. Do you recommend this hike for a 7 year old?
I also loved that you said the hike down to the falls were scary and you were shaking. That tells me allot..đŹ and it gives me a feeling that I need to workout a lot before I go...
Mamma 411 Yes I definitely recommend taking the helicopter to and back from the campground with your 7 year old. But Iâm not sure about taking him on the further waterfall hikes. Thereâs a lot of steep/slippery climbing. But the first waterfall closest to the campground, that one is just a straight walk and itâs close by so you guys will definitely like it and itâs beautiful

About how much would this entire trip cost? it's on my az bucketlist, being being a college kid the cheaper the better lol
alexcasillas72 I don't remember exactly how much the reservation was... It might've been somewhere around $125 a person, and the helicopter is $85 each way. And food if you eat there at the campsite, depends on whah you buy So that's not too back lol
do you need reservations just to hike there? i wasn't planning on staying overnight, but it seems like thats what is recommended
Khu Nguyen Not really but it is recommended, because you have to get a permit to enter. And the hike to get to the office for the permit is about a 3-4 hr hike. So if you don't reserve and they're not allowing visitors without reservations you'd have to hike back for nothing...

Khu Nguyen Np! Yeah getting permits is tough but don't give up! If you can't get reservations this year call the 1st of February next year and call in the early morning. But no, everyone who arrived when we did, all had reservations. But there was one guy who the workers/security were looking for because he was there without a bracelet. So I don't know if he tried to go and couldn't get a permit so just decided to stay but he was running and hiding from them lol

Noel Reyes for the campgrounds/hiking, yes you have to reserve in advance since everyone gets wristbands in order to stay there. But for the helicopter ride you can either reserve in advance to avoid waiting in long lines or do the first come first serve basis

How long was the wait for the helicopter? I'll be going in September and planning on taking it one way :)
marisa aguilar the wait took us all day. We hiked around 6 or 7am, got to the village around 8am and didn't fly it until after 3pm. I don't recommend taking the helicopter unless you made reservations in advance because you'll wait all day.

GTV you have to make reservations at the lodge and the campgrounds. We selected the camp grounds because it's way closer to the waterfalls. But yes once you get to the campgrounds, you can set up your tents anywhere just not exactly right by the waterfall. They're all walking distance from the campgrounds depending on which waterfalls you see

when did you go and how far in advance did you have to get the permit?
dung phan we went in April. Doesnât really matter how far in advance you get the permit, you just have to get through to their phone lines to reserve. We called in Feb, and they were already book until April so we just took any available dates they had
If you was to do it again. would you still pack all 3 falls into one weekend? or say.... 1 fall per day?
dung phan 1 fall per day. And I would recommend that to anyone else who wants to go lol

Janeth Orozco We didnât make reservations for the helicopter ride back so we were the last few to ride and it was a waste of a full day waiting... itâs $80 ride each way, not sure about max capacity on the ride but for our group it was split into 5 and then 4 people

Tell me please if you booked once on the spot without being or if you succeeded by phone? because we have been trying for months without success and we have to go in June. In addition, their new website, which can be booked from the 1st of February, was already full on the 1st of February until December. Which is technically impossible in a few hours ...

alain maquigneau I booked by phone. It took us months to get through to speaking with an actual person the first year that we tried booking reservations but they were booked for the year already. This time on this trip we got lucky and they had only one available date so we just took it. But no, I havenât heard of anyone getting a reservation upon arrival. I honestly donât recommend it either... the hike from the parking lot to the check in location is about a 6 hr hike so itâll be a pain to hike 6 hrs just to hear that youâre not able to get into the waterfalls...
What number did you call and when. I tried calling last year for two months straight and never got through.
Bob we had that same problem last year as well too. This is one of the 5 phone #'s that we called (928) 448-2121 as for the other four numbers I'm not sure because we pretty much found them all on Google. And one of my friends was the one that got through so I'm not sure which phone number she got through to
