    Brian, I'm so glad I found your video. I got a 2000 BMW X5 with a 4.4. L engine. My power steering pump went out on me, got the old one out now I forgot how the two belts loop. Thanks to your video I can definitely try to get this together, I hope LOL.

    Thanks for the video. Could these cars be any more of a confused mess? There's no reason why they couldn't have run just one belt with one tensioner. Somebody must be getting kickbacks for increasing the parts count to their designs.

      Cam23 Yes there’s two belts. The main belt and the AC belt. It’s a good question not stupid.

      @@alfa_romeo55yush82 no it stays hard to turn clockwise
      It has arrows going that direction though... I'm very frustrated I just put the new alternator and put new ac belt and drive belt I followed the directions cause it had a squeak noise after I finished so I looked up m62 belt and saw this video on how to tighten the belt and i thought it worked out but when i turned my wheels it started to chirp and squeak again and the stupid red battery indicator turned on

      @@alfa_romeo55yush82 idk if the new alternator messed up idk I'm so mad I have no clue why or maybe the tension is causing the alternatotor to slip and not charge the battery but it's brand spanking new

    My belt already broke so the car won't move. How can I install the new belt without raising my X5? Is it really difficult?

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 6 lety

      Cho Murphy you’re probably gonna have to use a floor jack and jackstands and Jack the front of the vehicle up.

    • @2GoodLookin
      @2GoodLookin Před 6 lety

      I have a jack stand but there is no place to put it. I used the jack from the car and put it in the square hole to raise it but there was no metal surface to put the stand under?

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 6 lety

      Cho Murphy if you can get the under shield off there is a spot on the sub frame where you can jack it up from

    • @2GoodLookin
      @2GoodLookin Před 6 lety

      That's going to be a pain as well since it's so hard for me to get under there. where did you get the belt from? I'm thinking of autohousAZ but they charge for shipping on order under $49.
