DIY How to Fold 3D Modular Origami Bird - Step-by-Step Tutorial

- In this tutorial, I'll show you how to fold a Origami Bird with 3D modular units. I love this form of origami, but it is very time consuming to make 428 modular 3D triangle units!

Units: 428
Dimensions: 3" W x 4" H (body only), 6.75" W x 4.5" H (body + wings & hair)
My first, original, 3D modular origami design, inspired by the Twitter bird. :-) This origami bird project requires a ton of love & patience. If you don't love paper folding, you will probably struggle to finish this. Just a warning! ;-)
TIP: Instead of card stock, you can use felt for the wings, but I chose paper because I wanted to keep the materials consistent.

Thank you for your sweet comment! I used Elmer's Paper Craft Glue to glue the pieces together. Then I used a glue gun to glue the eyes & wings to the body. Hope you have fun making it! Let me know how it turns out. :-)

you said that sheef of paper is 4x7 cm ? so how to part A4 page? 16 pieces? because when you do it with 16 pieces 1 piece turned to 5x7 not 4x7...

how do you come up with your designs? Is there a software that you use? I want to make my own design up but can't come up with finding a program to use to make my own, any suggestions?
Hi Sabrina, I just eyeball it and make things up as I go. Don’t know of any program, sorry! I think some people design with Illustrator though.

Where can I get the paper. I can only find assorted packs of colors????
Hi Lois, I bought these papers from Hong Kong and they were cut to size already. Some people also choose to cut their own paper, but it takes a really long time. You can also find them online (i.e. eBay), but they cost quite a bit. I will be doing more giveaways at some point and maybe you can win some for free too? :-)

I use 4" by 6" index cards. It just made a larger owl. Amazing tutorial
