- When you read Astrological books published in India you will across this term affliction in many places in the book. Beginners in Astrology keep asking me what is the meaning of affliction. When do we say a house is afflicted? Are there many types of affliction. There is the weakly afflicted houses to moderately afflicted houses in the horoscope. How to find out the most afflicted house in your horoscope? In this short video I have explained how to find out which house is the most afflicted house in any horoscope.

When talking about Children, one must take Jupiter into serious consideration as it is the Karaka of Children..So, it would be the combination of the Bhava(5th house), Adhipathyathipathi(5th house lord) as well as the Karaka(Jupiter)...

I have one doubt, in this case study where sun is debilitated , if venus is exalted will it creat neech Bhang and will this neech bhang give positive effect for child. Second doubt is if venus is exalted but in 6/8/12 will it still be a neech bhang?

Please confirm my understanding: Apart from Lagna chart, Moon Chart is also important. If fifth house is well aspected and forms good yogas in the Moon Chart then some of the malefic impact is siphoned off. Besides, if a malefic planet, say Saturn, is in Fifth house in Lagna chart but it becomes exalted in the Navamsa chart then again we can say that Saturn will grant good child instead of giving negative results.

Sir, for predicting the result of a house should we not also consider the situation of the house lord & karaka of the related matter in both rashi & divisional charts .

I'm learning a lot through your videos, Sir. Once again thanks for giving us a nice video. This example of severe affliction is also very apt. Sun bracketed by mars and Saturn is a nice example. Sun+ Saturn conjunction should itself create troubles between a father and his son. Saturn + mars combination is also not considered great. Lord of 5 (Sun) in conjunction with lord of 8 (mars) is also bad for children. Also let us imagine Sun is also bringing mercury closely with it in libra. then it makes, 5th lord in 7 with lord of 3rd and 6th combined with lord of 8th. Romba kashtam sir. however, we combine and play, this is an example for a serious severe affliction. With all these happening, there is a ketu in 5. However one sees, this spirals down to a conclusion that it is bad for the children. That is why I loved this example from you, sir. It is a meticulously chosen example.

Lord of 5th house Sun is although debilitated.. Gives rise to a Neecha Banga Raja Yogam.. As it sits along with Uchcha Saturn.
So does the Sun over power its Tenant Ketu and Give Good Results? Or should we just consider it as Debilitated graham?

1 When Rahu in Leo, in 6th, from Pisces lagna and Jupiter aspecting from Sagittarius, the 10th, is it good placement.
2 Now running Rahu dasa as 6th Maha dasa and Venus bhukthi. Venus and Sun are in 4th from lagna and in 11th from Rahu.

Thank you for the video. There are a couple of questions... First, in which book(s) can we find reliable information like 'Ketu hurts the 5th house more than, say, Shani'? And information like '5th lord in 7th house increases putra dosha' (something that some people would have thought was a good thing because it's something between kendra and trikona lords). When you explained about the house lord being between malefics, do you mean functional malefics or 'absolute' malefics? To make inference we need 2 things: 'axioms' and rules of inference. You explained the second, but I feel I am missing the first.
These are not direct statements. These are inferred from years of experience. So you may not find a text book saying everything that comes our of experience and inferencing method.
EKDK sir, I have a question here. Your statement at 4:14 (Sun in 9th house does not affect 9th house). According to Karako Bhavo Nashto, the significator destroys the house, here sun the signifies father and 9th house is father and will this not affect father in some way? Please explain sir.
Case study bolsters the concept. An exact astrological meaning, along with examples of “afflicted” would have been an icing on the cake. But never mind, that could be a home work for the reader!

Thanks for this video. it has given some clue on how to assess the extent of affliction. You have said that you should know which planet hurts a house the most. You gave an example of 5th House. It will be helpful if you do a video on the planet that affects the most for each house. I did not understand whay you meant by closer to the mid point of 2 bad houses.
Each house (each bhava ) has a mid point. The mid point is the same as the Lagna degree in equal house system of doing the Bhava Chalit chart. Please watch my videos on Bhava Chalit.
You have to choose a topic. Then find out all the rules relating to that topic and then find how rules point to the PLUS of that house and MINUS of that house. This is the correct procedure. The video will be extremely long. So let me break it up into small parts. When I find the time I will do the videos you suggest.

Sir what happens when the tenant as well as the planet sitting there are debilitated ? Eg: Saturn in Aries in10th house while Mars in cancer . Both of their degrees are just 2.2 and2.4. Does Jupiter's9th aspect with good degree 17.9 can help the situation.

Dear Dhilip Sir, Is this to be seen form the NBC chart. If yes, does exaltation or house exchange have any effects. In one case for Gemini Asc, Saturn occupies 5th house (Exalted), Lord of 5th house. Ketu is in Scorpio (6th as per Rashi, 5th as per NBC) Venus goes in Capricorn (8th in Rashi, 7th in NBC) and distance between Sat and Ket is 4 deg. Asc deg is ~16. Jupiter is n 7th house and Mars is in 8th (both as per Rashi and NBC)
