For many years it was like that for me. I would go a year or two without doing anything and then fall back into and it cycled like the for many years. Since starting the channel it has snowballed a lot though! I think I am in it 110% at this point LOL!!!

It was a long time coming! I have always been drawn more to the buggies but enjoy almost all of them, except planes, I cannot figure them out! LOL! I need to get out and mow down the track tomorrow so it is drivable, the weeds have taken over. I don't understand how in the dry heat of summer in hardpacked ground in full sun they grow like I am gardening them!

I am glad you enjoyed it! A modern era clod truck would be super cool. Modernized the chassis and design but keep it in the classic Tamiya way of doing things and I think they would have a hit! Thanks Brent! I know RadioLink and FlySky are both popular option. I have used one or two in the past and they seemed like good radios. I am in way too deep with Spektrum at this point LOL!

I am glad you enjoyed it! I like doing these but they do run kind of long so I only do them every couple months! I enjoy hearing the interesting and sometimes funny questions that come in for me to answer! My pleasure Jeremy and thanks for contributing to the questions! If on-road was more convenient then I would probably get one as it would be a perfect little driveway racer. I only have my basement and garage to drive in here and it is like driving on ice in either one and very small so not a ton of fun. They look cool but between no interest in racing anymore and lack of running surface here it is not one I am likely to get. Take care and have a great weekend!

Great video Addam. Tamiya's still my favorite manufactor. Mostly because you get the cars as kits. Not nice to here that about Shapeways. But the printers getting cheaper and many modelers now only need the files for their parts. Ampro's done a lot of great stuff and helped me a lot with the Blackfoot. Hope you'll get your LB parts. The Super Blakfoot would be a great ReRe. Best ways to spend the million. I completely agree. Great tip for the tire painting. But I still not brave enought for that job😂. A new Mega Monster Truck for a reasonable price would be cool.
My 80’s wrestler would definitely be Hulk Hogan, but only because I met and hung out with him in Florida, even got to jam within, at an open jam that was hosted by a mutual friend. But I love all that era of WWF
That is cool! My mom hated when I watched it and I am sure it is just like me know with the modern stuff, it just seems like nonsense but as a kid it was a blast to watch! I loved seeing the Ultimate Warrior "recharge" while shaking the top rope and go nuts! So many great characters from back then!
Great video buddy! I must have watched it 3 or 4 times now.... well, the first hour or so at least! We've had some really sticky humid nights over here over the last few weeks, so hot it's been very hard sleeping!! So I've taken you up to bed with me while I lie there trying to nod off, it's been great listening.... only problem is I've missed the last 20 minutes each time as I have finally dozed off! 😴 I don't mean that in a negative way, far from it Infact..... It's helped pass those early hours and helped me relaxing, very therapeutic! I've dropped off to sleep and had some insane rc car Dreams as a result! Guna now zip forward to finally get to hear the last section! 😂 👍 👍 👍

Hiya Addam. Took a couple of sessions but finished your feature length answers session. Sorry I did mean to reply to your request for questions but forgot although you seemed to have plenty to be getting on with. These are always good to leave on while I get on with some RC mending. During this I sorted out my TT-02 rally car with all new suspension and steering and got a few other tasks done. Good stuff mate and keep up the good work 😁👍👍

I went to 3 hobby shops today in Tokyo, and so far no Ultima rims and tyres, though I have a lead and will let you know. I picked up a Candy Green Grasshopper today it was 65AUD, and there so many cheap hop ups tax free woo ho.
Hi Nick here from UK great advice I bought a Tamiya M08 we like mtc racing here from the m chassis class, the kit wasn't cheap and we end up reducing slop in wishbones ans steering with shims to lose play it's relatively cheap for 3x5 shims but it is time consuming obviously do your steps first, and I think take your time in the build my M08r was different to my clubmates cars. Great channel great advice
Shimming can really help out with the slop and wiggle in a lot of the on-road kits. I went through my TT02 and shimmed up everything when doing the speed run challenge last year It really did make it drive a ton better! I found the metal pivot balls make a world of different as also! I am glad you are enjoying the channel and the video!

Since I don't have any connection to it or big desire to have one it is a nice to have for me. I totally understand the desire for one for sure, we all have our holy grail kits! Great answer to the questions and I always learn something. I think the idea of you and other CZcamsrs from all over talking about r/c would be very interesting. Setting up an agenda would be one of the hard parts. Another idea would be to attend a crawling event and filming it. I've seen it done before and the people attending these things are very nice and people laugh and have a good time.

@@AddamsPlayground I understand about large groups and being needed at home. As far as groups go, I felt that way about the first regional Tamiya TCS raceI attended. It was fun and I made new friends. My driving sucked but I learned a lot. I wasn't suggesting a very large event like an Axial Fest, just a local crawling indoor or outdoor place. After hearing you talk about Buyee I went to the website. That can be addictive and if anyone asks I'll blame you, just kidding. One thing I haven't figured out is how to estimate shipping. If I am going to buy a kit how do I estimate weight and dimensions?
@@michaeldorich4485 I am still terrible at estimating shipping on there. I know the first big box I bought was $150 and then the last two were $200 for shipping but that was some of the faster shipping they offer. I have not bought a single item and shipped it like that but I would estimate the shipping on a single kit to be roughly $40-50. It is not cheap and consolidation of multiple kits usually works out better. There are slower methods of shipping available so it may be cheaper but I could not tell you how to go about estimating it.
@@AddamsPlayground Thanks for the advice. When I have purchased things from Japan on Ebay I am almost always shocked by the speed of the shipping. Some the best prices for Tamiya kits are Tammiya USA sales.

@@AddamsPlayground yeah a banked corner would mean you could really go at it full throttle and let physics do their thing and then have a flat corner to add to thr technical aspect . be interesting whatever you do 👍

MTV lol hearing that again after all these years takes me back Addam! We didn't have MTV in my house but my best mate did we spent hours rocking to it! He had his TV joined up to a crappy Amstrad hifi system! We thought it sounded amazing back then but by today's standards it was absolutely bloody terrible! Iol epic times though! I love oil shocks but for fun its still tough to beat a stock Lunchbox on its friction shocks or an FAV or Brat! Its definitely an old school thing l think it just takes it right back to basics like we first enjoyed as kids! But then again some are absolutely s..t with friction shocks too true mate! I was the same, no cable at our house but I spent the summer break at my aunts house with my cousins (mom and dad were sure I would burn our house down if left here all day by myself, they were probably right!) and they had cable so I soaked up all the MTV I could while there! You bring up another one that is more fun with the friction shocks, the Lunchie and the Mad Bull are perfect the way they are right out of the box. I have oil shocks on my main runner and it does take a little charm out of them without the bouncy, jarring ride! In general I prefer the oil dampers but in a few it is best to leave them alone and let the springs do their thing! I am glad you enjoyed the answers video and I always love hearing from you James! Thanks for your thoughts on the cooking Ribs n things👍, funny you mentioned the quality variation, we got some back Ribs from our supermarket recently thinking it's got plenty of meat and we'll get a few meals from it only to unwrap it to find bones with the membrane one side and no meat on the other, we returned them and the lady was shocked and refunded us. We're really struggling to get anything that we can cook. The propane idea sounds great, may be we can convert ours. I think the cow our ribs were from came from the old age retirement farm too🤣. Ribs have always been tricky and I prefer doing things like brisket, turkey breast, chickens and stuff like that. A lot easier and you mainly just have to wait and monitor temps! All this talk about smoking meat and I am wanting to do some now! I may have to bug my neighbor with a brisket soon! LOL! On some kits it is very easy and helpful. There are some that are so complex it is better to cut them out exactly so everything lines up properly. If they were done on automated machines there may be alignment issues on some with interconnected ones. I do like it when I pull the decal sheet out and it is precut, kind of a relief!
@@AddamsPlayground I understand what you’re saying but cutting decals and painting are not something I am good at loo. Also, they also need to ditch the bushings and start selling kits with full bearing kits.
@@brendanmcg4358 I am convinced they either have an entire warehouse of those bushings they have been trying to get rid of for decades or they have have a contract with the worst bearing distributor in the world! When they add bearings to something the price goes up by $40 or more automatically! It is a pain but I buy mine in bulk for the 1150, 1050 and 850 bearings so I always have a pile of them sitting here! I agree though, it would cost them maybe $5 a kit to supply bearings in them but they refuse to change for some reason.
Your right someone needs to take control over re-re Kyosho some people's favourite went nuts and the Tamiya versions of an Avante/Egress is bordering on crazy their talking of a Tamiya 959 here touching £ 700 or $ . And those drive shafts fly 10m in the air with a techigold motor searching for driveshafts I've been there once I won't go back. Listen to us the fans nTamiya. Right I'll keep silent now.
LOL! Yeah, I wonder at times what their decision making! But at the same time they have been keeping everyone guessing for decades and it seems to work! LOL! I would love to see them produce parts for the vintage kits but I doubt it will ever happen!
There is no way I am spending $700 for a radio. I don't need all the smart phone type tech in there, I just want my radio to be a radio. I don't need or want one that expensive as it would be the first one to fall off the bench and smash the screen or something. I'll stick with the DX series radios.
@@bradkalman2353 I am sure they will sell to a select crowd but for everyday users I doubt many will spend that much for one. There are getting to be too many other really nice radios out there for way less money.
I think I have close to 75 or 80 bound to the 4 controllers I have here. Once I found the cheap replacement receivers on eBay it was all downhill from there! I have so many now it is hard to think of changing brands! I have only bought the controllers when they were on sale but they are still fairly pricey. The new on they just released is comically expensive. I am sure they will sell some but $700 for one radio is freaking laughable.
Why the hate for Spektrum? They had reliability issues with the very first DSM protocol, but since they switched to DSM2 and now DSMR for surface and DSMX for air applications they run absolutely fine without issues.
@AddamsPlayground I run DX3R and DX3S too. Since they work with the DSM2 protocol no issues whatsoever. The newer stuff with DSMR runs even faster and also absolutely reliable. I also have ton of knockoff Spektrum, OrangeRX and BlueMX receivers that are very cheap and absolutely reliable. No need to upgrade from 2010 Dx3R😅. It's old but still runs flawless
@@AsurasWrath164 Yeah the old DX3r is still rocking and has never skipped a beat! The only one I wish I did not get was the rugged, I am not a fan of the touch scroll on it and much prefer the good old scroll wheel on the others. For what it is it is a great radio but I don't play in the mud and water rarely if ever so the rugged features are kind of lost on me.

That is cool! My mom hated when I watched it and I am sure it is just like me know with the modern stuff, it just seems like nonsense but as a kid it was a blast to watch! I loved seeing the Ultimate Warrior "recharge" while shaking the top rope and go nuts! So many great characters from back then!

Hiya Addam. Took a couple of sessions but finished your feature length answers session. Sorry I did mean to reply to your request for questions but forgot although you seemed to have plenty to be getting on with. These are always good to leave on while I get on with some RC mending. During this I sorted out my TT-02 rally car with all new suspension and steering and got a few other tasks done. Good stuff mate and keep up the good work 😁👍👍

I went to 3 hobby shops today in Tokyo, and so far no Ultima rims and tyres, though I have a lead and will let you know. I picked up a Candy Green Grasshopper today it was 65AUD, and there so many cheap hop ups tax free woo ho.

Hi Nick here from UK great advice I bought a Tamiya M08 we like mtc racing here from the m chassis class, the kit wasn't cheap and we end up reducing slop in wishbones ans steering with shims to lose play it's relatively cheap for 3x5 shims but it is time consuming obviously do your steps first, and I think take your time in the build my M08r was different to my clubmates cars. Great channel great advice
Shimming can really help out with the slop and wiggle in a lot of the on-road kits. I went through my TT02 and shimmed up everything when doing the speed run challenge last year It really did make it drive a ton better! I found the metal pivot balls make a world of different as also! I am glad you are enjoying the channel and the video!

Great answer to the questions and I always learn something. I think the idea of you and other CZcamsrs from all over talking about r/c would be very interesting. Setting up an agenda would be one of the hard parts. Another idea would be to attend a crawling event and filming it. I've seen it done before and the people attending these things are very nice and people laugh and have a good time.

@@AddamsPlayground I understand about large groups and being needed at home. As far as groups go, I felt that way about the first regional Tamiya TCS raceI attended. It was fun and I made new friends. My driving sucked but I learned a lot. I wasn't suggesting a very large event like an Axial Fest, just a local crawling indoor or outdoor place. After hearing you talk about Buyee I went to the website. That can be addictive and if anyone asks I'll blame you, just kidding. One thing I haven't figured out is how to estimate shipping. If I am going to buy a kit how do I estimate weight and dimensions?
@@michaeldorich4485 I am still terrible at estimating shipping on there. I know the first big box I bought was $150 and then the last two were $200 for shipping but that was some of the faster shipping they offer. I have not bought a single item and shipped it like that but I would estimate the shipping on a single kit to be roughly $40-50. It is not cheap and consolidation of multiple kits usually works out better. There are slower methods of shipping available so it may be cheaper but I could not tell you how to go about estimating it.
@@AddamsPlayground Thanks for the advice. When I have purchased things from Japan on Ebay I am almost always shocked by the speed of the shipping. Some the best prices for Tamiya kits are Tammiya USA sales.

MTV lol hearing that again after all these years takes me back Addam! We didn't have MTV in my house but my best mate did we spent hours rocking to it! He had his TV joined up to a crappy Amstrad hifi system! We thought it sounded amazing back then but by today's standards it was absolutely bloody terrible! Iol epic times though!
I love oil shocks but for fun its still tough to beat a stock Lunchbox on its friction shocks or an FAV or Brat!
Its definitely an old school thing l think it just takes it right back to basics like we first enjoyed as kids! But then again some are absolutely s..t with friction shocks too true mate!

I was the same, no cable at our house but I spent the summer break at my aunts house with my cousins (mom and dad were sure I would burn our house down if left here all day by myself, they were probably right!) and they had cable so I soaked up all the MTV I could while there!
You bring up another one that is more fun with the friction shocks, the Lunchie and the Mad Bull are perfect the way they are right out of the box. I have oil shocks on my main runner and it does take a little charm out of them without the bouncy, jarring ride! In general I prefer the oil dampers but in a few it is best to leave them alone and let the springs do their thing!

Thanks for your thoughts on the cooking Ribs n things👍, funny you mentioned the quality variation, we got some back Ribs from our supermarket recently thinking it's got plenty of meat and we'll get a few meals from it only to unwrap it to find bones with the membrane one side and no meat on the other, we returned them and the lady was shocked and refunded us. We're really struggling to get anything that we can cook. The propane idea sounds great, may be we can convert ours. I think the cow our ribs were from came from the old age retirement farm too🤣.

Ribs have always been tricky and I prefer doing things like brisket, turkey breast, chickens and stuff like that. A lot easier and you mainly just have to wait and monitor temps! You forgot Die cut decals for Tamiya kits going forward lol. I hate cutting the decals lol.
On some kits it is very easy and helpful. There are some that are so complex it is better to cut them out exactly so everything lines up properly. If they were done on automated machines there may be alignment issues on some with interconnected ones. I do like it when I pull the decal sheet out and it is precut, kind of a relief!
@@AddamsPlayground I understand what you’re saying but cutting decals and painting are not something I am good at loo. Also, they also need to ditch the bushings and start selling kits with full bearing kits.
@@brendanmcg4358 I am convinced they either have an entire warehouse of those bushings they have been trying to get rid of for decades or they have have a contract with the worst bearing distributor in the world! When they add bearings to something the price goes up by $40 or more automatically! It is a pain but I buy mine in bulk for the 1150, 1050 and 850 bearings so I always have a pile of them sitting here! I agree though, it would cost them maybe $5 a kit to supply bearings in them but they refuse to change for some reason.

There is no way I am spending $700 for a radio. I don't need all the smart phone type tech in there, I just want my radio to be a radio. I don't need or want one that expensive as it would be the first one to fall off the bench and smash the screen or something. I'll stick with the DX series radios.

I hate spektrum stuff. Dumbo RC controllers you can bind up to 10 cars to 1 controller, and they have a 500’ range supposedly, and they’re cheap
I think I have close to 75 or 80 bound to the 4 controllers I have here. Once I found the cheap replacement receivers on eBay it was all downhill from there! I have so many now it is hard to think of changing brands! I have only bought the controllers when they were on sale but they are still fairly pricey. The new on they just released is comically expensive. I am sure they will sell some but $700 for one radio is freaking laughable.
Why the hate for Spektrum? They had reliability issues with the very first DSM protocol, but since they switched to DSM2 and now DSMR for surface and DSMX for air applications they run absolutely fine without issues.
@AddamsPlayground I run DX3R and DX3S too. Since they work with the DSM2 protocol no issues whatsoever. The newer stuff with DSMR runs even faster and also absolutely reliable.
I also have ton of knockoff Spektrum, OrangeRX and BlueMX receivers that are very cheap and absolutely reliable.
No need to upgrade from 2010 Dx3R😅. It's old but still runs flawless
@@AsurasWrath164 Yeah the old DX3r is still rocking and has never skipped a beat! The only one I wish I did not get was the rugged, I am not a fan of the touch scroll on it and much prefer the good old scroll wheel on the others. For what it is it is a great radio but I don't play in the mud and water rarely if ever so the rugged features are kind of lost on me.
