    Freewing sells one at 70mm with retracts and a few more scale features for more than twice the price. 6S power.

    Mine was just as fast! 3S 2200 with 50c batteries. I had no trouble getting it moving off of geoTex and will continue to fly it at a neighboring RC field.

    Mine had the same spar mis-alignment issue. I put it through both sides several times before I was able to muscle it in. I also had to ream out the nose-wheel as it wouldn't spin. I put 30% expo on everything with low throws. Still waiting for good weather to maiden.

      Nice! Congrats on the plane! Other than the pain in the neck install, she definitely makes up for it in the air!

    Great video - thanks. I have this model but on 3s and grass, just will not take off! I'll try again this summer but may have to consider removing the wheels and hand launching! Or resort to the 4s route.....

      Thanks! I did not realize till afterwards that this jet was meant for 3S! Every 64 mm jet that I own runs on a 4S. I assumed this one ran on a 4s as well! She flies awesome on a 4S!

    I recently got this model in myself. This is the only review that points out the misaligned body panels. My plane showed up with flaking paint, and didn’t fit together very easy. But for what it is, and the price point its a good little jet.

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před rokem

      Jon, it's a 3s EDF, you'll burn out the motor before too long with a 4s.

    Hey Jon, we noticed your battery is a 4S 2200; how did it fly so well on that? The KV seems a bit high for a 4S battery, is she still flying? I just bought one of these F-35's today and I'm going to put rudder servos on it same as I did on my FreeWing F22. You flew that plane (F22) in an earlier video, was that a 4S battery as well? Thanks Jon...

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před rokem +1

      Yes! I was flying with a 4S 2200 LiPo. I did not realize at the time that it was only meant for 3S. I got feedback from other RC pilots that it was difficult to take off and fly on a 3S. But, with the 4S it was a speed rocket! I probably flew a total of four times. She still works fine, but I’ve been into helicopters lately and haven’t flown that plane since. The Freewing F-22 was also on a 4s.

    • @jimhenriksen498
      @jimhenriksen498 Před rokem

      @@JonsRC The secret Jon is to place a watt meter in the circuit and run the motor up to full throttle, you will learn if you have enough ESC for the 4S power. However, the stock motor may burn out as it is more likely meant to handle the 3S power, not 4S. Still... sometimes motors are just built well enough that they last a very long time. A watt meter Jon, a very wise investment!

    • @thebunkreport
      @thebunkreport Před 2 měsíci

      @@jimhenriksen498 I run the F35 on 4S also. I put in a 50-amp ESC and I have well over 200 flights on it. No motor problems. That is a very good EDF unit.

  • @DakotaStone
    @DakotaStone Před 7 měsíci

    If you had to pick this or the freewing f-22 what would you take?

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  Před 7 měsíci +1

      That is tough! I think I would take this one because it’s a lot more maneuverable than the F22. The F22 is incredibly floaty and forgiving, but for a jet, it’s not what I’m looking for. Although in my opinion I think the F22 is the nicer looking jet, the F35’s power is unmatched when comparing the two.

    • @thebunkreport
      @thebunkreport Před 2 měsíci +1

      The Freewing F22 is a sled. Barely takes off on 3S. Had to go to 4S to get it to fly OK.

  • @jimhenriksen498
    @jimhenriksen498 Před rokem

    Hey Jon, where is your C/G with the 4S battery, it has to be almost 100g heavier than a 3S? You didn't seem to have the battery very far back for being so heavy compared to a 3S!

    • @sethtowne2192
      @sethtowne2192 Před rokem

      That’s what i was wondering to

    • @M4rkmcc21
      @M4rkmcc21 Před rokem

      There's not 100g difference between a 2200 3s and 4s. A 2200 4s weighs about 200g. Its more like 30g difference

    • @jimhenriksen498
      @jimhenriksen498 Před rokem

      @@M4rkmcc21 Hey Jon, different manufacture batteries weigh in at different mass; yet Jon, Mass of a battery "" is fairly constant. You get what you pay for, and/or order from a company; if a battery of a certain size & manufacture weighs more than another manufacture's battery of the same similar rating; , remember Jon, Mass = Mass, unless the chemical makeup (lipo vs life etc.) is different (and in that case you are no longer comparing apples to apples, are you?) So, (for Standarization reasons) let's compare an RC Juice 3S 2200 mah battery @ 185g with a Hobby King Turnigy 4S 2200mah battery @ 250g; what is the difference in weight there Jon? 65g (2.29oz) Jon! Yes, there a difference in weight Jon! Now; I'm just using advertised weights here as example, so your measures may vary Jon. For instance, when I digitally measure my RCJ 3S 2200mah "50C" battery @ 6.4oz actual to my Turnigy 4S 2200mah "60C" battery at 8.4oz actual, I get a real difference of 2oz even, not 2.29oz! My point being Jon, you must measure apples with apples and oranges with oranges to get accurate comparisons! So, my final point here might be to measure the RCJ 3S 2200mah 50C battery to a Turnigy 3S 2200mah 50C (if you can find one!)... the closest I could find was a Turnigy 60C @ 193g (6.81oz) Jon; the bottom-line question being what Jon? Which battery will last longer and why? That will be the question here, yes? Because lipo material batteries will be lipo material batteries no matter who sells them! Now, the 60C vs the 50C make a difference Jon, but a 10C difference if fairly close, yet which battery will (two factors) weigh more and which battery will (two factors) last longer when run on the same system? That is the question Jon! You have to make your own measurements with your own batteries and scale Jon! Good luck to you Sir...
      Oh BTW, I ran a Turnigy 2200mah Heavy Duty 60C battery on both a F.W. 2840-2850kz motor and a H.K. 2840-3150kz motor Jon; (both on the same 40A ESC, which system do you think ran longer and put out more watts (power) Jon? The 2850kz motor easily ran (at half throttle) for 4.5 minutes and put out 1330 watts power while the 3150kz motor ran for 3.0 minutes and put out 650 watts of power; my point being what Jon? ! Your end of the lesson, ok Jon! Enjoy!!! ;-)
      Jim

    • @jimhenriksen498
      @jimhenriksen498 Před rokem

      p.s. Jon; 65g (2.29oz) is a big difference when comparing two batteries weighing only 6.4oz and 8.4oz Jon! That's 35% of one battery and 27% of the other battery! That's a chunk of weight!
