This show is everything Velma wishes it was:
-Funny
-Dark
-Puts the characters in a serialized plot
-Treats the characters with respect
-Pays tribute to the entire Scooby-Doo franchise
It also actually has Velma and Shaggy temporarily dating
You're right about the 1st 3. but I'm pretty sure Velma did not intend for the last 2. Especially since there were some interviews before the airing that basically had them calling these characters one dimenginel for the last couple of decades...
@@stitches4714 well now we know why
And some tributes to other HannaBarbera properties
And it also actually has Scooby-Doo in it.
It was an adult scooby doo show that didn't try too hard to be an adult scooby doo show cough cough Velma cough cough. Characters had their own growth , personalities, backstories etc. Great relationships. Just fire
And it had a whole overarching plot. The only Scooby series til day to do so, and do it GREATLY
Great relationships? With all those conflicts? Seriously?
@@averelldalton7964 I'd hardly call it conflict, the only conflict I've seen was Velma and Shaggy's relationship, other stuff like Daphne and Fred really only had minor inconvenience in their relationships cuz it really only lasted an episode long each problem
Yea and they didn’t make major changes to the characters even with then shift in age range COUGH COUGH Velma COUGH COUGH
What's up with the 'cough cough velma'??...
This series actually gave an origin to Scooby's ability to talk. Apparently he, and possibly other talking animals, are descendents of animal gods.
Wouldn't that basically make Scooby a demigod? 🤯
Not just animal gods... _Eldritch alien_ animal gods.
the fact that the movie did that too, explains that Mystery Incorporated and Scoob are connected. They also both have blue falcon (except his son since the original retired) so they’re kind of, connected.
So stupid
not so much the descendants of gods, more of the animals those gods possessed to speak to humans
This show went from standard Scooby-Doo mysteries to a kid getting killed by robot nazis, an entire town getting eaten by a demon nazi parrot and the entire universe being rebooted. Best Scooby-Doo show imo!
there sure is a lot of murder in Mystery Incorporated
Why this sounds kind like JOJO brizara adventure now?
He wasn’t really a Nazi parrot he was just German
@Life Hoes On that is true, cause he had a lot of interest in krampus in the krampus episode and he liked to murder random people and he owned nazi robots so I guess it makes sense
@@cupheadjustacup1932 A totally not a nazi parrot that totally didn’t enslave the entire town into doing manual labor with the totally not Jin-Roh inspired Kriegstaffabots (that have a white on red symbol on their helmets) holding whips before the totally not a nazi parrot begins to give the command to kill all of the townspeople after they have served their purpose? The totally not a nazi parrot that was working with another scientist in 1930s Germany?
Mystery Incorporated deserves more attention. When I first watched it I was blown away by how it stayed true to the characters and formula of Scooby-Doo while telling a complex, thrilling, and emotional overarching narrative. It was more "adult" than this could ever hope to be.
no joke my mum was constantly surprised at how dark it got at several points
A second part of this would hit harder than Velma show. They did went on a field trip sort of thing
whenever I look back at come undone I hate the part when every BEST character get eaten. Mayor Jones, Sheriff, Mayor Nettles, it makes me want to literally want to KILL professor Pericles and the cursed entity
"How it stayed true to the characters" did we watch the same characterization of Velma and Daphne
For real Netflix just realised the first season of this series hopefully it gets massive viewership so that the creators of the show can work on a continuation of this show
I truly love the fact that the new Velma show has reignited peoples love for this show just because they needed a dose of true Scooby-Doo nostalgia.
It also got a lot of people (myself included) to really appreciate Be Cool Scooby Doo
@Blue Blaze King Personally, me too. Sure, it looked like another Family Guy ripoff, but the writing was pretty decent and funny too.
Also the fact that Mystery Incorporated is essentially Velma done right.
I finished velma last week and immediately pulled this up as a palate cleanser.
@@michaelstrong5383 The only thing that made it look like a family guy ripoff was the animation/art style. Everything else is basically a generic scooby-doo show, which does make it some sort of a fan favorite.
The writers of Velma need to take note of this show. It's a perfect example how to point out social issues and make adult jokes, while still being funny. You don't need to be cringy and overbearing to get the point across.
maybe that was intentional, I mean, people watching something to hate on it is still views by the end of the day
But why did you need to get rich you have a job! You're a teacher! .....oh right yeah makes sense
@@LoneWolf20213 that formula only works for so long, eventually it isn't able to sustain itself in the long run, quality and passion is what will push the content to far greater heights in the long haul
@@Chackz0 you think I don't know that, hate watching only works for o1 or 2 shows, but making a good show is difficult so it's easier to make a show people watch to hate more than anything
@@LoneWolf20213 hear you brother, awful shame these corporations blatantly don't care about trying to put out quality anymore, they truly do spite their audiences
Mystery Incorporated!Fred was a god tier iteration of the character and the autism coding/representation I never knew I wanted or needed. I related so so HARD to Fred in this show. Most of his struggles navigating social settings and missing cues were a massive mood and I was able to grow along with him in areas of it. All of this topped with being a hilarious, and frankly often badass individual who thrived in his element and deeply cared for his loved ones. A true king.
I will never watch Velma knowing how they butchered my man beyond recognition.
As a person who spent their entire 1st grade year watching this show as a kid, I liked how at the end of season 1 they shaved Shaggy's hair down and then allowed it to slowly grow back throughout the beginning of Season 2.
Most shows won't do that and will just fix it either in the same episode or the next one, but I find it interesting when shows do something similar to that.
Mystery Inc just hit the nail on the head. It was funny, and genuine, and a little messy. The characters had genuine connections with each other, and the ending was well done. It really brought the intensity from “Mr. E is pretty weird” to “holy crap we're being attacked by Nazi robots and a murderous parrot and holy crap it's a centuries-old entity out to literally devour the entire world”.
The fact this show handles topics like parental issues and teen romance better than Velma can even dream of makes me appreciate Mystery Inc. even more than I already did! Can't wait for Part 2!
Lol y'all attacking Velma🤣🤣🤣
Saw it again last month. It was incredible and had a lot more hidden details to the overall story. Even the death was actually done well losing cast members
Sheriff getting lady mayor was probably the best scene at the end having many kids.
Velma in this series while she may act like a know it all she's still likeable compared to "velma" in the new show.
Same with how the ending basically tells us where the mystery Inc gang was going in the original show with the world being reset. That was a nice detail.
Okay man, I usually keep quiet around here but it's painfully disturbing me how I see you everywhere. I think we have the exact same tastes
@@bigfish5544 from what I gather in a lot of the communities I'm a part of. I get that response a lot
My guess is I have a good amount of stuff I like and that helps me be found by people in specific groups or communities
I bought it a few weeks ago too! Marathoner it right and then.
@@leileyaravencroft i saw it on HBO max. It was pretty fun overall and i will definitely see it again when it's fresh
Sheriff Chaddicus
I personally thought that one of the reasons why SDMI is considered to be the best is because one of the shows key components is that the plot had character development which not too many of the previous SD incarnations had it's also a pretty good "modern" adaptian of the Scooby Doo just like "What's New Scooby Doo" was.
In my opinion, because of Velma, the past productions of Scooby Doo's gonna get more respect than before, after all, this series had all the elements Velma needed to be good.
Scooby doo mystery inc was the best cuz it was for an older audience but not only that it told multiple stories instead of just “who is the guys under the mask?” Every episode. It told stories abt fred’s family, freddie and daphne, the scooby, velma, shaggy love triangle while at the same time progressing the planispheric disc story.
It was pretty cool how each on this show, it connected each Hannah Barbera shows into one universe
In a better way than what Scoob! tried xD
What I loved most about Mystery Inc is it did something new with the characters but didn't change the core of the characters.
Exactly, the core of the characters are the same.
But but the knew velma is change and the show are sucks weird and velma is a pervert and Fred and Dauphin
Of course it changed the core of the characters.
My sister is a big Scooby-Doo fan, so it was surprising that she didn't want to watch this. But I finally got her to do so after I watched it for myself three years ago, and she did NOT regret it.
I grew up watching What’s New Scooby Doo. Had fun adventures, mysteries sometimes were more than mysteries, and it was more light hearted. When I watch Mystery Inc, I get this unintentional cool feeling that it’s What’s New, but matured with their audience. More serious mysteries, good comedic moments, and most importantly, these character we’ve grown up with FINALLY gets character development. Hard for reboots to nail the formula with a new spin.
This entire show’s greatness can be summorized with one name, Pericles. Pericles being the main villian of the show combined with the lore the show has and the characters in it, all of them fell short to Pericles’ influence and manipulations.
Pericles as a villian was so perfect. He was the cause of the Aphredite episode and the we the audience didn’t have any clue that it actually was him until the end. He killed Ed Machine simply because he became too revealing to the gang, and his diabolical ways of aquiring the pieces of the disk and eventually the disk itself was crazy. He put cobra venom in Mr E’s spine and tortured him to submit, he made an old member of an older mystery group create a lab underwater to search for a piece and in the process give him an army of Nazi robots to aid his search for the treasure and the evil entity. And to top it all off his non existing hesitation. He didn’t hesitate once to kill anyone that stood in his way, he killed Ed Machine, he killed Hot dog water, he blew up the underwater base with Cassidy in it, he almost killed Mr E (his literally best friend).
Pericles is what made the show for me
What was pretty amusing about the show was that Fred's kidnapper (Fred Jones Sr.) was a more caring parent to Fred than Fred's own biological parents...
“ Velma! Stop breaking the cemetery!!” Favourite scooby doo quote ever
Actually I don't know how I never thought of it like that, velma is the only one in the five man squad that's never had her double. Fred and daphne have always been implied as either together or at least interested in eachother, and shaggy and scooby are like *the* duo, almost never seperated, while velma is just there, filling an important role in the team yes, but still the only one that's always alone. Honestly that's why I wish hot dog water had become an actual member of the team at some point in season two, even if the studio was still uptight about not letting velma be canonically together with her, the scenes where her and velma were working together during the season two timeskip/flashbacks was one of the only times where velma seemed to actually be enjoying everything.
Cant remember who said it, But a big reason why hot dog water and Velma worked was because they were on a equal footing
Velma did not have to be smart one
She didn't have to be the one to figure it all out
It only dawned on me recently but I always think that in some aspects, characterization is the most important factor to writing a good product. While the story is the "vehicle", the characters are the "wheels" and if it wasn't for the evolved characterization of the Scooby Doo cast in Mystery Inc., people probably wouldn't have been as invested with the story because the characters were what kept it moving.
I love this series so much the lore is actually crazy and is actually really good.
Mystery Incorporated is how you do a rework of a beloved franchise and modernize it without losing the core of what made the franchise special in the first place.
Velma is how you rework a beloved franchise and "mOdErNiZe" it while also losing the core of what made the franchise special in the first place. I mean, Velma feels like Scooby-Doo characters slapped over a different show, and even saying THAT is generous.
One of the things the show did that was amazing not just for the franchise but as a whole was, after revealing that the mayor isn't Fred's dad, Fred spends time trying to get to know his real parents, but after they show just how indifferent they are to everyone except themselves, Fred realizes the mayor (who i believe was in custody at this point) is the closest thing he had to a dad, and that despite the fact the mayor is an awful person, they still love each other
I remember watching this show with my brother during summertime. This is definitely one of the best scooby doo series I have EVER watched and it deserves wayyyyy more attention. There’s mystery, horror, humor, and the characters stay true to themselves. I would definitely recommend watching.
I’ve watched Mystery Inc. many times, and throughout my rewatches, I ended up realizing how, even at the start of the series where it seems like the gang is just solving some willy nilly mysteries, they’re all connected from the first letter of Mr. E and the Slime (Fruitmeier) Monster to the end of the series with Nibiru and the Crystal Sarcophagus. The characters are fleshes out and have a great moments on their own and together compared to Velma
2:11 oh my god I just realized, “Mr. E” like Mystery
That took me so long to realize
lol I didn't realize until I rewatched it a few months back and felt so disappointed in myself for not making that connection
It’s just the best. The hex girls gave us more hit songs. We had a kill count and that Marcie death scene was chilling. You could just hear the gunshot and scooby whimpering😢 dynamite was my favorite new character and the fact she died hurt me sooo much as a kid. This show finally gives daphne and Fred a personality/backstory. EVERYTHING was amazing besides how they ended it too quickly 😔
The show is basically everything Velma claims to be
It is shockingly dark for a kids' show, has a solid story, fun characters and it does it all without losing what made the franchise so great.
It was a good show. What I enjoyed of the series it had ties to the original Scooby Doo Series, the museum showed their past monsters. It felt nostalgic.
Thanks to anyone who reads.
The show was the closest the franchise ever needed to get to an "adult" show. It also had solid, interesting lore and memorable characters with some the best and most unique monster designs the franchise has ever had. The show was beautiful to look at featured refences to tons of horror movies, guest appearences and cameos from iconic Scooby characters from the past as well and both the animation and voice acting is top notch.
What happened to Mystery Inc is like what happened with original teen titans
Ikr, needs more seasons! I would also LOVE to see a crossover btw!
@@ikathiibean it wouldn't make sense. Every other version of Scooby Doo doesn't go past 2-3 seasons
@@alchemistofsteel8099 oh I didn’t know that. But still, have them break something!
apparently the writers of MI were approached by Warner Bros multiple times to extend the show another season recently. It seems outlandish since its been over a decade but we could legit get a third season of this show. It being 2024 though, and seeing how the Velma show turned out... I really hope they don't ruin it if it were to happen.
This show was my first true exposure to the Scooby Doo franchise, and it did not disappoint!
Really you never seen a pup named Scooby Doo, What's New Scooby Doo or even the original Scooby Doo Where Are You on Cartoon Network before?
@@raidernation2163 I plan on watching the 60’s show at some point
@@tre-engines while your at it try watching Scooby Doo on Zombie Island at night while on LSD it's fucking lit 🔥 🔥🔥
Watching Mystery Inc. Even after I've seen it many times, it's become more clear to me that everything Velma strived to do, Mystery Inc. Did so much better and it came out much earlier. The biggest thing I think makes this series is its Devotion to its characters and their arcs, if the lore didn't pull you in I think it's safe to say the characters and their arcs will. So even after all this time and how much I've grown since first watching this series, I still love this version of the Scooby-Doo gang. ❤️
8 Episodes in and I'm hooked.
Best joke: the teacher that tunneled his way to the bank
Velma: but you’re a teacher, why would you want more money?
teacher: fucking DEAD silence and a DEAD stare
the gang: oh yeah I forgot fair enough
You son of--
Dangling the cliffhanger carrot in front of our faces, huh?
It introduced a bigger plot with multiple smaller mysteries taking place within episodes which slowly merged together until the finale. Characters would change and alter and these changes lasted multiple episodes. Lot of mysteries would be carried over multiple episodes and slowly reveal the main story. It was engaging as much as it was entertaining. It wasn't just short episodes that had nothing to do with each over but one large one which viewers wanted to know as much as the characters. The world felt consistent and relevant and gave the views more to do than just being entertained. It made them want more and to solve the greater mystery which was taking place.
When your the best you the best , honestly one of the first shows that introduced serialization to me and I am thankful for it
10 minutes in
I consider it the best since they had that episode that cameoed a bunch of old Hannah Barbara cartoons
what made it so good was that there was a contiuing narrative, simple as. that's so important because it then allows for the lore, the character development, the mystery, and so on
This is one of those shows I feel is truly one of a kind, and that it would be hard if not impossible to make something like this again. It's a connected story with one big arc which the characters slowly uncover more and more pieces of, and uses beloved, classic characters to do so, yet updates them in ways natural to their core elements.
Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated was an amazing way to tell the Scooby story while keeping to its origins.
This version of scooby doo is goated!
If anyone tries to make an Adult Oriented Scooby-Doo Series. Mystery Incorporated, the 1st 4 DTV Movies and Scoobynatural are the blueprints you need to take influence from.
I love Scooby Doo mystery Inc. so much and honestly the fact that at least to me it seems like the most talked about Scooby Doo. I still find it criminally underrated if you have not watched it and you just came across this video. I’ll greatly encourage you to still go watch it it is amazing.
How is it possible this show did better at being an adult show than Velma, an actual adult show?
Easy, because being too woke always ruins everything
One word: care
Part 2 not be out yet
Mystery Incorporated is Ten Times a better dark version of the Scooby Doo brand than Velma "TRY" to be.
I personally think this is the best, I love the show, I've watched it three times now and it still makes me laugh and I always get into it. Yes its not normal scooby doo, yes its weird. But thats what's amazing about it. Its Not normal, its New. And Sometimes new is Good, it can be uncomfortable but you gotta learn to open up... But, thats sometimes. Not All new us good, Velma for instance. Anyways, back to Mystery Inc. I liked seeing a Deeper lore for the gang being together, the deeper history of the gang and the backstory and stuff. The gang learning about the episodes mystery but trying to also piece together the Series mystery. Which they managed to blend amazingly I think. It never felt like, "Stop showing us this mystery, I want to see the other one." I always enjoyed both of em. And not to mention since it was all based in one town and everything it felt more personal for everyone. It wasnt just, some random town or location that they might never visit again. It was Home, with their parents and school and stuff. Even the Back ground characters had stories that evolved and shifted. It was just, More then what the original series provided in my opinion. And they did it Great. Now, me saying all this does Not mean I'm saying the others are bad. I Still think the other Scoobies are great, minus Velma. But this one just meant more for me.
I’ve been watching the show for a long time and I can’t believe I haven’t noticed that Mr E. is wordplay for ‘mystery’.
These show was actually pretty amazing, and the fact that it kept everything in balance with its humor, dark tones, and relatable characters was so good, and of course the main storyline itself is what kept me intrigued by watching every episode.
If you want to watch a Scooby show that is mature, changes characters for the better while staying true to the source material, & stylish animation, watch Mystery Incorporated
i recently rewatched all of mystery inc
the ending of the show is so amazing
The thing is for the characters in this show, for as many faults and problems as they have, they aren't all just complete horrible pieces of shit. There's likability to them, they show concern and care for each other, even when they're mad at each other, they work through though toxic problems and become better. Even the town, for as much as it ostracizes them, they go out of their way to help the people of Crystal Cove. Even the Sheriff comes to respect them!
The Characters are actual people.
And Mystery Incorporated Velma may be a bit unlikeable(especially during S1), but at least Daphne calling out Velma during the s1 finale was the moment Velma needs to tone down her bitchy side
They took scooby doo and made it into an actual horror like cartoon that still retained its whacky charm without ruining the characters. I’d say it even bettered them.
This is the show they should've continued to make , the story , villains , lore progression and just overall worldly sense of doom when facing the evil was just the best example of Scooby Doo becoming a anime/thriller/drama everyone involved in this show should be proud
Spoilers for Pirates Ahoy, Mystery Inc., and Velma
So that’s three times at least one of Fred’s parents have been the bad guy. And every time involved mind manipulation. Is this gonna be a pattern or something?
I just recently finished rewatching Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated and I must say, it's way better than when I watched as a kid.
The character development is awesome, the story is catchy and intriguing and even side characters are quite good, I went from hating Hot Dog Water to really liking her, the new Mayor Janet (I think) is a really great character even though she appears only in the second season, God, even Angel, a new character, has almost the same level of development as the main five.
Seeing the group solve mysteries together is always refreshing, the subtile hints they give about the main plot makes you wonder: "what comes next?" Also, seeing them fighting for their lives ever so often is quite gruesome for a kids show, but it still doesn't seem forced or out of place.
Sorry for the big text, it's just, this show has always been one of my favorites and seeing how it is coming back because of Velma is weird.
Well, that show did something great for once.
All the other Scooby-Doo shows and movies are pretty good (with the obvious exception of Velma,) but Mystery Inc. was, and still is, simply peak.
Derrick J Wyatt's Work RULES!!!
This is how you written a good modern and dark take on Scooby Doo. It's call good creative talent unlike the bizzaro version of Velma...Oh I'm sorry "The Mindy Show".
When he called the pieces of the Planispheric disc slices i thought he was going to joke about calling it a pizza😂
This one also tells bout there backgrounds and history of the families others didn’t show that
The theme song was a bop.
i spent the last few weeks watching it with my mum and she quotes Scooby once a day
no joke! i'd be going about my business and she'd say in a bad scooby voice "ArE yOu....ChEaTiNg On Me?"
Well Velma did one thing right. It made us love all the other Scooby-Doo shows and their spinoffs so much more. Sure some weren't the best but they tried something new while respecting the characters. That and Scrappy is no longer the most hated character.
I find it funny that the black Velma that we got in Mystery Incorporated back then (Cassidy Williams) is better than the black Velma that we have now! XD
The lore went crazy
This shows story was so good
I love the show. It was different and felt special.
Its not just my favorite Scooby doo show, but one of my favorite animated shows in general. Its the perfect mysterie show.
"Stop breaking the cemetery" 💀
Totally! Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated is like the pre-Riverdale version with its own mystery vibes.
Finally! I'm so glad you brought to light the rightful appreciation to this show its so good
@AlphaJayShow I loved this show when I was younger And I wished this did come back but knowing Warner Bros they would just mess that up to also it would be quite impossible considering the two people that worked on this show together was J Wyatt and Dwayne Duffy considering both worked on as the other show they worked at the time was known as Ben 10 alien, force witch shared the same art style as Scooby doo mystery Inc. did but because both Dwayne McDuffie and J Wyatt have both passed away and that’s Why I see it as Impossible for scooby doo mystery Inc to ever come back.
Imo "Scooby Doo Where Are You?" "What's New Scooby Doo", "The New Scooby Doo Movies", and "A Pup Named Scooby Doo" is/was my favorite. And after Velma I'm also adding "Be Cool Scooby Doo" on my favorites list as well!! 🐶
Mystery Incorporated was a brilliant show and just slightly before its time. Co-creator Mitch Watson since then has moved on to other good shows like Beware the Batman, All Hail King Julien, Kung Fu Panda: Paws of Destiny, and Big Nate. You can find some of the ingredients that made MI good in those shows too, from the darker humor to the horror vibe of some episodes, serialized storytelling, and the voice cast.
It’s because Fred screams I Love Traps.
Another great thing about this show is it’s atmosphere. The beautiful visuals and memorable soundtrack gives the overarching mystery even more tension.
I really hope they’ll continue it at some point
This is my absolute favorite version of scooby doo! The writing was funny and entertaining. Plus, the animation is beautiful.
What's New Scooby-Doo will always be my favorite
I love it when he showed the part 2 videos
My former friend told me that the "tell your mother she makes great soup" line was an innuendo and after rewatching it, yeah it was
Love how everyone has their story
Mystery inc was goated
The question remains:
Where is Scooby-Doo?
My favorite Scooby-Doo show ever
Mr. E was always twisted and easy to corrupt, especially when it comes to The Curse Of Crystal Cove
7:09
7:11 this part gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME lol 😆 😂 🤣 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So where is part two? I'm literally asking just because of this guy's comments on this hit so close to home I want to see his reaction to the rest of the show
His videos usually get all the views a week after uploading, so I think we just saw the video way too early before he uploaded Part 2 lol
I just recently heard about this show cause of Velma I truly believe if Velma never came out I would have never heard about this show cause I've seen a whole lot of remade Scooby and never heard of this show looks good gonna check this one out thanks man
Cant wait for part 2 keep up the great work jay
I really need to watch more of Mystery Inc
The animation, plot, characters, darkness, humor, and literally everything is good at this show. ❤😊
This show and what's new Scooby Doo are perfect!
Your videos are amazing! This is probably the best so far in my opinion!
They broke the mold on how to tell a scooby do show no more episodic stories nor the
Oh there's a mystery happening in the place that we are visiting or we won a prize
And it worked specially the dark tone seriously it shocked me when hot dog water was killed by gunshots or the citizens after being eaten by monster pericles
Please do a Moon Girl and DevilDinosaur video. That show is awesome.
Am I the only one disappointed that this dude did not mentioned that some episodes DON'T end up by the villain's "face reveal", which broke the base code of Scooby-Doo episodes and allowed the viewer to be hooked up with an unsolved mystery. THAT's why this show used to be so refreshing.
(well, I mean that and the Twin Peaks references of course xP).
