  • The Five Articles of Remonstrance (1610) prompted a response from the Reformed church. The 1618-19 Canons of Dort (Dordrecht) were written to settle the dispute of the Remonstrants' 5 points. These have since become known as the "5 points of Calvinism" or even more simplistically as "TULIP". Modern opponents to the Reformation theology regarding these 5 heads of doctrine (variously named Provisionalists, Traditionalists, Arminians, Semi-Pelagians) have found Titus chapter 2 and verse 11 and a proof text (or whipping post in many cases) against Reformed theology. Does Titus 2 undermine those distinctive points of Reformed orthodoxy ironed out in the Canons? No. Enjoy the video.
