When Renee said you can't say Mean Girls and someone not know what you are talking about, I chuckled. I told my parents I was going to go see the new Mean Girls, they had no clue what I was talking about. I was astonished, how do you raise 2 girls in the 2000s and NOT know mean girls?!

Agreed. I've recently learnt that it takes alot of inspiration from the Broadway production too which is probrably another reason why its so different from the original. And also, what's wrong with different? If it was the exact same as the 2004, then they are doing the exact same crash grab behaviour as disney. Plus it would probably be boring. However, I feel like there is a lot of love behind this film. I still prefer the original but that doesn't make this adaption bad. I think people are being a bit harsh and dramatic. Like, have an opinion sure, by all means be mad that it's a musical or whatever, but don't undermine the actual effort put into this film compared to most shit lazy films being made these days.

So actually, I got a chance to go to the filming site, Mater Dei Prep last year, and it was so cool to see all the behind the scenes stuff! Everything there, down to the background props and even the lunchroom, felt like we had stepped into the movie! We actually saw some of the girls with the mascara trend walking down the halls so that was AMAZING! The school was so immersive and it was so amazing to have that chance!

I'm so bothered that this girl thinks social media didn't exist in 2004. It absolutely did, it's just that ADULTS like Tina Fey didn't understand it well enough to write it into a movie. There was a huge lag between social media existing and when it started to be represented in movies and TV. People didn't really know how to incorporate it at first.
