When you said you have never done sowing I was like oh this might not end well..... but holy mate you did an amazing job it turned out great
It is normal to be your own worst critic. Personally, I think you did a great job, your work is inspirational, as I set out to create my own center console. Thank you for the video
Probably the most professional build I’ve seen on here.
Thanks mate!
Now this is called craftsmanship! Exactly what I needed as I am working on restoration of 70 series!
dear usman do you know where i can get same modification?
Liking the extra space for the control boxes. Definitely beats buying a console!
Yeah mate %100
Buildin70s you should make one for your channel
On the inside of the console where the sharp corner are, if stiffness is a concern, use tin used on HVAC or even roof flashing. It is very thin and if bent at good angles, a strong staple gun or simple screws can be used. This is a gusset to increase rigidity.
Also, consider a rare earth magnet for latching the lid. With a paddle bit, epoxy and 4 magnets (Two for top, two for bottom) just make sure they are facing the right direction. I have nothing against Velcro but over time one side will load up with debris or the girls hair. It has to be cleaned even though you have a friction fit now. It just looks cleaner as well. Just future suggestions as it came out great.
Got a sewing machine, do the seats. Headliner material is cheap and if glued and sewn on the back of your choice of material, add that extra softness. For patterns, a home improvement store sell Red Rosin paper about $10 USD. It is a meter wide and 80 meters long and thicker than construction paper. Cutting a drawn pattern is easy to transfer as each can be labeled and held with a stick pin. Piping is common as a French Seam. I use air shock tubing as it is cheap and the right size. Best of off-road travels and don’t forget tools & some medical box… Not for you but the guy you meet on the trail who tipped! Safe journeys.
Dude…. What a great job. You made it look so easy I think I might even give it a try!!! Thank you.
It's awesome that you're 100% honest at the beginning of the video that your new to building/fabricating a center console. There's not many people on youtube like yourself because all they care about is view's and could careless about anything else.
You should be VERY proud of yourself. Great job
this turned out so smooth, i was so ready to go ehhhhh but this was so clean, sick video
Haha so was I believe me 😂
Shed Built if you don’t make the video on it chuck a cheeky update on how you manage to work in the console fridge, interested to see how you mount It with the middle pull out ! Loving the troopy dude you’re tempting me to grab one! Hahaha
Looks mint dude better than 100+k cruiser
Honestly man if you ever get the time have this as a side hustle because there aren't a lot of homemade basic centre consoles on the market. Most are super high end 79 roof mounted or centre mounted and they cost big $$$ for very basic setups with not much space benefits. This one looks so good and actually utilises the space quite well
Results a ripper mate 💯
Thanks mate! 🤙
I cannot believe how well that turned out.
From those shitty pieces of mdf just stapled together to that,
well done mate!

Good inspiration to do one for mine now 👌
Dude this looks amazing, I need to do this to my truck.
Well done for giving upholstery a go! It came up really well 👌
Often vinyl will stretch one way further than the other. With MX seats you need that stretch running in all the same direction (i.e front to back) and it takes out a lot of that puckering.
Looks great man, well done!
Doesn't look first time at all, well done mate!
Geez bro
Thats some good work!
Love your work mate. That came out professional as 🤌👌
Great work man
