he's easily one of the best lyricists of all time. the shit he wrote, especially for full collapse and war all the time, was so deep and the words aren't devoid of meaning like so many pseudo-intellectual lyricists.
Kazuya completely agree man he going to be known as a lyricist that was great and before his time. Newer generations will hear his stuff and see it like gold.

Ive loved Thursday since day one! It was the band that helped me through high school. I have all their cd's, Will never forget, I still have a belt buckle with the Thursday Dove, which I rock all the time
So disappointed I never got to see them when they came to the UK. They have created some of the best music I've ever heard - especially 'A City By The Light Divided' which is pretty much my all-time favourite album. Thanks guys.
I got to meet Geoff in Chicago after Thursday had played "Full Collapse." Super nice guy.
Such a great band and even better dudes. We were lucky to have them.
I've seen these guys a bunch of times.. make it a point to see them when they come out to Toronto no matter who they're playing with. I found out about a lot other bands through them but they've always been my favorite since I heard war all the time .... they will be missed.
Crazy to hear that Thursday and Thrice were always compared to each other. They are 2 of my favorite bands and have ben since 2003.
Good news, Thursday is back!!
thursday has achieved legendary status in their scene. if they've decided that it's their time, then it is. it's not taking back what they've done for us. that will always be there. the first time you heard waiting, or full collapse, or WATT, or even more recent albums for newer fans...whatever it was. you'll never forget that. and the split they did with envy is brilliant. it sucks to think they didn't want to make music together anymore, but they've given us enough.

sad to see/ hear, I hope we can see them come together again in the future everything theyve done has been magic they are the difference between people that can play/ make music and true artists they will be missed
Damn man, sucks for you. They had their Farewell tour last summer. I'm so glad I got to go. First time I had seen them since November 05.

I saw them at Warped a few years back, and they only had around 30 minutes to play. Some guy in the audience asked them to play Cross Out the Eyes because it was his favorite song and he traveled a long time to see them. Even though it wasn't in their set, they played it. They are an awesome band and will definitely be missed.

I used to think Thrice & Thursday somehow had a correlation. The started out the same time, broke out in similar ways.

Within about a month of finding out about Thursday and realising they were the best band ever, I found out about Thrice and I see what you mean; they are very similar-ish and they do seem to remind me of the other when I listen.

*When they tour again don't miss out.I made sure to watch Soundgarden live when they reunited in 2011 also.That band came back 2010 and broke up in 1997.
Yeah, I don't know where they are but I'm here. I think Thursday kinda fell off after War All The Time when after that they started to experiment more and were less mainstream. Still their fans love Full Collapse and War All The Time and I will always be listening to them.

We seen Thursday back in 04 at the warehouse/kool haus in Toronto and managed to get their setlist! Its now framed and hung on the wall! Im not sure but that may have been the last time they were in Canada.

I have a feeling in the next couple years they will secretly make and then release a new album and it will be another War all the Time. Not playing with each other for a few years will make them so pumped and will lead them into making some classics. I can hope and dream right?
nope, I like Thursday Ive seen them live 3 times back in around 2005. Just making a valid point, This person says "I hate how these Thursday videos have less than 1,000 views" and I said Thursday was famous before youtube days.. They were most famous before 2007. its a Point.
Geoff is still making awesome music... but yes there’s nothing like Thursday. But there are at least 2 good newer bands with Geoff as frontman. He is right that the last few albums are not like classic Thursday. A City By The Light Divided is where it starts, and Common Existence is so dark and beautiful. That and Full Collapse are great but too different to compare. I love that he mentions Glassjaw

That is because most these bands' fans bought the albums and go to shows so there is no need to see videos of them performing. In other genres like rap and pop it seems like the fans are focused more on the music videos than the lyrics or musicianship

No Devolucion blows away their older albums, I'm sorry. It makes them so much more unique and has the most evolved sound.

Because Thrice and Thursday should have been The Beatles and Led Zeppelin of our era, but popular music prefers the likes of Lady GaGa and Lil Wayne. Wouldn't have been my choice to represent an era, but that lack of support causes groups to break up or go on hiatus. Hey, at least some of us got to witness the legends.

I honestly cannot think of any reason or any way that Thrice is better than Thursday.
I saw them play the same show once. Thursday blew Thrice out of the water. One of the best sets I've ever seen from any genre.

All of their fans we're right at the beginning of the social network revolution (late 90's early 2000's). CZcams isn't our lives it's a part of it. I'd rather see them have 1000 views with people who are living their lives as individuals than a billion views of a video dancing like he's on a horse. The price you pay to be legit.

Sure, everyone has their opinion, that doesn't mean they have good reasons for their opinion.
I stopped listening to Thrice after about three songs, yeah. I find no redeeming value in their music at all. It sounds like pretty indistinguishable from every other band in their genre. On the other hand, I can't think of any band that sounds quite like Thursday.
What exactly got better about Thrice?

Common Existence is by far their best album.. No devolucion is alright, it's a grower... city by the light is probably their absolute worst record

Yeah City By The Light is probably the weakest. Some of the songs were good, but man the production was BAD, layers of distortion, effects and compression on nearly everything. A showcase on how to let a producer/engineer destroy (some) good songs.

Thrice is without a doubt way better than Thursday. That being said, I love old Thursday.

exactly what it sounds like, the sound changed, there image changed, they became more "radio friendly" same thing thrice did and every other band does that reaches this point, they reach a point, they want to "appeal to a larger demographic" So they start producing polished well rounded songs that just dont have any of the feeling of there original "hits". Im 27 ive watched the band go from being nothing to huge, to nothing again. How old are you Hijodemexico?
