The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Fantastic Teresa Brewer performance! It's so great to see her again! I particularly loved "My Melancholy Baby". What a beautiful song, and I've enjoyed many of the versions posted. Teresa's, Tina Robin's and Wayne Newton's renditions have been my favorites on the Sullivan show. Thank you so much for posting this, and I'd also love to see Jan Peerce sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" on this episode. Thanks again for this wonderful Teresa Brewer video!

We can see that now the show was being recorded on videotape instead of kinescope. You also have her song and dance of Changes from 1955. This time she is singing live instead of prerecorded.
About a month later she did a song and dance of Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend.

Imagine her up on some big stage - belting out some song - and folks out in the audience saying: "I can hear her - but I can't see her."

My guess is they were making young performers a little more relatable to older audiences...🤷🏽‍♂️

Teresa Brewer recorded "There'll Be Some Changes Made" on her 1955 Coral album, "Music, Music, Music". She sang it throughout her career. I am not sure when she originally recorded "Melancholy Baby", but it is included on several greatest hit compilations.
