Alcohol is directly toxic to the liver; if you have any other underlying liver condition, alcohol is all the more toxic. Conditions like fatty liver, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, autoimmune disease, primary biliary cholangitis, and hemochromatosis are all made more worse with alcohol.
Alcohol excess is associated with cirrhosis and liver cancer.
