- Hello friends! In today's video, I am showing how I shortened the sleeves on this plastic, TPU raincoat. This job is quite daunting as there isn't much room for error and the sleeves are tapered. However, the logic behind this job will hopefully apply to shortening the sleeves on other jackets... with actual fabric lol!

Thank you again!!!!
I’m so glad to hear it was useful! Although the job itself is rare, there are many tips to learn from this video. Cheers! 🥰
@@DowntownTailoring absolutely right.....especially the part about tapering the sleeve to eliminate puckers.... I have been cutting alot of men's long sleeve shirts to short sleeves.... and have a tough time with the flat feld seam when tapering.
@@DowntownTailoring whether it's DPU , vinyl, faux leather or genuine leather...the needle marks all have to be considered.... no margin for error !!!!
@@madeleineschwarrtz7433 Exactly!

Wow this is crazy! You are so awesome!
Thank you!!!!
Excelent! Thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it!
if you don't have the teflon feet you can spray some silicone spray on the bottom of your presser foot and on the needle plate and the plastic will slip across really nice. works good with polyurethane laminate fabrics as well
Yes! There are few tricks that can help. Thanks for sharing 🥰🥰🥰
Thank You!🎉

Norma! Thank you for your kind words as always 🥰
@@DowntownTailoringI really liked how you showed us how to taper the sleeves. 😊
Awesome, the use of masking tape, genius. Hope your colleague watches the video! 😂 seriously, thanks……
😁
Very interesting. I’m interested in why you needed to change the press or foot.
Thanks! The Teflon will allow the plastic to slide better under it than the metal foot. Cheers 🥰

Great tip. Did you use a special thread snd special needle ?
Thanks! You will need a sharp needle for sewing plastic. The size will depend upon the calibre of your plastic. I hope this helps! 🥰
