Dude I’ve been following your channel since the early days and can I just say your guides are the easiest to follow with really great results, really made be overcome my fear of painting these big models. Keep up the excellent work with channel
That’s awesome to hear, I’m so glad I could help and I hope you have shown yourself you can tackle any model you want now-a lot of it is about confidence! Thanks so much for letting me know that!
This tremendous. What I love the most is how you've painted his armour like it was before his ascension. If I give in to temptation and pick this up I'll be super inspired (ok stealing heavily) from your scheme.
He looks really good. This was a great guide. You definitely made it seem like less of a daunting task to paint Angron. I'm very tempted by these new World Eaters releases.
Arguably, Angron is the best Primarch model produced by GW. Hope all the Primarchs will come in plastic. Your step by step painting process is greatly appreciated by all watching your video. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video, thanks for sharing this Andy. I must get my Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage finished that you kindly helped me start painting in the store a few years ago. I KNOW I KNOW i'm brutally slow with all this!, forgive me! 🙏
Definitely easier then all tutorials. Other ones are going for golden demon levels and those people don't play so it's not realistic, for most people, and I am the worst at edge lighting. Nice job
Awesome! Worth spending 30 mins on his right pauldron with the old World Eaters symbol as it's the only real connection on the mini to the original Legion. It's also facing forward on the mini so really pops and adds some interest.
I was looking for a good and simple Angron tutorial and yours is perfect!!! Thank you for your efforts! I would really love to see your work in the Sword but I think (and hope) to have understand that work
@@MediocreHobbies just finished my Angron. I didn't do the dry brushing as I'm not sure how to and I wanted his armour to be golden. Only contrast I had was blood angels Red but looked good for me. He's not as grim dark as most people's but I'm so pleased with him. Thanks for the tutorial. The 2nd red layer of mephiston red was every good
Amazing video, i love what the berseker bloodshade did to retributor, i wonder how would it look on top of greyseer primer as i plan to paint my world eater in heresy scheme
Loving your guides for WE, working through my army in your style. I’m new to the hobby so helps so much! I have an airbrush, would you recommend using that for say his skin to start? Or just follow these steps?
I don’t use airbrushes on my channel in case people don’t have access to them but yeah if you have one it will save you some time for sure! Glad you’re enjoying the videos and if you have any more questions let me know!
I've recently discovered your Chanel and really liking the way you paint. Can I ask a newbie question. I always thought the idea with contrast paint was that you didn't need to shade and highlight so much. What's the point in using contrast paint and then layering on top with shade a lighter layers? I can see it looks great but I'm just trying to understand what role the contrast paint is playing and if it would be just as good to use normal paint?
You can of course use normal paints it will just take so much more time. So for instance base-coating this model with normal paints would take hours. With contrast it took maybe 20 minutes. Maybe less. So it’s a time save. And so times there or small parts that I don’t layer up so the contrast will stick around and look nice. Glad you like the channel.
Love your guide mate. Hopefully im going to start painting angron tomorrow if all goes well 😊 I would like to know why you prime with 2 paints? And why do you pick black and grey?
Thanks so much! I use black as a full coverage coat to cover up all the grey plastic, and black is great for adding shadows. The grey seer spray is then used from above(once the black is dry) to add light so the high points of the model are brighter than beneath it as they would be if the sun were shining from above. The grey seer spray is only lightly sprayed which means it also adds a rougher texture(not visible to us) for the contrast paint to cling better to! I use grey instead of white because white can be too stark and white spray is harder to get right so a light grey is easier! Hope all that makes sense!
@@MediocreHobbies Ty so much! Im gonna do it with classic paints instead of contrast(thats what I got), but I believe that your guide will help me alot anyway. You will get a sub from me, and im looking forward to more good guides from now on 😊 Ty mate!
Here you go! I’ve since discovered AK terrain texture paste is way better value but if you’ve already bought Astrogranite then stick with that! Let me know if you have any questions! czcams.com/users/shortsmhFpWp5fsRs?si=ftpyGkolQIdH3b-J
When you got to the Mephiston red stage, how much did you thin down your paint? I’m not confident about layering up the skin, would drybrushing the mephiston red be a better option?
Looks absolutely fabulous and super excited to get him painted up myself. Just a question as I’m going to be getting the army going myself this year, I know you usually zenithal with Grey Seer on your models. Is there any noticeable difference between using Grey Seer and White Scar for the zenithal highlights, assuming the same paints like Flesh Tearers Red? Cheers!
He looks really good, I dig that brass effect on his armour! Do you want to paint your WE with he classic red scheme? Or some Khorne Deamonkin varians from a few years back? Or maybe something Horus Heresy related?
Heya just a quick question. Is that actually a zenithal prime or is it more like a grey seer prime? Don’t really see much black and the undersides of bud parts look mostly grey too. Thanks
Any advice for getting under all the wires on his head to get to his neck? I’m painting mine fully assembled like you did and that part has some spots that I can’t seem to reach.
If you can reach them then they can’t see them so don’t worry to much. But I wouldn’t n worry about hitting the wires. Just reblack them when you finished.
do you have maybe a triad for me how to make a violet glow on the sword? Sorry if you hear this question too often, I saw you made a green undercoat on the sword at 13:10. Thanks!
Emm no green undercoat. Just a solid coat of red on the core bit of the blade with all the skulls in it. Then a drybrush of orange yellow and then white getting lighter with each step all over the blade. It’s simple.
If you base it in flesh tearer then layer it with my fist and that's a mighty big jump are you not then just better off basement all ineffistant then just do a shade Is you going from a base to another base paint
@@MediocreHobbies xD i have a couple things i wanna test out and luckily a bloodletter i lost a leg while building, so the perfect specimen. i was also thinking about trying to paint his skin Mephiston red base, Flesh tearers red and then a coat of blood for the blood god. do you have a tip how to not make him shine that much afterwards?
Emmm I personally wouldn’t give that pieces of advice. The reason being that the detail parts are usually on top of all the other parts. So that means of you paint them first you have to paint around them really carefully to get to everything else.

Another lovely painting tutorial. For this mini I would be tempted to paint it without it attached to the base, to help with all those little angles.
It’s not as tricky as it looks to paint but it would make things a bit easier 😄 bigger models are always awkward though! Glad you liked the video! 🙌

Astro granite debris brown wash drybrush dawnstone and then administratum grey

@@MediocreHobbies fair enough :). So now we have to wait and see what you concoct :D

It would be a bit more silver but still wouldn’t look bad.
