This video depicts all cutscenes with Hoyt Volker, the main antagonist of Far Cry 3. The text on the screen is in swedish.
He is described as 'armageddon' compared to Vaas and works in slave trafficking and murder. He is the leader of the Privateers.
Like most of the game's antagonists, Hoyt Volker appears to be sadistic and mentally unstable. He is shown ruthlessly torturing and executing innocents. He despises the natives of Rook Islands, describing all of them as savages and orders his men to kill any natives on sight. He is also more than willing to kill anyone who is allied with the natives.
Later in the game, Sam, Jason and Hoyt play a game of poker, with Sam planning to assassinate Hoyt during the game. Hoyt, aware of the plan, stabbed Sam in the neck during the game while Jason watched at gunpoint by several of Hoyt's guards. Hoyt decided to raise the stakes and said he would cut off one of Jason's fingers every time he lost a round. Jason attempted to counter act this by refusing to play but Hoyt cut of one of his fingers any way. After getting half of his left ring finger cut off, Jason blacks out and fights Hoyt in a dream sequence. Hoyt is eventually defeated after being stabbed through the neck and the head with both Jason's and his own knife. Jason comes to, revealing that he not only killed Hoyt, but at some point killed every guard in the room as well.

“Cancer won’t be what kills you” that line right there makes me think on the spot Hoyt knew exactly who Jason was. As he says later that he was hoping he’d join his privateers and work for him being the next vass.

And if you think about it? Jason killing the Privateers is actually doing Hoyt a favor, remember that the way Jason snuck in? was through a group of traitors who stole from Hoyt during the chaos that followed Vaas's death, and the Pirates and Privateers are fighting for control of the island. I think Hoyt intentionally wanted Jason to destroy a good chunk of his organization because it was corrupt anyways, and it was also a test of his abilities, plus it gave him a ton of leverage over Jason, considering he already held his brother prisoner and had him torture his own brother. Jason is a natural born killer, bar none the most dangerous individual to have ever stepped on the island in a very long time, not since Hoyt himself took over the Rook Islands. Jason is the ultimate warrior, and Hoyt is the apex predator. Hoyt would be insane to NOT try and hire him, his organization would be virtually unstoppable.
The sad part is? Jason would have probably been better off negotiating a deal with Hoyt to work for him in exchange for all of his friends, and his little brother, being allowed to leave the island. In one ending he is executed and in another he is a completely broken shell of a man, who will likely be unable to reintegrate into society. He completes his objective of getting his friends and family off the island, and is spared dying for nothing. If you think Hoyt wouldn't do this? Recall the poker game, "name your price, everybody has one. You're all puppets and we pull the strings! The system was designed to work that way!". Obviously, Jason is trading one evil for another, but he can always take over the organization later either because Hoyt is killed during the fighting with the Rakyat, he betrays Jason, or Jason just decides to take over by force. During the knife fight he also remarks how it's not personal and he doesn't take any pleasure in fighting him. I think Hoyt respected Jason to some degree, and at the very least, by signing on with Hoyt his friends are safe as part of the deal, his talents are beyond perfect for Hoyts organization, Jason embraces the animal he truly becomes and his life is spared. He rejects both his life back home in California, and Citra's mind control, he becomes a respected mercenary in a position that allows him to further grow his talents, and he still has enough morality to let his friends and little brother leave unharmed. He becomes more of an anti hero than a true monster, but still is NOT a good dude by the moral standards of virtually any other country or society that hasn't devolved into a state of lawlessness and anarchy like the Rook Islands have.

In fact I'd say Vaas is probably my favorite video game villain of all time. However Hoyt actually scared me. He's making a reference to how globalisation works. A successful businessman will capitalise on an idea that can go global without needing to vary it too much for each market. His contact lense with the numbers 1,2,3 is a perfect example, because countries that have a market for that item, but can't speak english, would not recognise A,B,C, while the same country, english speaking or not, are more likely to recognise 1,2,3. An American contact lense could be sold in China without variation costs

Nah. I think Hoyt is actually the superior character. Everyone’s always fangirling over Vaas. The hype around him just reminds of when Jared Leto played a totally vapid joker in suicide squad. Really eccentric over-the-top method acting, but ultimately a pretty basic deranged serial killer sociopath character. People always saying Hoyt has no backstory, totally boring character. Not true at all. His backstory is given to you in subtle tidbits, and you have to really pay attention. White South African slave trader who hates “natives”, presumably grew up under apartheid. Father was a poor, lowly, weak, and exploited proletarian. A diamond miner. He taught Hoyt that the company is god from a young age. Hoyt probably grew up full of bitterness and disdain over his weak father, determined to grow up and become the most ruthless and wealthy capitalist of them all. Also he has so many unforgettably hilarious lines, like “I’ll roast you in the furnace till your skin crackles like chicken!”, and “I prefer the European recordings! The brass sections in American orchestras are too bombastic!”, and also when he says “poker night!” and giggles and claps his hands like an excited little boy, even though he’s secretly planning something horrible. Vaas is like Darth Vader: Tragically fallen to the dark side, massive family problems, but ultimately a human being. Hoyt is Darth Sidious: totally inexplicable, inhuman, almost primordial, cold-blooded absolute evil that’s just come out of nowhere. Terrifying.

The only two characters that were interesting was Jason and Vass. Now some may wonder why I think Jason can compare with Vass. I think this becuase they are both the same. What I'm saying is, Vass was once like Jason, and Jason will eventually become Vass.
Vass says 'You are me, and I am you'.
While i'm not a big fan of the guy they chose to voice Jason, to be hones they should of stuck with the original voice actor they had for him, the guy from Deus Ex. But the changes he goes through is what's interesting.
Theirs one line in the game where he talked with Diasy, I originally missed this cutscene but it's this line said by Jason is what makes it one of the best cutscenes in the entire game, right up there with encounters with Vass.
'Ya know, I never thought I'd be able to kill someone, the first time it felt wrong, which is good right? But now, it feels like winning.'
Best line in the entire game. And here I thought Jason was just some spoiled rich kid.

Besides, there’s no way that someone like Pagan would offer some of his Army to hunt down someone out of Kyrat’s jurisdiction.
And Yuma is better at sending men die to find a mythological paradise rather than to help anyone
Hoyt is probably referring to any other high ranking members of the Cartel he’s in (we don’t actually know how high Hoyt’s rank goes as a member)
But surely if they want to avenge Hoyt and send a message to anyone else that would want to fuck with them, they will probably send a hitman after Jason (not hard to do since they have all of Jason’s and his friend’s ID’s and other information)
