    Every song Judy sings, she puts her own stamp on the song. She always elevates what is already a beautiful song to an art song. This song is perfect for her as if it was written for her. She slows down the tempo here although it's more uptempo in the recorded version. The arrangement is enchanting - all in harmony with guitar, piano and banjo. I love how Judy brings the song to a climax. Also, check out Judy's duet version with Ani DiFranco.

      Agree but for one thing. This was not written for her. It's one of Woody Guthrie's Dust Bowl ballads. Written long before she recorded it here.

    Up until now I would say that hands down Odetta's version is the best, but now I'm not so sure. Both versions are heart wrenching and eerily beautiful.

      I believe it's Nick Forster, who sang/sings with Tim O'Brien in Hot Rize.
