Can I say something? I wanna get it off my chest. I go to my apartment gym and not much people go, but there is a treadmill and recently I started going again because I want to discipline myself to be healthier. Sometimes I walk. Sometimes I jog.
But when I run...This is the video I go to when I turn up the speed.
I am no longer in my little gym. I have a number on my running clothes. I am in the olympic marathon. It's the final five minutes and fifteen seconds. My folks back home are watching via online streaming. I take the lead. "C'mon! It's just a little bit more!!" I can picture it in my head.
I pass spectators behind the barriers. I know they are shouting for their country's runners. A group with my country's colors are painted on their faces. My last name is on a banner with my country's flag as the background. I can't let them down at this point. Canon cameras click. All those hours spent in that little gym so long ago pay off in this very second. The runner to the left of me has bright orange hair. His legs mirror mine as we sprint to the final line. He wants to win as bad as I. Our sweat makes our clothes damp. He's wearing glasses but you can't hide coolness behind gritting teeth.

I picture all my friends and family back home screaming with delight as my adidas cross the finish line. Because they know my victory is theirs as well.

Escucho la porqueria de canciones de los mundiales desde el 2006, que no están mal en sus géneros pero solo son hits comerciales de discoteca, un tema oficial de un evento deportivo debe transmitir pasión, debe ponerte la piel de gallina cuando la escuchas, pocas canciones logran eso, y esta es una de ellas, la mejor cancion en un evento deportivo de la historia.
En el 2006 Alemania sacó un tema muy bueno que se llamaba Zeit, dass sicht was dreht, que lamentablemente -por el idioma- no trascendió mucho pero que es tremendo. El último intento de ‘epicidad’ en los eventos deportivos. El video muy bueno también.

I still come back to this song and the 2012 performance time and time again. It’s honestly such a masterpiece… I imagine the athlete as the bass, constantly there in the background, the rising crescendo in the guitar as each push, then finally the vocals at the end as the final ‘let’s go’! I use this song every time I need motivation to work out 😅 muse are clever beings to construct such a well thought out piece of music!
