Amazing, thanks for sharing thrilling experience, really appreciated 🙏
Twice per year, The Sherpa set route through Icefall, lash + set ladders, fix ropes, and maintain passage (shifting when conditions demand), and risk their lives with each step. Then we arrive with our GoPro's and our cool gear and display ourselves as brave heroes. In 2014, 16 Sherpas died in this Icefall. This year 3 more. In fact, 1/3 of all deaths on Everest are Sherpas, irrespective of the fact that they are the strongest, most experienced climbers on the mountain, and with the most summits. Real Hero: The Sherpa.
Thanks AX. They are certainly the true heroes and mountaineers up there, along with qualified western and eastern guide partners. We are their climber clients. Amateur climbers who present themselves as heroes are mistaken, and those who climb unprepared are the exact opposite, because they place others at risk. All of who have climbed with Sherpa guides agree about this... When did you climb it? Glad to connect with you.
@@OSMAdventures do you think ametures should climb Everest?
@@samidu492 I define amateur climbers as those who pay to climb, rather than professionals who get paid. So, yes of course amateurs should climb Everest... the idea that professionals only could go up there is very sad, indeed impossible... who would pay them? The question is, what qualifications should suffice among mountaineers--everyone including amateurs and professionals? It is tough to know... but the guiding companies should be held accountable if they fail to provide a safe experience for everyone.
And even worse considering Everest is one the safest mountains in the Himalayas compared to other mountains.
@@randompersonasdf Sadly, people die on Everest every year. Many of these deaths are preventable... if the climbers involved were better prepared. Without the effort of the Sherpa guides, the death rate would certainly be much higher.
Sherpas are some of the most amazing human beings on the planet!
I’m not a climber but love to watch videos on it. This one really helps me see what the climber experiences in ice flow. Never seen that before. Thank you.
My legs were frozen below my knees, Just watching this video. I couldn't cross one of those cracks. I honour the Sherpas and those who made it across. I even honour those who attempted it but couldn't make it.
00:53 no surprise that a man named Ang Pemba Sherpa just walks across a small ass ice ledge perched above a crack that drops deep into nothing... like a boss.
Ang Pemba Sherpa practically dances across!
Definitely the single best video I’ve seen detailing the complexities of the Khumbu Icefall, awesome stuff 👏🏼
If I hold the rope and walk on the ladder, I'll inevitably fall on one side or the other. That is pretty much a fact! So, I'll not climb Mt. Everest! On a serious note, respect to all the people who do it! You guys are amazing!
Great video. I would have rather heard the natural sound though
Music just takes away from the video.
Yeah I had to watch this on mute.
Agree
I guess music makes it sound adventurous,... positive.... exciting.....I do like natural sound though too.....
I don't understand the need for a video such as this to have such awful music. If any music. Hearing the sound of snow, the wind and creaking ladders would be much better.
This is the best video of khumbu icefall..👌🏼.
Usually i dont like background music..
But in this video the music track matches the adventure and gels with the breathtaking surroundings..👍🏼
sky blue thanks Sky!
Horrible music.
My journey to Base Camp was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Thanks for sharing.
0:38 at this point I probably would turn around haha it is crazy what humans can do when we work together we can accomplish many unimaginable things thanks for the amazing footage man and god bless the people who do this for a living and the ones who have respect and not trash the beautiful mountain
Thank you for this encouraging comment.
Whenever i see that vertical ladder climb, i am happy to watch in youtube. You all are brave soul
This video screams that only the experienced, equipped and those that are in excellent condition should go there.
I wish everyone would heed your wise observation. Thank you.
@@OSMAdventures I have a question, did you experience any difficulties or other issues during your hike? Would like to hear more about the experience :)
@@chromberries7329 Thanks for your interest. My blog entry from that day: pottinger.net/osm/2016/04/down-to-ebc/
One of the best of the ice fall I’ve seen so far!!!
Wow! I’ve watched many Everest vids and this ranks rite up there-excellent filming, gotta like the descriptions of areas along the way, most new to me-watching the filmer carefully place crampons on the ladder rungs was excruciating🙈..keep thinking something’s gonna move! Many thanks, entertaining and a thorough, and fantastic job👍👍
Thanks so much for your nice comment.
Damn. Thats some serious vertigo inducing footage. Great footwork. The guide is badass. Climb safe. Regards.
i love all the processes your videos hold, but i would have appreciated it more without music. thanks for posting this awesome footage! I love how you have marked and told us the names of all the things around you!

Amazing footage!!These Icefall are dangerously beautifull
Waited so long for complete route of Khumbhu icefall thanks man respect from India
This is not really complete, but much of the upper portion. Thanks for your kind comment.
@@OSMAdventures thank you so much sir for this

Thanks so much Dude! Will do....
Just found this channel today and its amazing! Fair play OSM, keep up the good work man!
+OSM Adventures is there a summit video at the top
damn cigarette at that altitude?!
Right!!?? And I leaving it there !
Daniel Sadjadi dont have to go that far. We have plenty here in the US
actually its not that uncommon. some people that work on the big mountains assume they will die there and so they want to enjoy their time. (if im wrong correct me)
I read a few months ago that the majority of Sherpa's despite their superior conditioning and genetics are actually smokers.
@Daniel Sadjadi So only rich white people climb the mountain? That's a ridiculous claim.
5:39 I almost fell off the couch 😥😥
One of the best CZcams videos I've ever seen
Is there any shame in crossing those ladders on your hands and knees? God, your Sherpa is like a mountain goat!💙
The key is to be safe and efficient. Beyond that, cross any way you choose....
You can imagine the enourmous dimensions of the Khumbu Icefall Region, if You search the 'Gigapixel Foto Mount Everest' in the WWW. - Hundreds of Imagines were combined to a Panoramic Imagine of these area: Base Camp in front, K.Icefall in middle, Lhotse in the background, and above, the Peak of Mount Everest. Climbers are only moskito points in these surrounding!
Holy crap that stuff is scary! I'd be terrified to go through that. Thanks for the great videos, really enjoy watching these!
God bless the Sherpa's.
I couldn't agree more. Without them I don't think one tourist/climber would make it to the top and down again.
Mr Cabot no the god we believe in is Allah Islam is the way it is not constructed by humans
@Mr Cabot why do you have to be toxic, huh? It's just a statement expressing his admiration for them. You just want to argue with someone, don't you?
@Mr Cabot if you are so averse to using the word God, you shouldn't even say goodbye, cause it actually means "god be with you." Just.....why? I don't get it. Also I do not want to argue.
@Mr Cabot see God is one and for the Sherpas Everest is their mother goddess
4k video makes it realistic. Watching it on my 31" LG monitor. Looks great!

Wow. Wonderful Mount Everest, wonderful nature 😍😍😍
I don't know why but I'm just facinated by Everest!!! What people go through to get to to the top is just crazy!!!
chances are you could do it too, the weather is gentle, the path is well founded, you have oxygen bottle and a sharpa will carry your stuff. This isn't K2, Everest is nothing compared to Broad Peak, Annapurna I, Nanga Parbat and many others
@@Assassunn lol says a random stranger on the internet.
@@Assassunn Sherpas dont carry your stuff, lol.
I'm fascinated too....my second "go round" on youtube.....I was fascinated about gang killings in Chicago.....but that is senseless...but Everest mountain climbing is more "positive"😅😂😳 and challenging.😁
Yeah, they go through traffic jams.
OMG! This is crazy! 😱
Amazing pictures! I am really impressed by you guys! 😍👍👍👍
Is that ice around the crevices stable? Could one of the entire chunk of ice cave in and drop down ? How did you know ?
That Pemba Sherpa is badass.
TheJwwinter, it shifts all the time, so we cannot really know the stability of the crevasse lips. That’s why we never linger in the icefall. And... all the Sherpa mountaineers hired by IMG are amazing!
you can read about how badass Pemba really is, google his name and K2
That is why they have to cross this Khumbu Icefall at dawn so that it doesn't break and shift after sunrise.
Wanderful video of khumbu icefall & it's negotiation by the mountaineers.thanks u.tube.
A fantastic video to watch. I am so interested in Everest and the people that climb it. Thank you for the video and i wish you all the luck for your future climbs. Stay safe x

i love watching these everest adventures i wish i could be a hill climber i like the hill walking but i couldnt do that
Climbing Everest is never my life goal, but that sight is worth dying to see! So much respect for Sherpas and thank you for this video
I hope no one else has to die to see this... that is why I shared this video, so others could experience the icefall from the safety of their homes.
It looks so easy in video when in reality it's one of the toughest feats a human can achieve...
This part of the mountain is relatively low, so the challenge is not the elevation but rather the objective hazard of the shifting seracs. This day was a good, stable day--like most.
Your video is amazing and so are the sherpas for doing this it's amazing what it must take people to climb Everest your videos are some of the best I've ever seen and I love the music with this video it fits it so well.
Wow, I was reading about this and had to see what it looked like and DANG, I would NEVER have the courage to navigate through this! I almost felt ill watching the climbers walking over the ladders perched above the massive cracks in the ice! I have been fascinated by mountaineering and love reading about it but it's something that I have no desire to do myself.
One wrong move and you're done for. Respect to the sherpas.

Just got back from Nepal only managed to trek to camp 1 but am definitely going for a summit in 2020 around may time already planned everything and I’m only 1 week back home in Belfast lol ,wish me luck
That is great. You were at EBC or C1? Either way, glad to hear you had a good experience.
Maaaan. Its so heart breaking to see comments like this in 2021 and knowing what happened in 2020. So many hopes crushed my Covid 19.
Wow I’m so facinated with Everest I watch all videos and this one is definitely one of the best. Those crevasses are insane.
Thanks!
I feel my guts clenching just watching the video....amazing cinematography...
The region of Mount Everest has a beauty all its own but people need to remember that beauty comes with a price as many have died there. Remember the goal is to come back alive and to reach the summit is only second to that. I may never climb Everest as I don't do well with high place but I do remember what happened in 1996 and how quickly things can turn back. I may not have been there but I sure learned about it from news reports on those days and documentaries later on in life.
The craziest thing about this is having to cross the gaps over foot ladders that force you to look down for every step because your ice climbing boots have no business walking on them 😅
You guys are superhumans. 🔥🔥🔥
It's amazing! Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷❤️🌄
Thank you Flor.

Fantastyczne miejsce, piękne ujęcia, świetna muzyka. Czuje tą moc pozdrawiam!
I watch these amazed at the way everyone negotiates this terrain. And I find myself reeling from the thought that people with the same level of climbing experience as me but with money show up there thinking it’s reasonable for them to do it. I wish someone could help me grasp the thought process because I just cannot.
Thank Marilyn. If you are an experienced mountaineer, then you might be ready for Everest! It is a very, very serious place, and only people who have put in the work of prepping should try it. Here is our expedition log from 2016: pottinger.net/osm/expedition/everest-2016/
@@OSMAdventures I can clearly see you are experienced. I am not in the slightest and I am seeing accounts of people up there who did little more to prep than take some day hikes and it just scares me so much. I know that it would be dangerous for me and others to be up there. Why do people think they can do it when they aren’t prepared?
@@marilynsgirl01 I wish I knew. And I wish they would stop... for their sakes, and everyone’s.
@@OSMAdventures I guess that’s what I seek to understand. Why they think it’s safe. Why they don’t realize they’re risking lives other than their own. These people are intelligent and accomplished. How are they so blinded about Everest?
@@marilynsgirl01 I'm not sure. Probably different for different people... this may help illuminate: www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/12/18/sports/everest-deaths.html?searchResultPosition=3
Risk is there in everything in life. More than a million people die in road accidents in the world every year. But that doesn’t stop any people from travelling in Cars...Similarly mountain accidents don’t stop all the climbers from climbing the mountains...
A mountain so treacherous and challenging that it's the only one you can't summit without a sherpa cooking your meals and carrying your stuff.
Oh mountaineers benefit from the expertise and support from Sherpa guides on many mountains, not just Everest. What was your experience climbing to the top?
Mesmerizing video
Thank you very much.
My heart is pounding just watching 😫😰
Man the Sherpa looks like he is just out for a stroll! These have to be the most underpaid people on the planet!
Our Sherpa guides were incredible. This is why I strongly, strongly recommend that climbers hire the most ethical and often most expensive guiding outfits they can afford, so that their Sherpa guides are paid well and taken care of... even if some trolls then call you "rich" for doing so.
Dam the music killed the vibe 😔
Breathtaking scenery. Beautiful but so dangerous! So many crevasses and cracks in the ground. Is it snow or ice or both? One wrong move, or step, or the snow or ice giving way under a climbers weight and that's it! You plunge into an icy crevice many feet deep and become trapped forever unless you and your Sherpa and team have the strength and means to pull you out. And that is if you are not injured from the fall. A very perilous journey the Summit of Everest. Is it worth risking ones life to.say they climbed and conquered the mountains for glory? Too many others have tried and have failed over the years but for the ones have succeeded, they are the lucky ones. Still, thanks for sharing this. It was fascinating to watch. It felt like I was there with the team.
Exactly... love the whole idea of summiting but just knowing that over 300 people have perished ( yes it´s a small number compared to the ones that survive) makes me think about it twice. The last climber went to take a dump and died just 200 meters from the camp. Sad
It's fascinating
Brazil 2021 great vídeo !!
I don't know what I would hate more, scaling a mountain like everest or exploring a deep cave system like Plurdalen. It looks beautiful though. Terrifying and a complete hell, but beautiful and tranquil at the same time.
Beautiful video. So cool.
Am i the only one who wants to go Everest by knowing that it’s impossible for me.
Thanks for your enthusiasm! Glad to have you along for the ride.
lmao if i went i would only go to base camp trek
These videos make my toes itch but im absolutely fascinated by you crazy people. Nothing but respect to you all. Everytime i see one of those massive cracks i cant help wondering just how far down do they actually go and how utterly terrified i would be to fall in one. What if you fell in but survived...how would anyone be able to help you?? It scares me to death to think about it but im addicted to watching these videos. Its January 2021, im sitting on my wall in my garden surrounded by a whole 1 inch of snow supporting you Everest people 🙌 because thats about as much as i could cope with 👍👌👍 Your all amazing but absolutely crazy and i love your vids x
Thanks Stacie. Crevasse falls are very rare on thus route, because we climb clipped to a fixed line... fixed by the amazing icefall doctors of SPCC.
Incredibly brave people 🙏🙏 i could watch your videos for hours, they are absolutely beautiful but terrifying. What an amazing experience it must be...🖤🖤 thank you for allowing us to share it with you in some way. Stay safe x
@@staciejanes8820 so kind of you. Please learn more on my blog, www.Pottinger.net. Be well.
The snow shapes alone looks like a living entity only that its not in human form.
The ice looks so smooth and soft that it is hard to realize that you could die falling into the crevasse. 😯
I am watching this awesome video on my sofa and I wish I had the energy and the courage to do something like this. I envy people who are able to do stuff like this. How long does it take to go to the summit ?

fantastic man,respect from Brazil!
Many small crevasses and the shaky aluminum ladder
Cool music 🎶
Good foot work. I honestly was surprised the fixed lines weren't tattered from being spiked. I've heard so much about uninitiated climbers with crampons up there.
Thanks. This is twisted static line made in Korea.... super tough, and it withstands a lot. Most folks up there realize that their lives depend on the line, so they treat it with respect... most have been in crampons before, for sure.
Mountains and strange techno-noise go together like peas and motor oil.
God bless and keep you brave souls!
it's great!
it's beautyful. my dream
This video needs more views , how it feels while you crossing kumba icefall
Thnx for the ice doctors , to set the route

Fascinating stuff to watch..as is mountaineering which I've literally just starting getting into recently. Still can't fathom why people are so passionate about doing it though, it'd be one of the last things on earth I could think of that I'd get any pleasure from doing. Having said that though, these guys would probably think the same about how I get my kicks lol
Thanks much. If you want to learn more, please see my blog, link in the description.

That is the most badass thing I've ever seen
Fantastic video, it brings back some memories. When I was there 4 or 5 years ago (the year before the quake) this portion almost made me cancel my climb. It's horrible and beautiful at the same time. The constant avalanche stress is nerve wrecking. Other than that, beautiful memories. Sadly Nepal is giving more and more permits every year and this won't end well. That place is beautiful (from Lukla to BC included). Since then I've been thinking over a lot of things which happened there and as beautiful as it is from the summit, I think the Himalayas themselves can keep a tourist's eyes busy for months, if not years. 8000+ meters climbing should be stopped, not only on Everest but on every mountain higher than 7,000 meters. That environment is not for humans. 300 deaths should be a testimony for that. 7 km height should be enough for anyone, and even that altitude is extremely dangerous. Nepal should invest in scenery tourism, because more and more people on Everest will lead one day to an inevitable huge catastrophe. Scenery tourism would make a lot of jobs and a lot of money for the locals. If I could I'd certainly ban climbing on every mountain higher than 7,000 meters.
Thanks for your thoughts. 2014 was a rough year too... sorry about that. I still think the mountain should be open to qualified climbers led by reputable services that have earned the right to be there... with regulations, this can be done relatively safely. There will always be risk... but agree that currently things could be improved. Thanks for your praise of Nepal, I hope it stirs others to visit this incredible place.
It was 2013, the year before the quake. The quake was the following year, I just checked my papers. I respect your opinion on the openness of the mountain, but I don't agree with it. Commercializing the mountain at this level won't lead to anything good. Each to their own. :) At least they should ban solo climbing and climbing without O. That would be a first step towards more safety.
Thanks.
The earthquake happened on April 25, 2015... I was at C2. In April of 2014 there was indeed a different catastrophe: An ice cliff from the West Shoulder of Everest fell into the icefall route at exactly the worst time, instantly killing 16 Sherpa mountaineers. Terrible times for sure. Progress could come from diversifying economic opportunities for the people of the Khumbu... and reserving mountaineering opportunities for the most experienced and qualified climbers. Sadly, I sense no meaningful movement in this direction.
Yes, sorry. You're right, the quake was in 2015 and the ice cliff avalanche before. I remember when I was there a young sherpa who died, he was with a Chinese group. It was his first Everest climb, if I remember well, and he fell on the descent from around C3. Silly and freak accident. I felt really sorry for him and his family. Then Alexey, the Russian climber. I've seen you guys were using 0 from C3 already, we used only from C4 to summit and back, plus during rest at C4, of course. Was it optional or did the expedition you were with ask you to? It certainly seems more energetic with O from C3. haha
O2 above C3 is standard for all Western climbers on IMG expeditions... clients and guides... the IMG Sherpa guides use it at C4 and higher, just as you did. Congrats on your summit, especially in 2013, a contentious year at C2 and a sad one with those deaths.
Xcellent coverage.
I wanna go there.
